Honestly I really can't believe people actually like this song, to me it sounds like a 50+ year old man trying to get into the pop charts again, this song is sooooo bad it makes me laugh to see people liking it, its so below prince's standards its just so hard to believe he actually put it on a album.

Very successful pop, but entering into a place he's really above. We're talking Shania Twain or some other pop princess. Now they couldn't do the song Planet Earth also, but that's another story.

In the end it's pretty damn catchy.

This is just great, great fun beginning to end....a feel-good kind of pop song...

I wouldn't agree with that. An artist can't always creat some groundbreaking revelation of a song. Sometimes, it's just a ditty, sometimes a bit more. A good artist can do a lot of it consistently....schmaltzy, profound, simple, childish, fun, groundbreaking, and simply different. Prince can do it all. It's also a fault of his cuz his focus is never limited and makes album listening for him difficult cuz his objectives bounce around so much from song to song. Like if every song was a chapter in a book you bought, but reading it, u felt like every chapter belonged to a different book.

I loved this song on the first listen -- and I liked it even better today when I finally heard it on CD.

I drove a round trip to a small town about 20 miles from where I work, along a two-lane state highway. (I wanted to listen to the album start to finish and knew this drive would give me enough time.) As The 1 U Wanna C kicked in, I was crossing a bridge over the Wisconsin river. Over the railing, I could see folks partying out on a sandbar -- and I thought, "Yeah, this song is a total summer party." A sunroof open, windows down, hair blowing in your eyes, head-bopping, sing along with the radio party.

Twenty years ago this summer, I drove another country road in the same area singing and bopping my head to I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man. I got the same feeling today.

I love it when the years just melt off you like that. Thanks, Prince.

On first listen, I hated this song but it's starting to grow on me and I'm starting to like it. However, something funky would have been a much better replacement on the album.
