Aw, man. I loved it. The folks in the theater I was in applauded at the end.

Loved the way it left itself an opening to continue, that would make sense to the old fans and encourage new fans. To me, that was storytelling.

It was good. I'll need to see it again to fully develop an opinion.

okay, I liked the movie, but I don't think I'm going to sit through an 18 minute interview with those two.

unless they start making out or something. or have a "sword fight" halfway through.

Chris Pine is totally NOT my type of guy.

But he's beautiful despite. The only weird thing is that his face seems to be all squished into the lower half of his head, leaving an enormous forhead and crown. It's like all the busy stuff on the face (eyebrows, lips, nose, etc. all go crammed into the bottom half).

I will be honest, while I enjoyed the film, being a long time star trek fan I thought the alternative timeline was way to easy to mess with the canon and get away with it. I'd have been more impressed if jj. abrams created a movie that fit into the canon.

Next time just make an original sci fi movie, instead of treading on a classic.

Overall I enjoyed the movie. I thought Spock and Bones were the best characters. Didn't like the time travel aspect of the movie.

I wholeheartedly agree with this.

Also, I felt Urban did the best job of honoring, but not parodying, the character he was playing.

Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

Like Cloverfield? lol

As someone who enjoyed all the original TV Star Treks - I thoroughly enjoyed the current movie and actually LOVE that the writers opened another door for future adventures that will take the franchise in a new and fresh direction. I am looking forward to the next Star Trek movies - as they do not effect the integrity of the original.

I thought the Chekov character which bordered on parody was just so wonderfully played that it was almost brilliant. Every time he opened his mouth it was just great comic relief.

i really liked it.

i wasn't crazy about the whole alternative reality thing, because i think it kinda makes the whole original series moot...however, once i accepted that it's just how it goes, and they did a good job of committing to that decision, i really enjoyed everything else about it.

i'm really tired of j.j. abrams and his whole "time anomaly" fetish these days, but if the rest of what he does can justify that little bit of cheatery, then i'll turn a blind eye to it. i'll complain, mind you! lol but in the long run, if the whole of the film is good, then i'll get over myself and appreciate it.

I loved it. They made a fun blockbuster summer movie without ruining anything that came before it (for me, anyway--but I guess I should admit that I was never a Trek fan). I found it to be just a great, enjoyable film.

Me too. My whole family likes Star Trek, and I must say the movie was outstanding. Made me proud to be a trekkie. nod

Hearing my oldest say it was better than Wolverine was still a surprise though 'cause he really loves his Xmen. lol

I agree about Chekov. I was waiting to hear what you thought about Spock? I wasn't sure the actor would be able to brush off the Sylar character but he pulled it off nicely IMO.

As a Trekkie I've waited for this movie for two years now and was saddened when it kept getting put off, but it was worth the wait.

I love it!!! I admire how the director took his time, making sure the cast was right, the story was right, and the special effects. you could tell they really wanted to honor the Star Trek legacy. i was hooked from the beginning.

That guy who played McCoy did a great job, "Good God Jim!" lol

I thought the young Spock was great.

I wanna see it again.

Me too, I thought the film was outstanding. The time travel angle is always fun to me.

The only actor I feel did not exactly capture their character was the one that played Uhura.

The alternate universe thing is tricky though. Like how comes Captain Pike was made an admiral before he meets those butt-head people in TOS, (Menagerie episode)? That's how he became an invalid and I didn't see the need to change that for the story. I also don't know why they had to kill off Spock's mother when she outlived his father in TOS? couldn't they have used another plot device to provoke Spock's emotional outburst?

Finally, I think they got their black holes confused with their wormholes, lol

I still loved the movie despite those little details and I'm gonna go see it again.

I didn't know you was a fellow Trekkie sis! woot!

Overall I loved it. I think the director did the Star Trek franchise proud. Like you said, I was hooked from the very beginning watching Kirk's father sacrifice himself even as his son was being born...that got me, I tell ya.

The movie was so well casted that the only one I thought didn't quite pull it off was Uhura. Spock and Bones nailed it as did rest of the cast.

Was I the only one who thought Mr Sulu was totally badass when he whipped out his retractable Samurai sword? lol

The funniest thing was how my son kept laughing at me for saying "what about the music"?, several times. I was NOT satisfied till they played the classic theme and Leonard Nimoy says, "Space, the final frontier".

Then I got all choked up... falloff

Plus any time the time lords from Voyager can come back and correct it back to the original timeline. wink

I thought overall the casting was great and I didn't really have any problems with the actor's portrayal. Though sometimes Chris was trying to hard to be William Shatner. N I didn't much care for the Spock/Uhura relationship, Spock doing sexytime didn't really gel for me. It seems that in this one, they're trying to make Spock more human.

I think that Zachary did a great job n I didn't have any problem with him, as I stated earlier I have more of an issue with how Spock is now being written. Even with the alternative timeline in play I think that Spock would have still been raised and embraced the Vulcan side like the original series. Nero's first appearance which shaped the new kirk's life most likely did little to Spock's. He should even when attending starfleet academy be more true to his vulcan non emotional upbringing. Though as I said earlier the writers seem to want this new spock to be more emotional and conflicted. Though that goes against the original premise of the 3 main characters, Kirk, Spock n McCoy,being the parts of the human experience.
