Paisley Park now on my bucket list for a second time and different reason in the last 6 months. Will be no doubt an interesting honourable experience. Thanks Prince...

I am in the minority here, but I do not feel it's too soon. I feel giving Prince fans access to Paisley Park from the U.S. and all over the world will help bring closure - if that is even fully possible. I am shocked that it is happening in October but get the move due to the tribute concert. I feel it is a nice gesture for all the fans that are coming from all over to be able to tour the inside of Paisley Park and not wait till next year, or years after that. Let us just be happy it is not being sold and we can be part of this experience.

I wonder if they'll allow photos or if they'll be annoying about it even after his death?

I hope they don't allow photos. I'm involved with a historic stately home in England that doesn't allow them. They like to preserve the mystery so more people pay to do the tour.

Exactly! Maybe just have one or two areas allowed but everthing else not allowed...if people know what its all about, they may decide its not worth going at all. I want PP to be around for years and years!

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Prince specifically save special items that he said had no real meaning to himself but he felt people might want to see them some day when he's not there anymore? Outfits, motorcycles, photographs lining the walls etc. In other words, wasn't he planning for Paisley Park to be some kind of a museum one day?

rogifan said: OF course I was expecting things like this to happen. But there is still things that are left to be explained. You don't think that prince didn't have a few million bucks in a bank account. That will pay some bills to start. There also selling a load of properties. I don't agree with how quick his death has been put aside and straight to the money issues. No funeral for his fans to mourn.A bad decision. Made by the people that loved him the most? I don't think so.I smell a rat.

Maybe the family doesn't think the fans need to know every minute detail about Prince's death, and they believe they are respecting his privacy. The reason "his death has been put aside and straight to the money issues" is because HE LEFT NO WILL (allegedly) and the estate is in probate court. There are porcedures, rules and timelines to be followed and there is a HUGE tax bill due in Jan. It is NOT Prince's family running thw show at this point, it is the lawyers, accountants, and business executives who are administering his estate! Since no Will has produced, his burial plan was left to his family who probably did the best they could manage under the shocking circumstances. For all we know, Prince may have made it known family or his lawyer(s) that he wanted to be cremated. (He reportedly had his infant son cremated right after he passed.) He also may have told Tyka or even his lawyer(s) that he didn't want a big elaborate service. WHO KNOWS? Just because that is what you and some other fans may want, doesn't mean it is what Prince wanted. With that kind of wealth, it's just so beyond ridiculous if he really did not have a Will or at least a Trust prepared.

Its all maybes isnt it. I guess some people have more repect and class than others. Its too soon. Simple as. I keep having to turn his music on and off. Still trying to come to terms with his death.A true fan. That's my feelings on it. Its turned into a money making circus. Which you are falling for. Me I am going to take my time and see how this unfolds first. See if they show prince the respect he deserves which I'm afraid hasn't happened so far. Each to there own. I'm out.

if P had had a house at a separate location, that would be weird to do tours of it at any time. and i think if P had to pass, PP was the best possible place for that to happen, for his sake. even though it has 'the elevator', its also the place where he's most alive. I guess in my mind he is still alive, and this is a way to keep his energy alive instead of a memorial, which would be a worldwide acknowledgement of his passing. Instead, they are keeping it about Life. Prince's essence lives on thru people, but PP is the physical center of his Vision being carried out on earth. The only way to keep PP open until next year is to do everything they can this year to come up with $150 million dollars before January. Hence the tours, tribute concert, and perhaps recordings released later? It seems smart to have such extended hours -- i guess that will help them determine which hours are most popular for next year. i see this as an experimental prototype of a museum which will continue to evolve and i would like to go maybe once a year to see whats new. i think the interactive aspects take more time to set up.

He wanted it to be a museum and apart from his living quarters which are not part of the tour..It is a place that many, many artists came to record. He held many events there..He wanted that to continue.Hopefully in the future concerts/events will be held there again someday.

I would like to visit PP one day, watch a filmed Prince concert, and then on the weekend see Mint Condition (among others) play there.

I didn't see this interview but I'm going to assume that you have and you've asked so I will answer. I think that if she would like to donate money to help pay the tax bills in January that it would a lovely gesture for a former Prince protege to make. Given that it appeared she was a friend of the family, I'm surprised she would go public and say something so unsupportive of the family like that, but what do I know? As an aside, do I need to point out that it seems like so many are working hard to strike while the iron is hot to make money off Prince's name? Her too, using his symbol on her shirt. Sooooo.........there you have it.

Sorry if this angers anyone but this is what I think.

There are tens of thousands of available fan and pro photos and fan and pro videos of Graceland. Every item, every nook and cranny, is available in close-up, broad view and sideways. Tickets still sell out. Don't be afraid of it. wink

IMO it would be worse if people paid to travel to Paisley, paid for tour tickets, hotel, food, then told everyone they knew that it wasn't worth it. Let the folks who will feel that way check out photos and decide to stay home instead - that's my 2 cents.

But since they are into "what Prince allowed" with the vegetarian food, they'll probably ban photos too just because he did. confused

Two tours is very wise, b/c your heads and emotions will be swimming in how surreal it is for much of the first go-around for sure, and you'll want to remember everything. Love that you're going together, kids-free this time, and taking something the kids will make. Made my day!

........

While I think opening PP for tours will be wonderful, I agree with Sheila and other's -- October is just too soon. But on the other hand, I think the reason they want to get this going is so they can keep Paisley Park (financial reasons). I read that P's estate owes a lot of taxes and they (Bremer Trust) has to sell-off his properties. So with that, saving PP (which is what Prince would want) is a beautiful thing. We are are still mourning his loss, but maybe this will begin to give us (his friends) some closure. Just my thoughts......
