Avengers: Ironman and Hulk rocked it

Saw the movie yesterday in IMAX. My expectations were very high and although the first part of the movie is a bit boring, when the action starts it really starts and I didn't get dissapointed.

The effects are so good. Hulk (he looks really impressive) and Ironman make this movie.

Thor is hot as always horny , Captain is a bit boring (but works well with the other characters).

Good thing about the movie, besides the special effects, is that the actors are all very good.

You can see the really enjoy playing their role.

The must see big movie of this year, but see it in IMAX. You'll get blown away, Hulk smash!!! headbang

How was the script and the direction?

It's really about the special effects and the actors (which is rare for a movie like this). The script isn't very exciting. It's not like X-men first class, which I thought has a really good story.

Avengers is really a popcorn movie.

I also saw the trailer of the Dark Knight before, and I expect that one to much more serious and dark. Avengers is sometimes really funny.

You can say what you want about the movie, but terrible graphics???

I hardly have seen a movie where the graphics were this good.

As I said. The graphics for the Aliens were really bad. The rest were top notch. The movie as a whole however, sucked goat balls!

Hey Bats, when are you and your Justice League gonna come out with a live action movie like the Avengers just did? You guys are falling behind the Marvel universe. disbelief

SPOLIERS!

Just a few reasons:

  • In the Final battle : there was no real sense of threat or danger, at least to Avengers. The Chituri alien army isn't that powerful, they could have been defeated by normal human Army
  • The Leviathon looked ridiculous
  • The Helicarrier scenes dragged and were boring as hell
  • the fact that the Chituri all just drop dead like the battle droids in Phantom Menace. Seemed like a bit of a copout.
  • I felt like the opening scene with the Chitauri happened way too fast with very flimsy explanations for their motivations
  • I loved Loki in the beginning but as the movie went on, he got more and more dull. By the end he was just kind of there. While I loved the whole Hulk beating him down, for a villain who is suppose to always be 5 steps ahead of everyone else it was a weak ending for him.
  • How Hawkeye was cured from his brainwashing??. "I just hit you on the head". WTF ?
  • The aftermath of Coulson's death. I know what they were going for, I know it was an important (THE most important) part of the movie, but Coulson was not a strong enough character in the entire MCU to carry that weight with his death.

I got what I expected. wasn't much but enjoyable.

The dialogues were light and fun. Like in the previous post from Andy Keen, there were plenty of weak spots but the comics have those too.

Loki was my favourite character.

small circles, big wheels!
I've got a pretty firm grip on the obvious!

You're right with your points. Like i said, it's really a popcorn movie. The enemy could have been much stronger, but i think this first was really about getting these superhero's together, and not so much about the enemy. They'll make a second movie to do that.

I really, really had fun on this one.

It's formulaic and just plain silly--but sooooooooo much fun.

I wish it were a bit shorter though--it was just too long.

And I thought Tony Stark stold every scene he was in. Robert Downey jr. is a genius

at delivering one liners.

The "I am a God" scene between Loki and Hulk had me rolling! falloff

Overall, a great, fun film. It is what it is and doesn't pretend to be anything else.

Just a fun, slightly camp, superhero movie. A great escape for 2+ hours.

This probably isn't a good time to bring this up, but did anybody else think

they used far too much hair gel on Loki?

Yes, I thought that movie was really, really funny sometimes. Whole theater was laughing. smile

And you're right, that scene between Loki and Hulk was hilarious. Also when Hulk just all of a sudden smashed Thor away. lol

Hey loudmouth, shut the fuck up, right?

There are alot of movies with good CGI, it's the norm.

There are still a lot of big budget movies where the CGI isn't that great.

I wanna go. But I doubt I'd get a seat this weekend. Someone from my job is going to a marathon tomorrow at 11am starting with the Ironmans then to the other charaters ending with a midnight showing of the Avengers. I wish them luck, I don't think I could do it.

I like the idea, but that's like 6 movies in a row....couldn't do it either.

I'm beyond excited!!!

But i am a bit dissapointed to hear all the disses on the story/: i mean this is Joss Whedon doing this. Writing & Dialogue are ESSENTIAL to his works. Hmmm guess i will have to see for myself tomorrow!

FUCKING LOVED IT!! finally they got it right in using the Hulk! I liked the use of even minor characters in the previous Marvel films as well. I am so not a fan of 3D movies and was happy that the theater by me was offering the regular version and it was PACKED for the midnight showing!

as with all marvel films ..STAY UNTIL THE END PEOPLE!

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

yes, the Hulk was very entertaining. They don't show him much in the trailers, so it was a pleasant surprise he comes out so well.
