I just bought Season 5 going through it now

then I'll watch it again with commentary

So who´s doing the commentary?

And is there any bonus footage on the DVDs?

Usually the writers, but I'll check when I get home and post the actual names.
Yes there is bonus footage on the DVDs deleted scenes

Totally agree with you about the cliched pimple faced nerd part, it was a bit too stereotypical but I liked that he brought a little bit of that teenage conspiracy theorist element into it, and even though I found him very annoying at first, I started to like him in the second episode.

He may have struggled with that zombie but ,for some chubby nerd he had the courage to at least try something when Madison was attacked. Unlike the reverend or other rather passive characters in TWD. Not bad for a chubby little teenage nerd.

I wonder how his underground knowledge would have come into play if he had stayed on board for a while, and how he would have developed as a character.

He'll be brought back eventually, production in Van or not. I can just feel it.

I see him coming back, too. He's the closest thing FTWD has to a Morgan: a sympathetic character whose undetermined whereabouts keeps us hooked and whose brief returns function as a sort of gauge of the state of civilization in the show.

The ratings for this series have been really good and the critical response quite kind so far. I see that audience hospitality wearing off soon, though. Two episodes in, this show is surprisingly mediocre... at best. If things don't get better, I see not only an announced cancellation by the end of Season 2, but some major presonnel shifts among the creative team to keep this show sellable for even that long.

‘Fear The Walking Dead': Sneak Peek Into Episode 3

There will be a hiatus from AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead next week due to the Labor day holiday in the U.S., but that doesn’t mean there were no teaser videos were released to tie fans over until September 13 when it returns.

WARNING: This article contains potential spoilers in regards to AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead. If you are not up to date with all episodes, please proceed with caution.

In fact, there are two videos to keep fans happy and to add to speculation as to how the remainder of Season 1 of Fear The Walking Dead will unfold. Already, there are conspiracy theories developing in relation to this series, some even suggesting that the whole thing could be a coma dream, thanks to Nick Clark (played by Frank Dillane) being involved in a car accident in Episode 1.

But what can we glean from the following trailers of Fear The Walking Dead? Let’s have a look.

In this sneak peek video of Episode 3 (entitled “The Dog”), Travis is trying to get Liza, Chris, and his new friends, the Salazar’s out of the city where rioting was occurring and — presumably — back to his house where his girlfriend, Madison (Kim Dickens) is. They pass the hospital where Nick was recently, and there is chaos all around. Shots are fired into the undead outside the hospital and the characters in the back of Travis’ pick up truck have to duck for cover.

Added along with the video promos is the following image of Madison and Alicia that was posted to Alycia Debnam Carey:

Fear The Walking Dead returns to AMC on September 13, 2015.

lol support the Walking Dead

I held out till this weekend to watch Episode 2 of FtWD
I think I have just 2 things I did not like
1.) How and Why would people start rioting like that and it's not about the zombie issue.
The people that were shot in front of them the crowd assumed were alive.
The "homeless" man being shot, that scene seems lifted from a real life shooting of a homeless man earlier this year.
2.) Why isn't anyone talking? Why are questions being answered with obscure phrases or silence. Why wouldn't the mother tell her daughter what is going on? Why wouldn't you go out and help the lady across the street? Why did she just freeze up like that? Why wouldn't the other family trapped in the city not communicate with their hosts about what is happening?
That is probably the most irritatiing thing for me.
But overall it was good.

1.They are rioting because they think the police is going too far and shooting innocent , unarmed people. Little do they know that those who are getting shot are infected. And because the police don´t know yet that you have to shoot the zombies in the head to kill them for good, they just keep spraying them with bullets, which looks like excessive police brutality to those witness it, so it´s normal that they start rioting.

-

2. They are probably scared to death and helping the lady across the street who is being bitten by another neighbor is not their top priority. The mom is pretty stupid not to tell her daughter what´s going on. She´s probably trying to protect her daughter but is actually putting her in danger by not telling her what she knows.

And, keep in mind that practically nobody knows what the disease is about, so they are too shocked to come up with explanations.

-

I like the horror movie feel and the music of the first two episodes, haven´t watched episode three yet. It´s a slow start though. A bit more action and thrill would be appreciated.

Is it possible that Madison and Travis did speak to Alysia about what they saw in the truck on their way home? I'd have to watch it again, but it seems to me by the overall reaction of the teenager she didn't know a thing. But now I'm not so sure she's just not a knucklehead and just totally into her boyfriend.

LITERATURE, and FEAR THE WALKING DEAD
FTWD Episode 3 is called "The Dog". I think the title is a reference to "The Call of the Wild", the book by Jack London that Travis was teaching about in the pilot. Is this some kind of theme for the development of Travis, or of Madison, or of the whole MadPack?
Whichever way, it's pretty clever.

Summary of the Book: "The central character is a dog named Buck, a domesticated dog living at a ranch in the Santa Clara Valley of California as the story opens. Stolen from his home and sold into service as sled dog in Alaska, he reverts to a wild state. Buck is forced to fight in order to dominate other dogs in a harsh climate. Eventually he sheds the veneer of civilization, relying on primordial instincts and learned experience to emerge as a leader in the wild."

From the way episode 3 played out it doesn't seem like it.

It doesn't seem like anyone is communicating well, comparing notes.

And the husband, if he doesn't change, he will be one of the first to go
OR his 'good' attitude will get a lot of people killed.

This 3rd Episode was good. They are still missing the chemistry of communicating with each other on what they have seen. Adding a heightened sence of fear.

Sssssslllllooooowwwww

Mysterious past badass

Wants to talk and reason with the zombies

Liked the hospital scene, that explained my question, no they had not seen the dead reanimated yet. When it hit it obviously hit hard and fast.

