Maybe you need to tell Prince about his band, I am damn sure he'd disagree

Stop being and idiot and taking his words so seriously...jees... and do we really need expletives?

Show 1 of 4 down. Great to meet Peach and Black boys, thanks for the meet up, I will be there tomorrow too.

In terms of the show very interesting opening:

Gold (complete with glitter drop and arm waving)
Jam of the Year ( what? Didn't see that one coming. Apparently Australia is the Jam of the Year.)

Overall the night was fraught with sound problems, Prince constantly asking for sound adjustments. Don't know who that guy guitar technician was but he should get a slap for his performance. Guitar solo on Let's Go Crazy aborted. Problems during Little Red Corvette too. I hate to see Prince want to shred with the crowd begging for it and the build up of the extended Let's Go Crazy (with Delirious) and then the song just ends.

There were some nice moments with Andy McGee, Sometimes It Snows In April was nice but I would say the energy of the show was a bit up and now. 3 hours is not long enough! It just felt like the pace/flow was a little off. (For me)

This all changed with Cool. He got people up on stage and really turned it out on this one. The sampler set was better than I saw in the W2A shows. The crowd loved it, he played almost the whole of Doves Cry, and had the 80s SOTT chanting going on, Forever in my life was great but the lights were down and for the whole thing and it seemed like the lighting people were also off the mark tonight, missing key moments where there should have been spots etc. At times Prince seemed annoyed slightly but he kept the crowd excited and dancing anyway. Some people didn't seem to care! Alot of people were sweating and beat after the dance a thon. I have to say I missed Let's Work with the Ida bass slap. It was also a weird set up with Mike Hayes up above the soundboard away from the stage. Prince signaled to him a few times but he was hard to see. Weird that.

The other rarity was Love Thy Will be Done, unexpected.. Overall I would say a below average show for Prince. (still awesome but comparitively, could have been better but most of that was due to technical faults, Prince himself was on as much as he could be. Very talkative to Sydney! Overall, it all felt slightly like he never found his groove for any length of time. I think the breaks were also a little long. He needs to tune the mixing and sort out the guitar and lights. I don't want any distractions. It needs to look and sound seamless and it usually is. But Prince did pull off some genius guitar work and had the whole place screaming at the top of their lungs to Purple Rain.

My personal fave for the night was The Dance Electric. After listening to it over the last 2 weeks from Funkenberry, it sounded fresh, vibrant and probably gave the biggest dose of funk in my opinion.

Predictable, with some surprises, the guy never disappoints, they will iron out the kinks. Bring on Show 2. The casual fans were happy. On the train on the way home I heard people saying, why didn't he play Diamonds and Pearls of Gett Off. 20 years later and Sydneysiders still have an affinity with that album as it was his first tour and made for one of his top selling albums in this country.

Thanks Prince for coming back to Sydney and thanks to Peach ad Black for making me feel like at home. As I said, bring on May 12th!

I wasn't talking just the SOTT movie, though. He did it on tour live.

The best night of my life! Finally seeing Prince live, a dream come true! I loved every moment of it. So many highlights. I know for many of you veterans maybe seeing the hits for the xth time or a sampler set instead of a live rendition, maybe you guys might find the setlists dull or expect more. But for someone who's just seen him for the first time, I don't care if he used a sampler. I'll say it, I loved it! I loved every single song, I'm so grateful that he came to Sydney. This is the best feeling ever.

And how awesome was it when he came back riding his bike, and played Peach! So many people left already. My girlfriend was telling me that we should go. I was like, "Sit down, there's no way we're going yet." biggrin

maybe im going to be the only one who was totally underwhelmed by that concert then?

I was at the 02 for several of them in 07, and I thought that was way better than this, and for less than 30% of the price.

The sound in Allphones was terrible

The bass and drums were way too overpowering. Couldnt hardly make out Princes guitar.

Andy McKees guitar was mixed way too low too. He's a great guitarist in his own right and deserves to be heard. Not sure he fits into Princes show. He's fantastic, just not sure he fits

Also Princes guitar didnt work in Lets Go Crazy or Little Red Corvette. He did well to improvise, but it ruined both fo rme, and he wasnt happy.

setlist quite interesting tho, but I will never see another gig at Allphones after this. Acoustics and sound terrible. I was on 2nd floor. Was sound bad for everyone else?

No it was a full song. Not just a chant. Sounded alot like the rehearsal. I don't think too many people knew it lol

demaris lewis sang a bit and mainly did some beyonce style booty shaking with the usual "im scared of you" Prince comment. Dance Electric was basically the same as you heard on the rehearsal snippet. Except with worse sound smile I'll stop going on about the sound now. Maybe I'll focus on ranting about the aftershow debacle tomorrow night. Shame I aint in the Sydney elite

He owned that crowd!

20,000 fans just went of the chain Crazaaay over in Australia - seems like they disagree with ya thumbs up!

perhaps the movie did have overdubs however for the majority of that tour, that band managed 2 play the full song just fine
