There were no additional parking spaces added, his tour bus was still parked out back and the purple flowers, memorabilia and pictures fans left on the fence were still there. I'm glad now that I saw it before it is open to the public because I know they are going to change some things.

You're lucky, Hope you took some pictures. That's one of the saddest parts of the museum thing for me, the changes that have to be made to get it up to code. It's no longer "his." I do wonder how he avoided a lot of the regulations that come with public use spaces over the years since he did have concerts there. Must have given their favorite resident a pass

Does anyone else feel going to Paisley Park is like paying your last respects, knowing his spirit is still hovering around that studio? I feel like it's a way of receiving closure and saying my own goodbye, opposed to just walking around through his home. I've seen his awards when he won them on TV.

I just feel when I walk through his home and studio I am going to get emotional.

Anyone else feel those thoughts?

Yes, that's exactly how I feel. Pay my respects, hope for closure. May get emotional, I don't want to. I look crazy when I cry...lol.

That's exactly how I feel. I know my emotions are going to be all over the place but I'm pretty sure I won't be alone. I chose the VIP tour but that's got a guide so I think I'm going to go back for the regular tour which is self-guided so I can have some alone time to just take it in and say my good-byes. You think it'll be open during the tribute? I bet it's going to be quiet then and I think I'd rather be there than the tribute concert.

Bremer Trust called it an “unprecedented and extraordinary” opportunity for Prince fans to get a glimpse inside the iconic musician’s life.

“The new Paisley Park museum will offer fans a unique experience, an exhibition like no other, as Prince would have wanted it,” Prince’s siblings said in a statement. “Most important, the museum will display Prince’s genius, honor his legacy, and carry forward his strong sense of family and community.”

The 65,000-square-foot complex served as Prince’s private estate and production complex. The musician collapsed in an elevator on April 21 and died of an accidental fentanyl overdose.

Bremer Trust says an application for development review and business plan have been submitted to the city of Chanhassen.

The public hearing will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, and a special city council meeting will take place Oct. 3 to give final consideration to the application.

"From the documents that I've seen and the conversations that I've had with family members and close friends, I believe that the plans for Paisley Park are in full accordance with Prince's wishes," Chanhassen Mayor Denny Laufenburger wrote in a letter. "Much of his vision and design activity for Paisley Park as a museum is already in place. He knew exactly how to showcase his production studio for his fans in preparation for this eventual outcome."

Just read the following excerpt from a Rolling Stone article published today online with info about the estate.

Fans touring the facility will only have access to the first floor; they won't be able to see the basement vault, the elevator where Prince was found dead or his private apartment on the second floor. Yet there will still be plenty to experience: More than 12 rooms will be decorated thematically, each documenting a particular era of Prince's career, down to period costumes, instruments and unreleased concert footage. The recording studios will remain active, and, eventually, Paisley Park's 12,400-square-foot soundstage and the more intimate nightclub next to it will host live performances by acts yet to be named. The legendary dove cages in the lobby will also remain, as will the original carpet Prince walked on.

Can't wait to go to PP on 10/9 but was so sad to reach this about the redecoration. I was hoping to see PP as it was when Prince was there.

Very interesting thanks for posting. This article does make me feel better about opeining Paisley Park. It's clearly something P was working on and it appears he left more detailed instructions than we maybe previously thought. Still not sure what I think about Susan Rogers maybe overseeing the vault. I'm not sure what gets released should be decided by only one person.

I don't think Prince wanted to have anything to do with Susan. This is an excerpt from the pulled Ebony interview, where he was talking about her.

Prince: There’s too much! They get down to, “See, what he was thinking at that specific time was… His mindset at the time…” They psychoanalyze you.
There was one engineer who said that their sole purpose in life was to get the stuff out of the vault, and get it copied so it wasn’t lost to the world. I’m trying to figure out if that’s illegal. Should I fear for my safety that you might need some medical attention? You want to come up in my vault and you feel like that belongs to you and that’s your purpose? You better find something to do. That’s scary.

So they are only going to open up the first floor. I wonder how they will make the VIP tour that much different. I did the tour back in 2001 and we got to go downstairs and see the parking garage. I'm going in Oct to the concert and want to tour PP again just not sure I want to do VIP. Thoughts?
