Well, I guess I'd better get my two cents in.

This year, I don't have much Christmas spirit either. Ironically, while I'm not exactly flush with cash, I do have some money to spend on gifts if I choose to, yet I don't know what my family members want, and for the most part I only intend to get gifts for my younger nieces and nephews. This is supposed to be a time about giving and loving one another, yet all the stuff I see in the news is about rich people living it up while working people are losing jobs and getting their homes foreclosed on. And on top of that, the whole pepper spray incident on Black Friday really pissed me off.

And then I have to deal with all the Fox News bullshit about the "War on Christmas". All they do is bitch and complain and spread hate towards anyone who has a dfifferent skin color, or doesn't follow the Christian religion. There's some real suffering going on in the world, yet Fox News keeps perpetrating this fake outrage because somebody wants to wish someone else a happy holiday. It's this knid of stuff that really turns me off from celebrating the holiday season. (BTW, Jon Stewart eviscerated the whole "War on Christmas" crap with a pointed history lesson on The Daily Show last night.)

And then there's the office parties I have to deal with. Most of them are a pain in the butt to attend, but you have to show up for them anyway. However, I will admit that one of the best holiday office parties I attended was a private party for members of a different department in my office, yet they invited me to come over anyway. It was really fun, and by the end of the night we were all salsa dancing.

Fuck good will toward men. The spirit of the season is something different for everyone. For me its good food, winter beer, occasional get togethers with family and friends, some stress free shopping, twinkling lights aroundt neighborhood. Shit like that. I don't treat anybody any different because it's Christmastime. I still hate everyone.

he is sick again (3rd time since November), he's like been constantly sick... but today we put up the tree.

It's a little fake tree, with a mooglash of all types of ornaments and colors... but something happens when he smiles (even while sick) and the hot cocoa is passed around with candy canes in them.

We just sit down in the dim room and watch the pretty lights....just my kids and their happiness.

this was my situation last year, my husband and i bought our son a wii last year, but ended up having to return it before chirstmas morning, because we needed money to buy food. on christmas morning my son did have one small gift. which was fine with him....but my husband and i just felt so bad that we had to return his better gift. he still doesn't have a wii, but it's okay, he plays with one at his friends house. thank God this christmas is a better one. i hope everything gets better for your family as it has for mine this year. hang in there.

I'm usually uber excited about christmas, but i've got 99 problems to deal with right now so christmas isn't really on my mind yet.

It'll work out ok though. I'm sorting things out one thing at a time and as long as I stay positive and keep my issues in perspective it'll all just happen. And then i'm hoping to sit back on christmas day and smile about how lovely things are. There are people who are far more worse off, right?
