Thanks for sharing -- Fly. Excellent, Yes -- P would have been mighty proud of AA. As I am sure he would have been about Shelby J, Liv, and JH who also have a show coming up -- "Sisters Song". They are all doing what they can to uphold P's legacy. Thanks again!

Thanks -- Fly. I had seen the photo and read the related story a while back. I am glad you were able to fish it out. I was wondering what P was doing at the curtain. Soon after P passed I researched all the young people -- AA, Nik West, Damaris, Delilah, Kandace, Lianne, Shameless Maya, Coco & Breezy etc. that he had been hanging out with. He was critcized for taking advice from 20-something year old girls. I am glad that they all gave him a chance to experience normal life outside his bubble -- going to cafes and hanging out with their friends. They were not as jaded with him as older people of his generation are. Coco & Breezy said they went out to restaurants with him quite frequently. It gave him an opportunity to enjoy a normal existence before he passed.

Thanks for your insightful comment, bibrose. Indeed, Prince had many friendships/relationships with twenty-somethings. It probably helped him to keep his youthful spirit, or perhaps it was because of his youthful spirit. Whatever the casel, his relationship with Andy was different; hence, this thread dedicated to their collaborations. heart

That is wonderful news bibrose. In fact, it sounds like it would be a good topic for a thread all its own.

Latin and Fly, I applaud you for keeping this thread going. One of the areas that we have not discussed is P and AA's collaboration on acoustic guitar. I think it is significant. I know that Prince Vault is not 100% complete, and I am sure there are acoustic guitar recordings in the vault.

My review of P's acoustic guitar recordings, as listed on Prince Vault, goes back to his first album, "For You" that was originally recorded in 1976 and released in 1978. The Studio version of the album has an acoustic guitar recording which was never released.

In November 2015, P released "Oui Can Luv" -- his acoustic guitar collaboration with AA through a livestream on Tidal, and then released the album.

Acoustic guitar versions of "We Can Funk" and "Push & Pull" are also included in "Oui Can Luv".

In October 2016, P released "U Will B" an acoustic guitar duet with AA; and also the acoustic guitar version of "Guitar" which he recorded with AA in 2011.

So it is obvious that from 1978 to 2014, P did not release any acoustic guitar recordings. His collaboration with AA on "Oui Can Luv" will help to put him in the annals of acoustic guitarists. I only hope that the vault has far more acoustic guitar recordings that can help to put P in the rungs of the best acoustic guitarists.

Generally, the mastery of acoustic guitar is considered to be more difficult than electric guitar. Because he recorded all his music in the studio, and people saw his performances live and now via video, the extent of P's mastery of the guitar has surprised some musicians who were not following his work until they viewed his performance of "As My Guitar Gently Weeps" at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame event. Still P's mastery of acoustic guitar is not as well known beyond his fans. So he is not featured in the Top 50 Acoustic Guitarists.

This is what Gibson Guitars says about acoustic versus electric guitar: "Electric guitarists get all the glory – stacks of amplifiers, arenas full of fans, that big, big sound sending shockwaves through adoring crowds. Meanwhile, the acoustic players of the world are the sensitive souls, playing delicately and carefully in their unamplified corners of music history. The best acoustic guitarists have quietly made innovative sounds and amazing tunes that have altered how people think about the guitar."

yes Thanks, bibrose! No worries!! As I noted earlier in the thread, his acoustics on Oui Can Luv are rare. I, too, hope there are more acoustic gems in The Vault. Andy has said that they recorded many more songs together, so, perhaps, there is hope.

.

BTW: Before AA came along, I wonder when had Prince last consistently played the acoustic guitar? I think his tutelage of her, coupled with her soft voice that is best suited for acoustics, gave him a new love for the often unappreciated sibling of his beloved electric guitar.

Thanks, ChanGirl! I love this clip. His acoustic sets on the Musicology tour were wonderful. I remember Prince telling BET's Stephen Hill that he would decide on-the-spot what to play during the acoustics sets for each show.

