I find the misogony on both sides of the issue interesting. One side is saying Ray has the right to punch his wife unconscious if she slaps him. And the other side saying women in general are harmless and no real threat to a man so a man should never strike back. I 've seen on other message boards people comparing a grown woman to a toddler in terms of threat level. WTF?

Folks who feel that way are fucking pathetic.

Shit, I bet Layla Ali could wipe the floor with most of us. biggrin

Wonder how long the marriage will last now that those NFL checks aren't coming in?

Man, what if it would have been Ray Rice versus Layla, she would have knocked his ass out in about 2 seconds, if not shorter lol

If he does his pennance like Vick did, I do think eventually he'll be back in the NFL. I believe in giving folks who fuck up second and third chances, but that's it.

I saw a comment on social media today that was interesting saying that perhaps because the casino filed bankruptcy and is closing that a disgruntled employee leaked the footage to TMZ and that the NFL is basically reacting to the bad publicity (and also not following its own newly penned rules about two strikes you're out with domestic violence)

He should never be allowed to play in the NFL again. Plus, his teammates need to beat the living shit out of him.

No man hits a woman. EVER (absolute life-threatening situations excluded, and this certainly wasn't one).

Any man that hits a woman is not a man at all. He's nothing but a pussy.

I believe in the Chris Rock philosophy - If I'm on the receiving end of an unprovoked attack by a woman, I won't hit her, but I'll shake the shit out of her.

I find it hard to believe the NFL, with all its money and resources, are seeing that vid for the first time.

I do, too. I think they saw it and hoped no one else would. When the suspension was handed down, the NFL, or reporters through off-the-record NFL sources, said something to the effect that "If you saw what happened inside the elevator, you'd understand why he only got a two game suspension".

This isn't a black thing, despite the race-baiting that Graycap is attempting.

It wouldn't matter what color the man is. When you see the video, you will understand that the reaction most have would be the same no matter what color the man.

On top of how bad the punch was (and it was really bad), Rice's reaction appears to be "Oh man. Why did she have to go and ruin my day by getting herself knocked out?" We can't hear anything Rice says, but he doesn't appear very concerned about picking his wife off the floor.

He's allegedly an NFL running back, and he isn't strong enough to pick a woman up? Yeah, right. He could, he just didn't care to. Hell, at one point he kicks her legs out of the way, trying to get the elevator door to close. The pussy wouldn't even bend over and pick her up. What a total pussy Ray Rice is.

It's a very disturbing and disgusting video.

He probably will be let back into the NFL eventually, but he needs to start his rehabilitation tour tomorrow. He needs to check into anger management and couples therapy and after he deals with his personal demons, make nice to women's groups by donating some cash to battered women's shelters and film some PSA's against domestic violence.

The reaction only seems harsh now because this inside-the-elevator video leaked, but this is what should have happened in the first place. If this video came out the first time when it should have, he would already have been suspended from the league and probably facing jail time.

Oops, the gig is up. As long as that video (and they knew) was kept on deep back ground, many people were willing to place the blame on this woman. As long as this was out of sight out of mind...the band played own. The victim is the young woman, maybe I missed something but he knocked the shit out of her. Some way some how man are given bullshit pass or flip the script to place some blame on the victim, still. It's even more disturbing when woman repeat this bs. Amazing.

Roger Goodell should either be fired or he should resign, allow him to take his pick.

Under Roger Goodell, the NFL has the license to print money. The league is bigger than ever. He's not going anywhere as long as he's good for business.

These sports comissioners are nothing but highly-paid errand boys for the owners.

We both agree it's not a black thing in terms of domestic abuse. My point was that since these two are celebrities, now they have to stand for a whole lot more because of this animal known as media. So while it has nothing to do with race and we would all be offended no matter the perpetrator, the fact is he, along with Chris Brown and OJ Simpson, will be the convenient face of domestic abuse. The prospect of another race doesn't even have to be entertained. They should all know better instead of acting like they were born yesterday.

Ain't a thing hidden these days, is it? You know I'm not feeling greatly empathetic for either one. Maybe I've seen too much crap from both ends. Keeping your hands to yourself seems like a excellent rule of thumb to live by for both sides.

All I can hear in my head is Erykah Badu's song "Get Money", that's not very nice of me. sigh

I can agree with this post here, just from an on lookinng, ignorant to the actual facts, I'm going to go out on a stretch and assume certain things, ( my disclaimer already given), and use my own domestic violence experience as a point a view.

I guess whatever the issue was it was an issue that has happened before, and had happened again that night-- I assume it has to do with another women(s). This is THE ONLY reason I can see a woman getting THAT mad enough to hit and keep hitting a man. This seeemed like an "I'm fed up" fight (me just guessing). She slapped and or swung on him first, looks like she connected and hit him at least twice and then he hit her back and she still kept coming then the knock out punch.

All of this is sad and disturbing, but my experience with domestic violence knowing the rage, lack of jdgement, and out-of-controll behavior that comes with it; no one is thinking clearly and no one expects to be in dire straights for either party. But he could have ATTEMPTED TO RESTRAIN HER AND NOT KNOCK HER OUT!

Here's where it was different for me.

How he reacted when she was knocked the fuck out -- he seemed neither surprised nor panicked by her condition at his hands. It evened appeared like he kicked her a little like he was annoyed with the inconvenence of her being knocked out, when she was in the eleavator doorway. It read to me that this behavoir has happenend before and he was fed up, (her hitting or slapping him), or he is just a violent asshole -- none are a good thing..

That is what I saw in that video, and I admit I'm ignornant to the facts and I have no clue to the backstory.... But damn, when they teach thses athletes about the perils of new wealth they now shoud teach them about how to restrain their significant other without physical violence. And the wives/ fiances/girlfriends of altheletes should learn what to expect of a man with new found fame and money

It had major coverage on the internet. And FWIW, "War Machine" will never fight MMA again. Neither UFC or Bellator will touch him. Bellator dropped him before he was even charged. Heck, UFC cut ties with him over things he said about President Obama, and now he's been charged with attempted murder. His fighting career is over.

I'd say he's been banned for life.
