wow, thanx for posting. I'm not pro-Welton. I think he has a horrible influence on Prince. they can't makes Jesus music and rock at the same time. it's called Christian-rock.

well, they made "HARDROCKLOVER" together, which is one of his better songs from the last 10 years or so, for me anyway. so i can't hate on josh, i think it's a good thing he's involved. albums (AOA and HITNRUN) in this style that josh introduced to prince's sound. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

All I got from it was a lot of words literally saying nothing. It's the same ole same old. I think Prince is still living in the 80's because his interviews are all the same, where he thinks people are still into his antics of being ghostlike, how good he is at ping pong, his spirituality, and his ramblings about how he feels about music, trying to sound as if he's the most wise, intelligent person to ever walk the earth. In reality, it's all getting kind of sad, because he's just getting older and so is his audience, and most, such as myself, have grown up, and no longer find his antics "cute" or think that he hung the moon anymore. I think that Prince is trying to live precariously through this guy Josh, because like someone said, he still wishes that he was 25. Well, you're not anymore Prince, and it's a fact you should face and accept. None of us will never get back our years gone by, and we won't get any younger.

I think in "hardrocklover"he is trying too hard. like someone who desperately wants to be cool. and it's not happening.

“The trick is to make the music mean something in the world outside of here,” says Prince of his secret stash. He may not like to look back on the past, but hints that there are loose ends yet to be tied up. “I’ve vaulted so much stuff, going way back to the ’80s, because I didn’t want people to hear it — it wasn’t ready. One day I’ll go back and finish it, and it’ll feel like no time has passed. To me, time folds back on itself.”
I guess time ain't a trick anymore. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I agree. I mean come on guys, let's be truthful here, tell me that there was something in that interview that you hadn't heard before, in one way or another? Most of us long time fans know all about Paisley Park, the hangings on the wall, the vault, all the music not finished, the no camera/taping rule, ping pong, Dave Chappell, etc, etc, etc. We even know all we need to know about Josh and 3rd Eyegirl. To be honest, it's repetitive and kind of annoying, hearing these same things about Prince over and over again. And talking about the tall fence at Paisley Park, to keep out intruders, etc, but to be honest, I don't think that anyone is trying to break into Paisley Park anymore, to see Prince or anything else, unless it's a deranged fan or something! I don't know about anyone else, but to me, all I see Paisley Park as, is a big white, sad building where Prince once made his best music (you know that music that he seems to be trying to forget?), had the best bands and people around him, etc. Now, all Paisley Park seems to me, is a big, empty place where Prince still hangs out and records with 3rd Eyegirl and Josh, throwing the occasional little shindig/party. It's sad to me. [Edited 8/29/15 16:31pm]

in fairness, he's done so many interviews that there's not much left to say anymore. Also, these interviews are not geared only towards hardcore fans who have followed Prince for so long [Edited 8/29/15 16:48pm]

I don't think AOA or PE or what we've heard from HITNRUN could be classified as Jesus music or Christian Rock. Actually Prince has skirted the line more with Joshua producing than he has in over a decade. Now please explain what is wrong with any music that has Jesus as a subject in a free speech America?

Prince must feel strongly about the content of this album because he's doing a lot of press for it which is what many fans have wanted to see from him for a long time. I'm looking forward to hearing the music without prejudice or the prince.org hive brain most here seem to have.

It's funny because he doesn't do anything a 25 year old does. If he wanted he could have every single major artist out there feature on every song on his album, he could pay to perform on the VMA's every year, he could party at every event in NY or Hollywood, he could pimp himself out to any outlet that wanted to talk to him and give him press, he could wear assless pants, he could smash a Kardashian. That is what a man looking to regain his youth does but Prince is in Minnesota still doing whatever he pleases, working with virtually unknown musicians and an unknown producer in Welton, wearing an afro and bell bottom pants with high heel flip flops lol and stars like Kendrick Lamar and Rita Ora and Janelle Monae want to work with him and on his terms and he's rambling like he's wishing he was a 25 year old? In what context are people thinking about when they make statements like this? Since when is Prince a wanna be like Puffy? GTFOH! Like what he does or hate what he does, Prince is not trying to be something he's not.

He doesn't do anything a 25 year old does because he's 57, and would look like a fool trying to. I doubt a man Prince's age could do all the things you say he could do, even if he wanted to, and really, who couldn't smash a Kardashian, that is if they wanted to.

exactly. He dosen't act like a 25 year old at all. He's all about Jesus and music. That's not what a 25 year old usually is about. Just because he's working with younger people and teaching them stuff, it dosen't mean he wants to be their age. [Edited 8/29/15 18:45pm]

^^Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he even say that he didn't want to be around old people, or people that acted old, or something like that?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Not sure what he said exactly but he seems to love to teach the younger people things nowadays. [Edited 8/30/15 1:00am]

The vault comment makes me think any Remasters series with vault material is not something we can expect anytime soon

Intense!
I'm curious now... hey Prince acknowledged the Vault, that's got to be something.

You too?
I think too many people look down on Prince, acting like he has so much to learn yet he has done so much more than so many. Strange.

That can't be, Prince is an irrelevant has-been who records worthless music.

I see what you mean, he's sort of saying that its a stash of unfinished recordings that should be completed and not issued as is.
If the infamous CB set is any indication, it seems to be his genuine position yet I have a hard time believing he thinks all of those songs are not good enough yet.
On the other hand, I'm that way myself: nothing is ever good enough, you have to pry stuff from my cold hands sometimes.

The reporter is certainly having a bit of fun with the Prince/Welton romance: For example: "Welton.. came in through the back door." Or try this: "Welton found himself thrust into the producer’s chair". How about: "Now he tries to make a lot of noise coming in, so I have some warning!” Let's try: "He points over at Prince’s paddle, which no one else is allowed to touch". Oh, and this one too: “I’ve never seen [Prince] ride it". Funny.