Thanks -- SayItsJustADream -- for providing this valuable information. It would be good for P's acoustic guitar recordings to get the recognition they deserve. Hopefully, the Vault has a treasure trove of acoustic guitar recordings.

P and Caleb Quaye. who played in the Elton John, Hall and Oates, and Bluesology bands, are two virtuoso guitarists who rank up high in terms of their mastery of the guitar but are often not listed or not listed high in the ranks of guitarists.

I posted a link on facebook to a website that is comparable to Vault.com. It may fill in some of the gaps that the Prince Vault has. I will search and share the link to the website

Prince And His Relationsh...y Speaking

.

Orger PaisleyPrint has done a natal chart and the planets of several women in his life, including his two wives. This is how (s)he began.

I had promised to do an analysis of Prince and his relationships from an astrological point of view. I wanted to do an analysis (synastry) of the three main women in his life (Vanity, Mayte and Manuella) but was asked about others as well. So in addition to them, I will do an analysis of these also: Sheila E., Susannah M., Susan Moonsie, Carmen Electra, Appolonia, , Kim Bassinger, Nona Gaye (who has the worst synastry with him, by the way), Anna Fantastic, and Andy Allo (who has the best synastry with him)*. [Emphasis added]

.

The complete findings are posted in the thread listed below. This is strictly for the sake of information.

http://prince.org/msg/100/437298?pg=1

.

*Synastry refers to the comparison between the horoscopes of two or more people in order to determine their likely compatibility and relationship.

More coverage of Andy Allo joining the cast of Pitch Perfect 3. You would think this is all good...but not at a certain website that shall, once again, remain nameless. A couple people told me about the discussion over there about Andy landing her latest acting gig, so I decided to have a look-see. Many of the posters are positive, but some are inexplicably accusing AA of capitalizing on Prince's name because she is referred to as a "Prince protégé" in the media reports. Never mind the fact that Allo is not writing the headlines, which are, by the way accurate. She is a Prince protégé. Forever.

.

To boot, I think this whole notion that Andy cannot mention Prince without being accused of riding his coattails is really beyond foolish. How else can she promote the music on which they collaborated, much of which he produced as an investment for NPG Records? Thus, a percentage of any money made off this music will continue to fatten the coffers of P's estate. Forever.

.

Besides which, Prince was all about giving his protégés a platform to showcase their artistry. So why should that change now that he has passed away? Any success they have is a continuation of P's historic legacy, which I'm sure would make him happy. And, it's not like Andy is sharing intimate details about her relationship with Prince or writing a book. That is capitalizing...not the grinding and shining that Miss Andy continues to do.

.

Lastly, the resident blowhard on that gutter site even claims that she has some "tea" on the casting of Pitch Perfect 3 and, according to her, AA received her role over "better" singers because the production team wanted a certain "look." First, this self-proclaimed journalist produced not one iota of evidence to support her claims, NONE, which is par for the course for this middle-aged cyber bully who routinely makes up stuff out of thin air. Secondly, isn't casting all about finding actors who have a desired "look" to play particular characters? Duh!! It's ridiculous, as is most of the posturing of this narcissistic, highly educated dolt who seldom has anything flattering to say about anyone other than herself.

.

Be that as it may, let's hope that Miss Andy ignores all the mean-spirited rhetoric and focuses on taking her extremely promising career to the next level. Forever.

.

Very well said -- Fly. Preserving and protecting P's legacy should be about the ideals that he stood for and lived by which included kindness to others, and respect for oneself and others. I hope that people will bear this in mind.

I can't get past the idea that Prince would have anything more than a professional relationship with these girls at least - Andy and Judith - given the short amount of time he mentored them. Yeah, he was hot even at 57. But to actually sleep with a girl 30+ years younger than he was ? That would make anyone feel like a perv, even Prince. Don't you think he deserves a little more credit, as well as respect ? Could be he wanted a woman, not a girl - and that's why Appolonia was on her way to see him.