And I see they didn't talk to the daughter at all.

OK the military sweeps in, and lets the family wander around as they sweep each house, and not hustle them on out?????

It's getting worse with each episode.

So many inconsistencies with their characters. I guess they forgot how they wrote Travis' character in the first 2 episodes because he's totally different now. Like, wha??

People are seeing other people's faces being blown off and their (?) dog eaten in front of them and then a few hours later they are smiling while they learn how to shoot a gun.

Even the scene where they were playing Monopoly - which Madison suggested as a distraction failed miserably. The dumb daughter just goes along nonchalantly after knowing that something horrible happened to their neighbour and the power goes in and out, and Travis is not back, and her bf is gravely ill, and and and... Who the fuck dilly dallies with their headphones on when it's time to go, after literally begging to flee all night long?

And then there is Madison, vapid stare Madison. She seems to have switched characters with Travis. She's figured it all out but still - that stare. This is just not realistic at all. Even when she was trying to create some normalcy in the house we should be able to still pick up on the fear that Travis is still not home, that fucking DEAD people are coming back to life and trying to eat every one.

Oh yeah and the idiot neighbour who comes home all happy go lucky oblivious to well, the entire world...but this is supposed to be explained by him arriving home from a trip. Guess he teleported from the actual plane to his front door and missed all the destruction from the riots, all the military presence, the freaking massacre across the street. Did he come home in a cab? The cabby didn't say anything??? The instant military presence was hilarious. Guess they teleported as well.

Let's not forget Travis and his neighbour putting the garbage out on the street the next morning. Yes, the city is definitely going to be picking up the garbage today. Please don't try to tell me that this is them in shock, trying to keep things normal - it didn't work.

"What's going on there?", "Our dog died" "Sorry about that" WTF??? That's it?

The military is sweeping the area and our family is just walking around. Guess they didn't see the neighbours face on the floor by the back door or any evidence of gunfire.

I know, I know...I'm talking about a show that is about Zombies, but all these scenes could have really worked with some small changes.

The only saving grace is Daniel, who apparently is from El Salvador and familiar with civil war. This can explain his cool demeanor and somewhat critical thinking.

I hate thia show but I hate the fact that I will keep watching in the hopes that it will improve even more.

Too many inconsistencies, and they are really annoying ( Madison´s behaviour, her daughter´s behaviour...basically everything already mentioned by JustErin).

But still better than most of the average zombie flicks that are released straight to DVD. lol

I like the original show so much that I will keep watching this one, too, but I think they should seriously consider using better writers, and tell the actors to....well, act a bit more? wink

Rolled up in a nutshell. They want the blonde lady to be the superhero who is protecting and leading everybody else. She has to appear smart enough to figure out what's going on her own while everbody else is floundering scratching their butts. Hence nobody is sharing even the tiniest bit of information except in those instances that enhance her character. Very typical hollywoodish stuff, same ole, same ole and we all see it.

I found the fact that some of them did not even bother watching The Walking Dead utterly arrogant and stupid. I mean, they don´t have to copy TWD but come on, how can you star in a show that is a spin-off of an immensely popular other show and not even study the original show?

I find it just as stupid and arrogant as not reading comic books before shooting a movie that is based on a comic book.

I bet these people haven´t even bothered reading TWD graphic novels.

Maybe they have and I´m just being mean...but TWD is such a great show and many talented actors would have loved to star in this spin-off, and this is what we get? Folks playing Monopoly and listening to music with their headphones on while the apocalypse is in full swing?

I´ll keep watching, and I enjoy some aspects of the show, but they should seriously step their acting up a notch.

And why is Alicia not asking any questions about what is going on?

I think Ruben Blades is pretty likeable, and his daughter is, too. And Travis is also likeable. But don´t get me started about Madison and her daughter. lol I hate them! Can´t wait for them to go.

Alicia probably hit that kid because she was in a state of shock and just panicking? But yeah, she could´ve been a bit more grateful after calming down.

As the barber/father said the Good Don't/Won't Last Long something like that...

.

That behaviour of the people to some degree is real. People go into denial. Want the world to go back to normal right away. And just pretend. I mean the idea of zombies would flip me out but I think I would still respond at first as "this will be solved and the world go back to normal"

.

That Zombie scenes are the thing that makes it work though. Especially the ones near or at the house.
.
I have a feeling there is something about the dead that would actually cause the dog to run away not go near it.
Same with the Walking Dead both scenes with the horses, I don't believe those horses would ever let those walkers get near it or just sit there and get taken down.

Maybe this is one of those times, not having watch the Walking Dead is a bad thing for the actors, the ones that haven't watched it.

Here's the thing. Other than showing us some so-so acting the actors are simply reading the lines written for them and taking direction from the director - I am SURE the writers/directors either read, wrote, directed or whatever The Walking Dead.

They are killing this show. It will not get picked up for season two.

Thank you. Never have I seen a show that was so frustrating to watch. The Walking Dead could test my patience sometimes but this show takes it to another level.

When the kid saves Alicia from a walker her response is to hit him and say "get your hands off me!" And why is Madison treating her daughter like an 8 year old? Isn't she a senior in high school?

And why is Alicia not asking any questions about what is going on?

This has to be the most apathetic, unintelligent and unlikable group of people ever assembled.

This show is like a bad, cheap drug. You know it´s bad but you keep going back and enjoy the little buzz. lol

I have high hopes that from next week on it´s going to get a bit more interesting, now that they are leaving their house.

I just don't see how Travis is likeable at this point.

Alicia in a state of shock?? lol No way. Just more stupid writing to show us that she hates this kid.

It's like they think the audience is really, really stupid. It's insulting.

Fine, but this phenomenon is not being articulated in any plausible or relatable way on this show.
