I like Shelby J in the mix. First of all her smile lights up the room; her energy is so positive. And mostly her voice is powerful and she uses it well. I've noticed the songs she sings fit very well with her style and sound. I like the way Prince is giving her props -- an oportunity to shine. I like the style of these shows because you get lots of Prince but you also get top performers too as an added bonus.

She's growing on me. She still isn't my favorite, but she surely doesn't deserve these kind of threads.

I like her positive, sweet and loving vibe. She seems to get better and more confident in performing for a P audiance. Personally I like her better when she doe upbeat and energizing songs. Ballads get boring. The chemistry on stage between P and Shelby is showing.

The majority doesn't know her and therefore might be dissapointed that she's singing in stead of P. I can understand. Ticket naming could be "P and friends". No expectations harmed then.

I just can't take anyone seriously, who judge her looks . I'm sorry for you that you judge negative about a person because she is bald. Life must be hard for you if you are that superficial and ignorant. Wish you some purifying experiences.

Shelby is awesome though, I love her style she is so unique.

So I see why they roll together, she's got funk and soul

So oh well if you see her, she's not going to leave anytime soon, she is going to pull you up on stage at the next concert, then you are going to tell her how much you love her

well i do agree with everybody a prince show should be prince prince has over 25 albums countless of unreleased songs no need 4 covers or none of that . shelby is kinda bland with no real princely style i dont really c what he finds in her compared 2 what he has had in the past but i do like her singing but if u put her against rosie rosie would sing her off the stage.

I think some people believe that whatever female artists he has on stage with him or collaborate with, that they have this false sense that she should be some "made up image of a Prince girl from the 80s" that Prince pushed to his fans back then, as though that is suppose to be the only type of women, some fans believe should only have the right to stand next to Prince, let alone be allowed to speak to him.

I also think many fans forget that maybe he has a very, good personal friendship with Shelby J, besides just being a band member, which is really none of our business, to be quite frank who he chooses as his personal friends or communicates with. He seems to have a lot of respect for Shelby J, and he displays that during his performance, when he's on stage with her. He wouldn't have her on that stage or in his band, if that was not his decision to do so.

Regardless of how some fans feel about Shelby J, fans will never have the power to tell him who he should be close friends with or what "type" of female artist should have the "right" to stand, talk, sing next to him or even look him in his eyes, based on her looks/physical appearance--how light/dark she is/the quality of her hair texture or no hair at all. That's a wee bit too prejudiced and twisted, to even think that way.

No one is saying any fan has to like the singing styles of any artist, because there's nothing wrong with constructive criticism, but when a/some fan(s), take it over the deep edge, by constantly bashing that artist's looks, assuming she is not the "typical, Prince girl image" or accuses said artist of ''stealing Prince's magic" or shine on stage, then that fan decides to create a "hate" thread on a public fan site, stating how much they hate that particular artist, because they share the same stage with their favorite artist.... well, that seems to fall along the lines of creepy, crazy, stalkerish and obsessive.

Bald is beautiful by the way. Some people don't have a choice in the matter. Shelby has a very strong voice and she does a great job. At the Mar 30th 2011 Concert, she song Misty Blue and brought the house down. It was amazing. I think she fits well in the group.

Shelby like Prince is one person who can pull off a look, she can pull of bald because her outfits, make up, everything is always on point. It's different, but she has the look down =)

i think alot of people dont like alot of his cuurent people cuz none of the ones today have that mystery of the prince world they lack the purple flavor of yester years.personally i love how he showcasing real singers nowdays with shelby,tamar,liv,elisa and ledisi(whom i wish would of stayed she is fierce).rosie voice was one of a kind she could go up against the best and come out standing yet shelby is just a average singer she isnt the kind 2 hit them high notes and make ya shoes fall off.

Good point. I think some forget Prince is not 22 anymore, and can't seem to get used to the Prince of now, allowing other members of his band to showcase their talent, while he takes a breather every now and then throughout his performance.

During Musicology when he did a costume change, the band would do instrumentals until he returned. The only difference now is he allows some of the singers/artists in his band, to showcase their talents, while he takes a back seat for a minute or two. Even some of the musicians in his band gets the spotlight on them, every now and then--Renato, and John Blackwell, to show off their talents. I often wonder if it was W&L doing their solo moments, if they joined Prince in this series of concerts, if the responses would be the same. I notice no one complains like that, when Sheila E is given the spotlight and has often shared the stage with Prince, even doing a lead vocal role, along with Prince on some songs.

Can't help but wonder why the hate from some fans, creating special hate threads about Shelby J, when I've never seen that done about Sheila E or single hate threads against W&L. Interesting. Kind of twisted for someone to start a "hate" thread about someone they've never met.

Shelby and the other two covered "Which Way Is Up?" in Charlotte and it was quite wonderful. All three powerful voices covering a very funky song. I've seen Prince four times during the W2A tour and aside from the "Eyes Of An Angel" cover at the IZOD Center back in December, I am a fan of the three back up singers "sangin'."

Rosie Gaines' role was to sing and then meld into the background, Shelby is not that kind of artist and to compare her to Tony, a third rate rapper cum hype man, is almost blasphemous. Shelby had a career before Prince and she will have one after him. Many of you on here heard her sing "Misty Blue" as I did and it was amazing. If you really can't appreciate good musical talent like that, then you really have no idea what Prince is about. His concerts haven't been just about him since what, 1986? He understands that his platform allows him to showcase people he thinks/knows are talented. He had Esperanza Spalding as an opening act BEFORE she won her Grammy. I know that exposure like that didn't hurt her sales numbers or her chances of getting acclaim and awards.

Man people can be ruthless on this site! Shelby is a great singer with a lot of stage presence. She looks to me like she does whatever Prince tells her to do. You can't get mad at that-or that he needs a break every once in a while. I do however have to say it would be nice to have a small break from her soloing every once in a while to hear the other two girls sing. I love Elisa's voice and the other girl (I think her name is Oliva) has a nice voice too. I think when they sing together they have a really nice blend. Someone mentioned they should do a Pointer Sisters song-that would be cool! Very 80's!!!

Shelby is good, but she sings on too many songs live.
