evillol Prince is crazy if he thinks his latest band is gonna have a big legacy. We all know how it works. For the next few months,he will act like they are the greatest band in the world. Then he will discard them like yesterday's newspaper, and that will be the end of their "legacy".

Or it's run, with clarification/retraction of the ageist comments.

Spot on as usual. wink I genuinely think Prince is like a deer in headlights during interviews. You get the silly soundbites about retiring, internet being dead, no-one wants to see old skin, lack of freedom being "liberating", etc. Some of which he directly contradicts and you can't help but conclude he doesn't really believe it.

Occasionally you get a glimpse of the real him and he says something intelligent or truly considered but generally he'd be better off fluttering his eyelids and holding four fingers up. I'm with Stymie here, I don't need/want to know his supposed views to enjoy his music, and I'm beginning to dread hearing them incase it does effect that.

dude there is no "my business" on a public message board. If you don't want people responding to what you say, stop posting. I had been holding my tongue on your posts because you turn on full drama queen mode when someone criticizes you but your comment to soulalive was uncalled for. If you can't take it don't dish it out. You heap high praise on prince and your other heroes but you do not have many kind words for anyone else. That's sad.

lol of course I'm thinking from right now, but it's hard to see a large number of bands artists entertainers from the last 10 yrs as having a legacy. (trying to think 20 yrs from now when I'm 60)

----------- I am not angry about anything. I am more puzzled by the level of stupidity of some of the comments. If you go back and read I am not the only one who does not understand how P dissed (the Great Music God who's ass must be kissed) Dylan and insulted the elderly in this interview. In addtion, even if he did it has no bearing on my life as it appears to have a bearing on the lives of many clueless orgers like yourself.

I say you must not get out much because you seemed to not even understand what a Pimp cane is or another definition of Pimp. I know it is hard when you are sheltered but let me school you.

Some people define Pimp as a guy who knows how to hustle and make it the world. I think at times P may see himself as a Pimp in that manner which is not considered an insult.

And let me school you. Some people also define Pimp as someone who abuses and uses women as prostitutes.....certainly something Prince is not known for. [Edited 5/16/13 16:24pm]

-------- "something Prince is not known for"

You know that and I know that so what is your point. I am not coming at this topic with negativity so I never had in mind that P was that kind of PIMP. You are in out of touch person who does not know the other definition of PIMP. So you learned something this week.

I do not think they were wrong for bitching in the media they were right to bitch about getting paid. See you are so ready to jump on me for being postive that you made an assumption that was dead wrong. I do not worship Prince I just do not spend all my time bitching on a message board about how Prince should give me free concerts, bootlegged music, be nice to his former employees, worry about how he is spending his money, how much he is making and worry about how he presents himself in interviews. See that is your job. Enjoy yourself and ignore my post since they are much too positive for you eyeballs and mind.

But your posts are not positive (as a whole) though. From the beginning, you were quick to criticize those who do hold the same opinion on this article as you. And I agree with what Nu said on the post he is referring to. Nu does not spend his time here bitching about Prince giving him free concerts, bootlegged music, etc. He is probably the most intelligent orger here and gives careful measured critiques when he feels it is called for.

Yes, some people do jump on others for being positive but there is also a flipside: those who are positive towards Prince but spout negativity about others.

- Where to begin!!!

"were quick to criticize those who do hold the same opinion on this article as you."

It is not about an opinion. People are saying that P is attcking Bob Dylan by saying he was not a crossover artist. Well Bob Dylan was not a crossover artist. It is like saying the sky is purple when the sky is blue.

Only a few things can be happening

1. People have poor reading comprehension skills.

2. The are reading the article and blatantly lying about the content of the article.

3. They have no idea what "crossover" means in terms of the music industry.

I will not even go into the age comments in the article. The point is all 3 reasons are wrong, wrong and wrong. Not criticizing so much as I am being factual and some posters not all are wrong.

Sometimes if you cannot stand the heat you neet to get out of the kitchen but do not get offended if someone calls you on nonsense.

Typical .Org. The first chance some on this board get to misconstrue what Prince does/says they jump on it like a trampoline...just stop!

Although some blacks did enjoy Bob Dylan's music, he was NOT a cross-over artists -- heck, in some circles Prince's music was pushed aside by the black community.

As for the "ageist" comments, get real! All jokes asice, Prince has a point. Younger minds can provide inspiration (and I believe that's what he was saying) "old people" are people who are sedinmentary--set in their ways--and yes when you're creating, those may not be the folks you go to for "inspiration", fact! Especially if you're looking to "connect" with a younger demographic. Geeze, I complain about my friends not wanting to do stuff because their "old" -- but I mean "old" behaving/acting -- they've stopped having fun! (And the rest of the "old people" on this board surely know what I mean.) So calm TFD and let Prince do Prince.

3rdEyeGirl is fresh. Their sound is cool and tight -- can't take that away from them. Prince's involvement with the band might last a long time or short -- time will tell, but as someone else said, rather than criticised, Prince should be applauded for his efforts/venture. The fact is, 3rdEyeGirl is getting exposure as a band, same as other "associated artists" what they do with it in the future, is up to them. The music industry is evolving, bands, vocalists, artists come and go, that's the way it is and that's why artists such as Prince, Madonna, Stones, etc. are "worshiped" because only a few have true staying power.

Its Friday, YaY, go out and get some fresh air!

I think people are foolish for worshipping artists. I also think Prince helps these young artists more for himself and how he can benefit by working with them so he gets no applauds from me. Every year he tours he gives interviews that must be done the way he wants it. I think he purposely says things so his words will be misconstrued. It's pretty sad that this is what he must do to stay relevant, get press, and create controversy on prince.org. Certain fans fall for it everytime and quickly go to work trying to decipher and explain to others what they think he meant. Prince is so predictable and he's the one who seems too set in his ways.

Typical .Org. The first chance some on this board get to misconstrue what Prince does/says they jump on it like a trampoline...just stop!

I agree. Prince likes playing games with people, and I too think he purposely say things to confuse others and have his words miscontrued to cause "controversy" (no pun intended). I also agree that, like it or not, Prince is predictable, and has been for some time now, and is very set in his ways. Prince seems to be stuck in time, the problem is that most of his fans have grown up and no longer finds Prince's game playing cute, but Prince still does and thinks it is. He's a few weeks away from the age of 55, it's way past time for him to grow up. Just because you hang around 20 something yr olds, does not make you 20 something. Remember, with age comes wisdom, and those 20 something yr old kids have a lot of learning and growing to do, something I'm sure Prince knows, and uses to his advantage.
