Wow, where was your imagination!! lol

I would set up homes, jobs, grocery stores, marriages and just play all day! I would even do barbie laundry!!!

My imagination was in the beautiful, handmade outfits I would create for them. hmph!

lol

It was actually my favorite thing to do as a child. My mom and grandmother taught me to sew when I was about 4. I could even put elastic in skirts and sew snaps on and everything.

Right, now I remember! Couldn't play with them, but I used to do that as well. I loved drawing and designing clothes, but I think I wasn't patient enough to sew it and all, so I guess I gave it up quickly. But if I remember correctly I did make a few dresses nod

Do you still sew? That was the one thing I just couldnt do... I tried many times but the patterns were confusing to me! lol I think about trying it again now, but hate to invest in a machine if its not gonna work out...

I sewed a bit through my early 20's, but didn't make anything from "scratch". I mostly added to and modified things to get a certain look I wanted. Mostly adding things like feathers and sequins and such for going out at night.

I got a sewing machine from my parents for Xmas a few years ago and sadly have only used it a few times. I keep talking about pulling it out and really practicing again, but I just haven't.

I really need to.

My brat cousin Darlene was an only child. My uncle and aunt turned the extra bedroom into a "Barbie Palace". She had every kind of Barbie and Barbie-related item you could think of.

When my sister and I went over there, she was SO SELFISH! mad

I wonder what happened to all that stuff... hmmm

I never knew how to play with dolls. Whenever I'd get one, I'd tell my mum to give it to someone else. However, when I was about 7 years old I wanted to have one of those fancy Barbies (the one with the flower dress, and that princess with the looong hair, can't translate it's name now) and I got them, but I only enjoyed doing their hair every once in a while and putting their clothes on. I simply couldn't play with them and I'm always kind of confused when I see how many Barbies and other dolls some of my friends have had and played with during their childhood, while I just hoped nobody would get me any kind of doll giggle I loved it when someone would get me something to draw with, books, notebooks, animated movies, and I also loved stuffed animals. But never knew what to do with Barbies boxed

well, my Barbies didn't do much more than own a record shop (complete with mini 1999 records lol ) and have sex

Well, our theme was always having the Ken doll be Prince, and the other dolls would be the protoges/girl friends/mistresses. Prince always had a wife, but that was the one thing that nobody wanted to be because no one wanted to be cheated on. We all wanted to be the one cheated with. And there was lot's of sex, lol.

I'm assuming these are for adults? I don't get the appeal of having dolls as an adult. None of the dolls look like the people they are supposed to be. Don is much more handsome, Roger has wrinkles and is skinny, Betsy is doesn't have big eyes (which I think are the wrong color) nor har as big, etc.

Since my name is Teresa, I was always given Teresa dolls. Before she came around, I was given a Dana (Barbie and the Rockers) and Derek and a Miko. Also had a Greek Barbie. I used to have my NKOTB dolls date the girls. I still collect them here and there. I love my Rizzo doll, but I really want a Joan Jett!

2Naby7

I remember as a kid, I wanted to have the black Barbie and the tan, brunette Barbie so my blue-eyed, blonde doll would have friends of different ethnicities.

My mother wouldn't let me get Barbies of colour (which is funny because we're MIDDLE EASTERN, although albeit, light-skinned), so all my Barbies were blond clones.

It wasn't until I became older that I realized that our culture glorifies pale skin, blonde hair and blue eyes and to her, that was the only kind of Barbie worth getting.

You lucky I was wise beyond my years, Mama. I may have picked up that bullshit belief system of the Orient. hmph! hmph!
