I'm rewatching TNG now. For the 80s the tones are warm, they look weird now, but then it was warm and opened, no switches and levers everything was touchscreen and the computer had a nice familar voice. I guess this one started out with that too. I enjoyed the heck out of the 1st one, I even got a kick out of the 2nd one, but this one I just feel bleh about. I'd of given it a 2 in my rating but it's ST so I gave it a .5 more for posterity. It's keeping the franchise alive so that's important.

I did like the visual of the warp bubble. That is really starting to annoy me in these old series. How the heck can you see (on the monitor no less) a vessel or be seen while travelling in warp?

It's nice. See I get all emotional over these ships.

You know they even had the nerve to have a saucer descetion in this movie? I was like WHAT? I know this is a different timeline universe thing but seriously, they're just going to jump around and grab random things for various series?

I wasn't crazy about it because of the looping cities over heard. The clear sphere I liked, but those long streets bending over each other just reminded me of Inception. But a lot of people liked it.

Starbase Yorktown.

Yorktown was what Roddenberry's entire source material was about. Living together in harmony, with other planets and cultures we have all discovered.

Let's start on the outside, with the outer doors that let starships fly into the very heart of the base. The first image here shows an earlier iteration of the design, which was later widened

This next sequence continues the Enterprise's journey inside the base, showing the staggering scale, and glimpses of that lovely see through quality of the design that makes the cities visible from within the arms, and lets ships travelling within be seen under the waterways in the arms.

This oxygen fan and 4 gravity plane area was a collaboration between myself and Art Director Dan Hermansen. Milena Zdravkovic also did a beautiful rendering with more green and trees. I always thought of this as an industrial hub. Dan Designed the Cool circular room at the end of the film where the fight takes place, known as the 'Zero Point Chamber'. Note the 2 Dubai Burg buildings on the right which were an agreement between the production and Dubai as we were shooting there.

Leading to this central point are those huge arms, with cities built along them. They are apparently 17.5 miles long!

Weird you cant find a picture that really shows all the looping cities over head. I had just a instant second of vertigo when they showed it, then it passed.

This illustration shows Dr White's design in its entirety. Struts around the spacecraft show how it would be directly attached to the rings. The rings around the spacecraft (shown) would actually shift the surrounding space. The drive would require something known as exotic matter to work, hypothetical particles that violate the known laws of physics (possibly such as dark matter), but as of yet none have been found or created

The main limitation of the concept, (pictured) is energy - previously it was thought mass equivalent to a planet would be necessary to provide the energy required for a warp jump. But revised suggestions claim mass similar in size to a car might be more realistic

He also confirmed a popular theory that’s been circulating recently, about the time period the series is set in. “It’s set 10 years before Kirk, and will bridge the gap between Enterprise and the original series. We’re most closer to Kirk’s mission and get to play with that iconography.” Fuller also said that the series will be exploring events that have been mentioned in other Trek series, but that were never fully explored. He also confirmed that the incident at the center of the series is not the Romulan War, as previously speculated.

I got that Time issue too. Just got back from seeing Star Trek Beyond, I liked it. I'm glad the Enterprise got destroyed and hoping the new Ship dosen't look like the Apple Store. One question, when everyone is going to the escape pods why did Kirk and Chekov change uniforms? Well sounds like they are going to make 2 more movies since they are in 3 years (after the third movie) into their 5 year mission.

I think it's the best of the new movies, first one was so over rated by critics.

Critics never enter into the equation for me. In fact I never even bothered to see how this one rated. It wasn't for me, and I won't be seeing it again for a long time.

OK rank the last 3 movies. For me 3, 2, 1. Part 1 is the worse for me because the destruction of Vulcan and changing of the time line.

1 2 ...*sigh* 3 Hated the destuction of Vulcan,
Could care less about the alternate reality, good, different stories can be told using the same personilities. Bones!!!! :luv:

Khan? Really? *sigh* Oh well it was acted fairly well Bones!! heart but you are getting kind of cliche.

Stupid Kirk being made Admiral 3 years out of the academy stupider being made admiral while being disillusioned about being a captain for only 3 years, sounded more like someone needed a career change not a promotion. And a clear planet that light shines through "24/7", and looks more like an extended roller coaster ride. My brain is rejecting that. Really loving Quinto as Spock even if he's showing more emotion than normal. Bones! love ya but I swear if you do another I'm a doctor not a ... I'll scream.

Nah, the sterile labortory is destroyed. I kept thinking that the whole time while they were on the ship, "with all the glass it does look mall-ish, but damn it's so white I feel like I'm in a lab, where's the caged rats?" Maybe the crew were the caged rats, it was weird looking at it after a while, no personality whatsoever, just flat, gleaming and sterile. I felt nothing when it got destoryed.

They built a new ship, old mall was destroyed woot!

Oh trust I have more on my that's just stupid list for this 3rd one. But I'll let it go...for now.

Yes, the magic robot arms speed building another ship big whoop. I bet it'll look like the Voyager ship since they're trying to cram all the various series into this timeline.

Oh and I finally saw RT, I don't care, I still liked ID 2 better.

Rant over.

Well maybe Justin Lin hated the way the new ship look and wanted to reboot the reboot ship. Hope it has more of Star Trek the motion picture look to it.
