Oh, I love Cologne and its people. But the audience still sucked and were rude but that is understandable. Absolutely no prejudice here. And some ladies smelled delicious lol I wasn´t talking about everybody.Sorry. lol The whole experience put me in a bad mood.

But you´re right about the show and Prince. See my post above. Definitely a big letdown.

I went there with very low expectations, but I didn´t know it would be THAT bad.And a lot of the things I disliked had very little to do with the venue or Cologne or the audience.

Got it. You called the people of Cologne rude. Imagine they all were nude. We would have wished there was more black than white. We would have wished there were more rules. Soundwise and otherwise. One thing that really sucked: there was close to none of Cologne's huge gay population.

I wasn't sweaty and rude, but very disappointed. The second cologne gig that sucked, what a shame. The last good cologne concert was the fabulous show in 1992 where I got an autograph on my ticket from Michael Bland before the show. And the aftershow in 1998 was great, too.

To win german and especially cologne's fans back, he should do something. Maybe a one hour special show on Stefan Raab's show "Tv Total". He even dedicated James Brown a whole show. He could do this show, apologize there and give a 45-minute tv-mini-concert or something.

And then play some german festivals next year, dear Prince. For instance "Rock over germany", and you will win thousands of new and very young german fans.

[Edited 7/28/11 19:22pm]

What year is it? There's no "Rock Over Germany" anymore. That had gone some 18 years ago. Thank goodness, the name alone sucked big time.

Just read on Funkenberry about the NPG being apologetic for last night's concert. Blabla. How many times will they apologize? Besides, it doesn't matter to us poor suckers who had paid large sums to get dangerously close to health threatening decibels. I wish Prince will never come back again. He's finished.

Sorry, my fault. I meant "Rock am Ring" and "Rock im Park". You know it's late at night, I'm tired and should go to bed. wink

P is an idiot and at least has issues here.

He did not handle the sound mix issue with least amount of delay.

He did not communicate. He did not start fixing it A.S.A.P.

He did not make a professional impression.

Despite te sound check that lasted for too long.

Also the arena itself had not changed in 13 years. Stairs (!!) to go down to the innenraum.

Who designs that in this age of time?

Where were you? I was wight in front of teh catwalk, center stage.

Poor Prince, crazy germany people throw beer plastic cups....

Crazy Prince not communicating, not acting to fix the issue but instead riding his EGO. (remember that the stage was all empty and you only fix the sound with a sound check which already had lasted for too long!)

and only were yelling when they were angry.

lame. lame lame.

P acted very lame.

It could all have been fixed in 5 minutes.

Instead he acted frustrated.

That is not professional.

Only 90 minutes?

P spoiled it. Really.

He is the man in charge.

He needs to act like a profesional.

He did not. He ran off and did whatever backstage.

Sound is fixed on the stage and behind the board.

I paid almost 100 Euros. I waited too long before and after "Laydown". And what I got was only 75min of music, an uninspired show and a terrible sound.... NOT ONLY THE WORST PRINCE CONCERT I VISITED, IT WAS MY WORST CONCERT EVER ... I don't care if it was John's fault or not ... I expect more professionalism from an artist like PRINCE. Don't wanna see (and pay for) another concert. I got LOVESEXY and SOTT on tape ... best Prince of all time ... more than 20yrs ago ...

Yes he's lost his inspiration a while ago. It drowned in the great book of fairytales.

@NSJ however I had the feeling he's in love again. The songs heplayed, the dedication of songs to Andy.

I surely hope Andy will become his next Susannah.

Anyway

Regarding the sound issues in the recent concerts; WTF happened to the sound checks ? Isn't that to....uuuuhm..... CHECK THE SOUND before a concert ?

Maybe, just maybe he's doing too much shows in a too little time frame (for the $$$ ?).

I mean there's a big difference in doing 21 shows in one venue or doing 21 shows in 15 venues.

Having heard the NSJ recordings and Cologne only being a hours drive from where I live I was thinking about going to Cologne with a friend. Glad we decided not to go.

Man...I was glad I had combitickets! I could enter the venue at 18:00 to eat a delicious meal in the backstage restaurant. I could pick up some soundcheck noise while sipping some fine wine. After the meal I had great seats to overlook the whole venue and a perfect stage view. Prince missed fire that night, but hé... don't you all have a bad day at work sometime? I did disagree with his first Melkweg performance, it was too quick after cancelling Oslo, he should better take some extra rest at that point. Although the show in cologne was too short, (one more encore would make the show more complete, to make up for the delay). It was not as bad as I read here, but still... the food was better wink

Sad to hear. In Helsinki, he didn't do the soundcheck, either, but the actuall concert was a huge success. Sound problems at the beginning didn't ruin the concert. What bothered me more, was a not-working air-conditioner.

if only the sound would be a little less loud, it would be half the job done.
I'm wondering why he likes it soooo loud??
In ghent second show, he was forced to take it down by the city.
He was joking about it, but it seemed ok 2 me.

It's time 4 him 2 listen 2 his fans? 2 many complains
don't let us down, make it funky NOT just loud!!

If Prince (according to some of you) doesn't care about the sound, why the hell would the guy go in soundcheck? And keeps on soundchecking during concerts if the sound doesn't satisfie him.

Have a look at 'The W2A: Euro Tour Song Survey' http://prince.org/msg/12/362417

Wow, if YOU even complain the sound must have been really horrible! Nothing personal, but you were positive on the first NSJ concert, where the sound was THE WORST SOUND I'VE EVER HEARD IN A PRINCE CONCERT, MAYBE IN EVERY CONCERT I'VE EVER BEEN TO lol

In a certain way, it's funny that he shouted the name of the soundguy to the audience, but on the other hand it's a fucking shame. If the soundguy isn't good than fire the mofo! If the sound is so bad that it is a "wall of sound" and you can't hear the bandmembers playing, than change to a 2 hour piano set and the crowd is happy too lol On a serious note: he SHOULD handle with those problems, he's in the business for 30 years. Staying away for 30 mins after one song, who the hell does he think he is?

This tour has brought me the best main show I've seen of him (Ghent) and the worst (NSJ first night) now I hear that Cologne was even worse. It's sad.

Did I mention that I hate Shelby J?

I really feel sorry for all of you guys who went to this concert. And P might have made mistakes the way he handled it....

But to say he has lost his inspiration and doesn't want to play anymore, just doing it for the money..... Come on, that's bullshit. Just look at most of the concerts he has done here in Europe (Gent, Amsterdam) and they'll proof otherwise.

Again, I can understand the frustration, but some reactions are ridiculous.

Hey,

nobody threw something on the stage while the concert or while any band member was on the stage!

Just after the lights came on, no encore happened and workers started to build up instruments some plastic cans of beer landed on the stage! That's the fact!

hear, hear!

I agree, he still played, he also maybe not could played.

He was still trying 2 fix it..

Prince still has inspiration and is happy 2 perform, definitely.

Like what I said seen 6 shows of this tour, and NSJ first night was better than this, really.

I have seen amazing concerts this tour and he really seemed 2 enjoy all the shows.

The real problem is that Prince is obviously unwilling to amit and fix mistakes, such as hiring a halfway decent soundengineer, who can mix a halfway audible arena-sound.

And he is utterly unreliable in his deliverane.

I was there but not going 2 ask my money back, but if there are giving money back, fine.

But 2 me it's not a reason 2 get money back, you got a show, show was disappointing, sound was not good , that's not the problem of the promoters/organizer.. i think
