Awesome superhero flick! As for the ending - WOW!

After waiting about year for it to come out, I'm just relieved it's finally here. It was a fun ride. I want to see it again. I laughed alot, lots of humorous lines and moments. Just having all of those actors in one movie and it worked, which it that much more enjoyable. Enjoyed mentally drooling over Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., and Mark Ruffalo (who was awesome as David Banner/Hulk). Oh yes, definitely stay until the very end!

Both Black Widow and Hawkeye have significant presence and use throughout the movie. I don't know if that's good or bad thing for you, Lammastide.

They'd honestly be the two most interesting members of the current film roster. Maybe I'll check it out.

For subsequent films, though, I'm gonna need some rotation in the line up.

Just a few reasons:

• In the Final battle : there was no real sense of threat or danger, at least to Avengers. The Chituri alien army isn't that powerful, they could have been defeated by normal human Army

A major plot point was that if the heros were able to band together, is it THEY who would be the threat to the alien army. That was proven. The Final Battle was supposed to be a curb stomp in favor of the Avengers. It was a matter of stopping the Cosmic Cube because of the large amounts of collateral damage in a prolonged battle.

Alien bug swarms are a staple of the genre. Not sure why the hate here.

• The Helicarrier scenes dragged and were boring as hell

How else would you have established the character interactions and tensions?

I agree. I would rather have seen the police and military making head way and helping the heros.

I think you have to tie that in with Captain America's movie. But really... all we needed to know was that they were mad, and wanted to fuck with earth.

• I loved Loki in the beginning but as the movie went on, he got more and more dull. By the end he was just kind of there. While I loved the whole Hulk beating him down, for a villain who is suppose to always be 5 steps ahead of everyone else it was a weak ending for him.
  

There are multiple reasons for this. Chiefly, Loki is a tragic character. He's a villian, but his characterization ressonates with the viewer. You can feel almost sympatheic for him, and want to root for him to just accept that his brother loves him, and that he loves his brother too, and get over their daddy issues. So he can't be the biggest Big Bad Wolf, ya know. Also, we needed to get the feeling that he was never in control of the situation to begin with. That there was a more powerful hand directing the pieces.

• How Hawkeye was cured from his brainwashing??. "I just hit you on the head". WTF ?

Do we really need a No Prize explaination for it, or can we just take it as presented? I will say, however, that I wasn't completely certain that he was cured from the punch. He still showed signs of possession in the beginning of the recovery scene with Black Widow. I'm positive that she lied to him and there was something else at play. I'm okay with lingering plot points, as they can be followed up in future movies, TPB Novelization, etc.

That said, we do see Thor's friend Erik Selvig lose his possession by enduring a large concussive blast, so...

• The aftermath of Coulson's death. I know what they were going for, I know it was an important (THE most important) part of the movie, but Coulson was not a strong enough character in the entire MCU to carry that weight with his death.
  

Agent Coulson's death was HUGE. He has been the unifying force in the entire run of movies leading up to the Avengers. My god, if only they would bring him back as a Life Model Decoy that eventually turns into the Vision...

As expected the movie is huge. It opened last week in a lot of countries and already made 300 million there.

Um, Hellboy? For us that are not well versed in the genre that's a big question.

I enjoyed it, and the after credits scene was funny. Hulk stole the show the most. And man, was I just drooling, goodness. Heck even Black widow made a great first impression with me. Captain America sure was bossy, but he looked good. I did yell out once, "what the heck is his shield made out of, dang?" Folks near me chuckled but I didn't mean to do that. Again, I had a lot fun, didn't feel all serious about it, there was a scene or two I questioned but there were too many other things going on for me to get concerned about them. Everybody got pretty good screen time, and I'm surprised about that. But I'm mad about the Agent, I liked him.

Yeah, mayne, as you already know, I LOVED this shit too. There were so many ways they could've fucked this up, and thankfully, they didn't. I purposefully avoided this thread (the spoiler portions) so I could really be surprised with what I saw.

As someone else in this thread said, the Hulk was tha shit in this film! He's a bad muthafucka, which is what he's supposed to be. I like how he got the better of Thor, ultimately, towards the end. Funny ass shit. Anyway, as good as I felt Ed Norton was as Banner (and originally disappointed that he wasn't coming back to play Banner in this), I feel Mark Ruffalo has now cemented himself as THE Doc Banner. Great job, Mark!

The regular showing first thing in the morning was sold out, so I had to go to the 3D showing that started 10 minutes later. I never go to 3D movies, so this one wasn't too bad to be my 3D virgin experience.

At first, I thought the person on the rock in space was going to be Kang, but I was even more excited that they're hinting at the next boss will be Thanos (the Marvel universe's version of Darkseid).

The second after-credits scene was funny.

The movie is on pace to make $200 million this weekend at the U.S. box office.

True. DC had Joss Whedon directing their Wonder Woman movie, didn't like his ideas and let him go. So Marvel snatched him up for The Avengers which will now make a billion dollars worldwide after its first ten days.

I also saw the trailer of the Dark Knight before, and I expect that one to much more serious and dark. Avengers is sometimes really funny.

X-Men First Class was weak. Better than the third X-Men but not as good as either of the first two.

Avengers is a good movie. Someone has finally done The Hulk justice.

Avengers approaches 'Matrix:Reloaded."

Avengers is serious, but rarely dark. It wasn't needed.

Cinematically, it's could be the best movie of the summer season.
