Pop music of the 20th century wouldn't have been the same without weed. Hell, it pretty much created an entire genre (jazz). So go smoke a jazz cigarette and try not to choke on it.

Personally, I think Prince's whole world is music, and probably thinks weed would only get in the way.

Are you really this sheltered from current affairs and so naive to what drugs are and their effects? Sugar is now regarded as the number one health problem, beating even the previous devils like salt and fat. So, yes, high consumption is very bad for you (moderation is the key with anything).

And you can't possibly say you don't do ANY drugs - virtually everyone does. Caffeine, alcohol, prescriptions etc You just seem to think that you're magically healthy because you don't do any of the fun ones, that are only really illegal for the wrong reasons.

You go down a list of all the greatest artists from the last century and around 80% are well - known drug - takers. And the only people on here who are saying that you can't possibly be dedicated to music and have the ability to focus on making quantities of music are people who don't take drugs and, therfore, don't have a fucking clue!

I've smoked cannabis for 30 years and tried various other things too. Not only do I still manage to make music, I run two successful businesses, raise a family, paymy taxes and have never hurt anyone or robbed to fund a "habit". Drug taking has been around since we were cavemen and will never stop - it's a shame though that some people's judgements, tolerance and perceptions remain in the dark ages!

What signs? There are plenty of references to drug-taking in Prince's back catalogue (even as recent as a AOA) and there are plenty of anti - drug stances too. Then there's plenty of lyrics about love and respect for women and then there are lyrics about rape, incest and wanting to convert lesbians! In other words, you can't necessarily rely on song lyrics to ascertain what someone is like in private (and Prince has always been very private).

He has certainly tried drugs (it's been reported) but he's also not a regular user. Anything else is pure speculation and merely reflects your own bias to the subject.

Cannabis can give you loungue cancer, of course that won't happen for you (I hope not)..

Just saying.. it's dangerous, and not healthy at all, and of course in some cases it leads you to hard drugs as well, some people can't resist and trying other and worse things.

Still I wish you the best in life, but cancer is a risk you are taking then..

But... I believe in refrain from any drug, thats how my parrents raised me, when I was a little kid to avoid drugs.

I am not religious at all, non-conservative, more the liberal thinking, usually I am not condemning other people..

but I believe drugs leads to many problems, with health issues and social problems as well, in general.

Do you think I'm not aware of the health risks? Of course I am - but I'm also aware that my father never smoked, but died of cancer at just 53. My grandfather smoked 40 cigarettes a day, lived until he was 87. My cousin died from an asthma attack at 21.....she didn't smoke.

Truth is, you never know what is going to get you. My wife broke her arm yesterday whilst horse - riding. Do I stop her from doing that activity? Does she want to stop? No. Did you know that, statistically, more people die from horse riding than do from taking ecstacy? It's all about relative risk. I enjoy the life I lead.- I travel around the world playing my music, I like to party and have a good time. I'm not permanently high, I enjoy lots of other things too and have a son to raise and business to run. I'm perfectly healthy, (so far!) and try to do most things in moderation.

It is a myth (and largely propoganda) that drugs are.so bad and damaging. Smoking and drinking alcohol are far dangerous than all the illegal drugs put together - but people believe the government nonsense (except for those who have actually tried these things for themselves and then wonder what all the fuss is about)
It's much the same that not everyone who drinks becomes an alcoholic. Some do, most don't. Some people develop a drug problem, most don't. Live as let live really smile

There is no evidence that cannabis causes lung cancer. It also no more a gateway drug than beer.

I really don't understand those who "downplay and justify" the use of drugs,

I am raised to refrain from drugs:

Even "mild drugs" cannabis / marijuana are slowing your brain down, they can lead to harder drugs, can lead to psychoses, and of course they can cause lung cancer.

But

I guess we will never agree on these, those here who are smoking weed (whatever) will defend, and those who think drugs will lead to addiction and bad behaviour, health issues will be more critical, and avoid.

Personally I would never want my kids (in case I had some) use any drugs.

Imho nothing good comes out of drugs-use. That is what I believe in. (Amen)...
