Shelby does not need to fit into your closed box of what beauty is or what feminine is. She is happy with her looks and who she is and that's all that matters. Know what, based on your comments I hope Prince keeps her on even longer.

Actually, Shelby wasn't TOO bad during this clip. A little overpowering, yes, but I've definitely heard worse from her. What fucked up the performance is, again, Renato playing on it towards the end trying to turn it into some smooth jazz bullshit!! He has ruined SO many live performances of songs with his "jazz" interludes. Very talented player, but he's not adding a damn thing to the performance. And for this, only Prince is to blame, as usual.

I'll probably be crucified for this, but I've been ready for Renato to leave since 2004. His keys are always at an earsplitting level, and he does turn everything into smooth jazz meandering.

I have to admit its tough to stomach Shelby and the other backsground singer(the big girl..no offense but I dont know who she is). Its torture to me. He shoves them down our throats too which is annoying. Its a show killer.

Yes he is irritating and he seems a bit middle aged and conservative for the look of the band...

AS to Shelby - she seems OK but its like she is being used as an attack dog to distract the fans away from Princey!!

I think this is the real problem! Shelby can sing pretty good on most songs, but sometimes she over does it. I think the backup singers just get in the way sometimes too much. Sometimes at the show I can't see Prince b/c they are in the way. I wish he'd let them stay in the background while he's onstage, and then when its their turn to do their song, then they can come forward. Its like with Nothin Compares 2 U, I want to hear Prince do that song by himself sometimes, even though I love Shelby on that song.

I don't think Shelby will be going any where any time soon. He sees something in her, but I don't know what it is. Maybe he connnects with Shelby on a spiritual level.

The majority of Prince's fan base is middle aged.

I seriously don't care what he looks like, or what Shelby looks like for that matter. It's completely their performances I'm not that fond of.

Several people have asked the mods to lock this thread, but there seems to have been no response at all, yet a thread about another associated artist that was only on a short time here, has already been locked, and this one allowed to stay open for weeks, despite the many requests for it to be locked. I don't get why this thread is still allowed to remain open with the continued bashing.
