I'm going to buy 20 copies and use them around the house. They are quite useful as coasters and when attached to some string they keep the birds out of the garden..

Why would you want to keep the birds OUT of your garden? sad

Lol! They attack my snail zoo. Lost three fully trained hard shells last week to a sniper seagull attack.

how the fuck can you criticize something you haven't even heard yet

you are sad

[Edited 7/6/10 21:32pm]

Who was criticising? I was teasing our orgers in the USA who can't even get one copy without importing it, thanks to princes bizarre distribution methods. It's lotusflow3r/target all over again. Read the context of the post before calling someone sad. You sad man.

Just an opinion from an ol' school fool...

This quote, "... Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that can’t be good for you,” he added.

I think he's referring to analog vs. digital. Our ears are analog, which actually equates to CDs being more limited than LPs in delivering natural sound. With all the talk today about artificial this and artificial that, I think he making a case for a more natural existence, over the plethora of artificial existing factors in our lives today...

Thoughts?

The first part of that quote was "The internet is dead" or something like that, right?

I think it's like someone wrote here earlier:

Prince probably intended to - once again - launch a new website for his new album. Too late, he found out that www.20ten.com was already taken (see for yourself). So to cover up and make it look like he's in full control, he chooses this new strategy - "computers are no good anyway". I don't think he actually believes so himself.

I'm certain he's still using the internet, digital recording equipment, etc.

(Although what you're saying about analog vs digital is true, of course)

I'm amazed it hasn't leaked yet. This is unheard of in the internet-era.

It's been well over ten years since I've had to wait until the day of purchase to hear a new Prince album.

Which in fact is at the center of the snail zoo. I love all the little slime trails they make across his bronze moustache.

Well I've looked, and looked and then just for shits and giggles looked again. No sign, utterly bizzare considering there are truckloads of these cds leaving printing plants as we speak.

eek

But I have found some cool indian dance music called Prince 2010!

actually, I think 3121 and Planet Earth are the only ones that have ever leaked before they were officially available in some capacity.

I think its hilarious that Beginning Endlessly, one of the best tracks on the album, samples Purple and Gold, one of the worst Prince songs ever made. Shows that he's still got a sense of humor and playfulness with his music and his fans.

... what?

The snare roll and the low timpani hits are straight from the multitrack of Purple and Gold

Or vice-versa. If you're right (and I can't bear listening to Purple and Gold again to confirm) then I reckon it's more likely the other way round, that Purple and Gold was recorded within a few days of us hearing it whereas 20Ten has been ready since the end of last year and P's been holding it for a summer release.

There are way too many stickies in Music and More for 20Ten. It is a disorganized jumbled mess and people are posting so many dupe threads because there are too many stickies to look in to see if a post has been made.

I suggest that someone consolidate the threads into one, two, or three 20TEN threads covering various topics, such as one for the release methods( all of them in one thread ) , one for magazine covers/interviews, and one for reviews of the album.

As it currently stands, it is sloppy and poorly thought out.

I had a thought: might the 20ten CD have DRM? Not that it will stop it from finding its way to the dead internet. But I am thinking Prince thinks it might.

That's the one that included "MPLShit" so you didn't miss out on anything. I heard the samples from the new album and they sounded pretty decent for a recent Prince release because I tell ya, if they had sounded shit hoppish like "MPLShit", I was going to leave the new release sitting right there in the store. lol

No. That would be a violation of the Redbook draft that makes an audio CD what it is. Sony got into hot water for trying to do that a few years ago. Of course, if Prince were to release data CD-Roms or -Rs, it's fair game. But that isn't the case here.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

It is strange isn't it? But it's also cool too. It's like the old days, it makes you want to hear it that much more, at least for me it does.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
