One Night Alone era 2001 - 2003

I'm including Rainbow Children Xpectation C-Note mostly because all promotion was during the actual ONA period

If U're ready 4 one nite alone...
With me

U're the reason I took a rope and lassoed the moon
October, just before dawn
Part of U pours out of me
Lookin' 4 the righteous 2 buy in till we right every one of the wrongs

Are closer, closer, closer than they appear

Ooh, hoo, hear the joyous sound of freedom
Will we say grace 2 Our Father
I'd probably take a rain check till next summer

May. 2002

One Nite Alone

1.One Nite Alone
2.U're Gonna C Me
3.Here On Earth
4.A Case Of You ~ composed by Joni Mitchell.
5.Have A Heart
6.Objects In The Mirror
7.Avalanche
8.Pearls B4 The Swine
9.Young And Beautiful
10.Arboretum [instrumental]

One Nite Alone, U're Gonna C Me, Here on Earth, A Case of U, and Pearls B4 the Swine were initially released through the NPG Music Club in 2001

Very cool era! The Rainbow Children was a great and unique album. Love all songs, and I think Wedding Feast is very funny lol, but my favorite is Mellow.

I also really really really love the One Night Alone... album. It is so beautiful and pure genius. There's not a song on the album I don't love. The tour was amazing too (from what I could listen to). I really wish I could have gone to the concert in Louisville...

My ONA phase has long passed. I thought the live sound was nice, but I really hate the New Orleans jazz band sound and the dogmatic preaching on the CDs.

The world was waiting for a Prince live album, and ONA should not have been it.

That being said, there are moments on the CDs which are really quite stunning, but they only pepper the album.

Not much of a fan of Rainbow children but I love One Nite Alone. Such a sweet, basic, and sensual album. Objects In The Mirror is soooo dirty for a 2000's song!

"Do Me, Baby...oh, oh, OOOOOOOOOOOH"
"Scandalous I'm talkin' bout u n me"
"Insatiable's my name when it comes 2 u"
"When 2 R N Love their bodies shiver at the mere contemplation of penetration"
"Flesh against flesh, And God Created Woman"

I love this era. My first P show was the ONA tour in New Orleans. The sound check was amazing. We walked in and he was singing and playing Do Your Dance at the piano. Talk about the last song you think he would be playing. Also when I got my ONA piano cd in the mail me and a friend listened to it like five times all the way through. Obviously he was also a fan. Great memories.

Strange and funny that "time"-wise we are more removed right now from The Rainbow Children than The Love Symbol album was from Purple Rain.

What?

I believe what was meant is:

Purple Rain, 1984

"Love Symbol" album, 1992

8 year span

The Rainbow Children, 2001

Present day, 2011

10 year span

Hence, we're more "removed" from TRC today than The Love Symbol album was from Purple Rain.

ONA in New Orleans was my first Prince show also. Before the concert we were standing at the back door hoping to get in the sound check somehow. Wasn't a club member at the time. We could hear it some of it. Of course, we much rather have been inside chatting with P. confused

The concert was great though. I later saw him in Bossier City, LA and also in Minneapolis with Tamar.
