I believe she shared that story on IG shortly after he passed,if I recall. It's still on her IG from 6.14.16 along with a clip of her dancing to I Would Die 4 U.She said she jokingly asked him what would he do if he had three girls and he responded that he would be glad because their wombs have power. She said that she replied that most men want sons and he said that was because they don't understand God.She went on to say that Prince had "a special reverence"for women and that he understood their "spiritual power"

Thank you, I found it.

.

Since instagram isn't loading right now on my laptop, I will just copy what @lalaescarzega wrote on her instagram on June 14, 2016:

[Video of dance routine to "I Would Die 4 U"]

lalaescarzega "I Would Die 4 U"

Prince was a storybook, he was a fairytale, he was your favorite movie and every moment with him was a dream. Knowing him was everything you could imagine & more. He was the most romantic man I've ever met, he noticed everything about you and made you feel like the most important person in his life. He knew women well, because he thought like one. I once had a conversation with P where I asked him jokingly what he would do if he had 3 girls, (kids). He said, "I'd be glad. Their wombs have power." Me: "Really?! Most men want a son." Him: "That's because they don't understand God." He had a special reverence for women. He understood their spiritual power. -But still, was very much a man. I feel like this song, along with many others, were a glimpse into how well he understood romance & love. He was prolific not just sonically, but lyrically. He also really loved this choreography. heart [purple heart]

His statement "Their wombs have power" is very interesting. He certainly understood the process of pregnancy due to he and Mayte's two pregnancies, especially Amiir's pregnancy. Mayte writes in her book on pp. 132-133 (chapter 6) that while she was pregnant with Amiir, "my husband never said a word about my body except to tell me, 'You're beautiful.'" Then, in chapter 9, she wrote about how he convinced the OBGYN, over the phone, to give he and Mayte the heart monitor. (I suspect he paid the OBGYN a nice chunk of change for that heart monitor lol.) Mayte wrote that she and prince both read What to Expect When You're Expecting and watched videos on how to care for a new baby. I think he had a deep respect for the process of pregnancy and the formation of a new human life from having been so involved while Mayte was pregnant with Amiir, as well as, sadly, from experiencing fatherhood for such a short period of time.

.

In terms of spiritual power, I wonder if he's referring to the way that women inspired so much of his music or if he's alluding to something else (e.g., beauty, sex, lovesexy)?

.

Also, it's interesting, because Mayte said something very similar to Lala about Prince being so detail-oriented. Mayte said the following in an article in The Daily Mail back in 2006:

‘Prince is an incredible perfomer on stage, but when you meet him he's not at all aloof; he's funny and charming and very aware. Now I know other men, I can see how in tune he is with women, it's the way he notices every detail about you. ‘He'll comment on your hair, or acknowledge a new pair of earrings and when he looks at you he makes you feel like you're the centre of his universe - that's very beguiling.’

You're welcome. My laptop is having problems loading IG too. What she said about Prince making you feel like you were the most important person in his life, reminded me as well of what Mayte said in the article with Daily Mail.Prince most likely did have a new respect for women and their ability to give life after what he had experienced with Mayte's pregnancy.I'm reminded of another story that someone who was close to him told about him visiting them at home after their mother had just had a baby and they said that Prince seemed thrilled and was in awe and said "A new life!" I think when Lala spoke of "spiritual power" she may have been referring to the 'divine masculine and feminine' principle found in New Age and alchemy..She calls herself an "alchemist" and I think that may have been what she meant by that. She and Prince seemed to share those beliefs. Prince was simply very close to God. He studied various paths but he was always like that. Even with his humanness.
He was in awe of women’s reproduction.
He also said, “I grew up a lot when my wife was pregnant.”

I was listening to past episodes of the Dr. Funk podcast this week on my iPhone. During the episode E04 The Prince Memorial in LA from May 13, 2016, Dr. Funk talked about how grateful he was to have attended the Celebration of Life Memorial Service that Mayte and Manuela organized in Prince's memory.

He seems to be fairly close to them both.I was never able to find the one where he talked about Prince still possibly having feelings for Mayte. It wasn't the one where they talked about her book like I had originally thought.

I listened to that not long ago. I think it’s from September or October 2016. Not long after she announced she’d be releasing a book. He talked about several close female associates telling him Prince still had deep feelings for Mayte. It’s the same podcast where he talked about The Revolution concert in Minneapolis.

When did prince say he was still in love or had deep feelings for her? Would it be when they first divorced or near the end?

I listened to the podcast with the fans calling in and talking about the Revolution show at First Avenue and I don't think that was it.I heard it when it first aired and he said as amethyst described.Shelby J also said that she had heard and learned a lot about Mayte from the time she had spent with Prince.Lala Escarzega said the same so this would have had to have been within the last ten years.

He told many of his close associates about her, male and female. Shelby J and Kim Berry are two people that have said it more than once. Shelby J had never met Mayte before Prince died but she has said he talked about Mayte so often she felt as though she knew her. There are others he told that she was the love of his life and she continued to inspire him musically as well.

Thanks! I listened to Episode 19.I just listened to Ep.20 and Dr Funk said that he felt that Prince had feelings for Mayte but he thought that his ego got in the way of reconciling with her and being with her.He said that it wasn't expressed to him personally but was "expressed to women who were close to him in a platonic sense."

I found this article regarding prince and Mayte's wedding.

.

Rocker's Princess Bride

By: Helen Kennedy, News Wire Services

New York Daily News

Thursday, February 15, 1996, 12:00 AM
.

The Artist Formerly Known as Prince wed the belly dancer formerly known as Mayte Garcia yesterday in Minneapolis. The bride took her husband's name not his symbol. The marriage license was issued to Prince Rogers Nelson, the star's real name, and his 22-year-old wife wrote her new name as Mayte Janelle Garcia-Nelson. But Garcia, saddled with a fiance who renamed himself a symbol, had to come up with a novel way to say her vows. She told a newspaper she would wear a necklace bearing The Symbol so that when the vows were exchanged, she could point to it and then to her 37-year-old hubby-to-be instead of trying to say the unsayable. The couple wed at a 30-minute Valentine's Day ceremony in the Park Ave. United Methodist Church, shielded by a canopy that stretched from the church door to their waiting white limousine. The minister was a boyhood friend of the pop star. A jostling crowd of 200 fans and 75 reporters stood vigil on the street. A flock of doves was released into the icy air at the end of the candlelight service. The secretive singer whose aides insisted until the last moment that the wedding would be in Paris said the only place to get details of the wedding was on his new World Wide Web page. As the ceremony unfolded, the Web page carried an abstract drawing in shades of red showing two fists both manacled and unchained, and, of course, The Symbol. The couple plans to honeymoon in Honolulu and perform there Saturday, Sunday and Monday with the New Power Generation, a backup group for The Symbol that Garcia sang with. According to Uptown, the singer's official fan-club magazine, Garcia a native of Puerto Rico spent her youth traveling the world with her military father and her mother, a language teacher.
