The "I think I love you" bit was totally off the mark. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

Well, remember...this is the "Alternate JJ" Star Trek-verse. Maybe the green bitches don't excrete over there? • Did you first think Prince was gay? •
Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

Well, remember...this is the "Alternate JJ" Star Trek-verse. Maybe the green bitches don't excrete over there? I would think that in order to have a career in Starfleet, that controlling effect would have to be medically suppressed. Otherwise, they're looking at a world of trouble from any Orion that joins the ranks.

Finally saw the flick tonight. Loved it! Had no objections to the whole time travel/alternate universe thing either, and I really thought I would.
Two things though: 1) Spock and Uhura? WTF? 2) This movie has grand slash potential, though I doubt that was deliberate. Ah well. Roddenberry was not opposed to the idea, and that's what counts. Spock and Kirk are, after all, The Granddaddies of Slash. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

There were a lot of things in the movie that referenced different Trek series and movies. I am familiar with a lot that went down in the Trek universe and even then I was surprised at how vaguely certain things in this new movie were described or explained. Guess they figured it'd just be the hardcore Trekkie set showing up at theatres. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

For one, I'm not sure it would be obvious to people less familiar with Trek that this new movie isn't the backstory we've had for 40 years, even with the offhand comments here and there in the script about it. (that the time thingie allowed a different sequence of events?) Yup. They essentially created a whole new continuity with this movie, via the alternate universe. What's going on in the new Trek is not what's said to have happen prior to the original series ever before. We've really got two of everything now. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
