just like don't try and tell me that i can't like it ..if u like it goody 4 u and fyi "blinders" r those that sit back and say they like everything he's ever done in his career and dare have an attitude 4 those that speak their minds when they disagree with a song/project/concert whatever.
r we clear now?

good point...I do not like EVERYTHING he has ever put out or done....and I am through getting an attitude towards those who don't like PE or whatever.....

at least I know that I do not have those "blinders on" because I am truly in love with this album cool

clearly u know now that i wasn't referring 2 u cool
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Is this is an existing english expression or one of those clever Prince one-liners?I tried searching the net but couldn';t come up with anything....

I don't know, but possibly ugly folks looking to hook up with beautiful ones?

Given the context of the song, I think that you are right on the money.

I think he is using the old jukebox funding scheme as an analogy for those pressing to upgrade their dance cards by closing time. That’s a pretty clever turn of a phrase.

"Every nickel is this club lookin' for a dime, nothing more, nothing less."

The literal meaning is all the clamoring to find the money needed to keep the jukebox sounding (which this song so belongs on), but the more abstract meaning I think you’ve nailed.

I'm starting to think this song actually has a hateable quality. hateable because I found I couldn't get it out of my head, like many a horrible pop song! lol

it's got to be the catchiest thing he's done in a decade, maybe since Cream

Yes, this song is instantly memorable in a way that he used to be with much more frequency.

and it's the melody that's floating around in my head. That's not something I could say too much about his recent music

I wanna start with saying this is my FAVORITE track on the album and One of my favorite P songs PERIOD. But I wonder if he realizer how dirty "coming on you like thunders sounds"? Especially when placed after, "I've been known to bring a woman to her knees"? lol
Still, lovely, fun track. It makes me smile like Raspberry Beret does. razz

A 'dime' is short for 'dime-piece' - a sexy woman who rates a 10 on a scale of one to ten. This term is used is hip-hop culture.

Well...

Perfect pop song ! Energy, funny sounds, everything's at the right place !

Well... it's been years indeed he has not so well done ! Here is the good influence of some other musicians playing altogether and sound happy to be together again ?

This is my 2nd favorite tune on the album. Personally I prefer the jumpy tunes like this one over the slow and sensual tunes (unless I'm in the mood ya know)...
U can come if you want to, but U can never leave...

My initial reaction was not very positive. I thought it sounded childish and even amateurish.
After a few listens though it grew on me and I've adapted my opinion to 'charming'.

this is awesome . one of his best songs ever . also one of his most catchy an comercial .but far more cool than DIAMONDS AN PEARLS or T.M.B.G.I.T.W ..I cant wait to see this one live or see a video 4 it ..the song kinda has the live sound .its like he caught the sound from the live superbowl per4mance an put it on record .this is very 80s rock/pop an very fun ..but really is one of them songs that i play over an over an it always makes me feel good .the vocals are great an liberatingly sang . the melody is catchy as hell . the lyric is great an alot more straight forward than most prince songs which is refreshing .an the music ..THE MUSIC IS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!! ..perfectly timed .rich .full of killer riffs an hooks .sounds big .uplifting .powerful ..i love it on the 3rd verse where the bass gets louder an drums drop ,,thats so prince ..an everything happens at the right moment.. this is a stadium anthum an a real feel good song . if this came out in the 80s i am sure it would have been one of his most impressive/biggist hits ...i just hope it happens in 2007 ..despite all that it really aint like most of his songs an has a style/freshness to it which makes it one of my favourite prince songs of all time ..let alone on this album ....love it!!!!!

I don't know either, a perfect "10" to feel as a whole.

Just listened to it
Commercially speaking, it should be the next single. Americans specially love this kind of track (Shania Twain, you know it...).

´Chelsea Rodgers´ is great too for a single. For me, the only songs on PE that could have some success...

Can someone tell me the background+highpitched lyrics that take up the last minute of the song after the "Baby please" line? They are too buried for me to get.

I take this line to mean that: a "nickel", meaning someone "less"-than, could be in terms of looks or money, is looking for a "dime", definately "more" than a nickel, in terms of looks or money.

In other words, when at the club, you're always looking for someone who looks better than you or has more money than you.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

HELL YES! This song is a great driving song. Ideal for summer! John Mellencamp would kill to have recorded this jam! IT'S BAD!!! I kept listening to it over and over again. So catchy -- it's irresistible! Please RELEASE THIS WITH A VIDEO! Don't waste this, please! I'm quick to criticize Prince when he misses the mark. But I'm equally quick to give him his props too. With this song, he knocked it out of the park! Seriously, kicked ass! It's a great sing-along song too.

I'll even go as far as to say this -- The 1 U Wanna See is better than anything on the 3121 album. It made Planet Earth more than worth the money. This is why I love Prince. Just when you count him out, he comes back better than before...
