KidaDynamite said: CalhounSq said: Serious question (which SirPsycho neglected to answer!): what do you guys DO with your locs when you trim them?
Am I the only one who feels strange about just throwing them away in the garbage?? I don't like flushing them down the toilet either. Frankly, I like to burn the ends. Maybe it's that old wives tale about birds getting hold of your hair, making a nest & therefore making you go insane But yea, me no likey dat... Threaddy - did you cut your own or did you leave them on a barbershop floor somewhere?? I was told that if you throw your hair in the trash that someone could find it and practice voodoo on it so.....uh....yeah, I throw my hair in the toilet. My "dreads" were little more than hopeful twists, at that point. I combed 'em out, grabbed my clippers and went at it. All those years having sat in barbershops made me care little about what happened to the hair. The blood of Jesus Christ prevails, y'all.

Loving this thread. I grew my locs for 12 years and it was one of the most important choices that I've made. Like Rhondab said in her poem, they hold energy and connect you more to nature/the universe. It really is a spiritual thing. Kept having dreams that I was supposed to cut them, and eventually I did. I dont regret it, cause I still carry that energy and the lessons learned with me(friends still call me dread), but some of these pics have got me all . A happy face, A Thumpin Bass, For A Lovin' Race. PEACE.

over the weekend, I had this overwhelming feeling that I need to cut mine in the next couple of years. Like this era, time, journey is coming to an end.

actually last night/yesterday i had a really rough one (again!)
family woes, money worries, all that and my hair was a MESS! so my therapy for the day was to go through and appreciate each one on my locs, twist them up and make them all nice turns out, i ended up braiding them all together (6 to a braid) and they'll be all bouncy and crimpy by friday (they probably are already there by now but i want my hair to look extra special on friday - friday's a special day ) i really love my hair like this P.S.: i look like an absolute dumbass right now tho, with huge braids sticking out everywhere [Edited 3/5/08 10:07am] [...i think i can, i think i can, i think i can...]

My sister likes to threaten to cut hers whenever she gets bored w/ them, I'mma be mad @ both of y'all They're just so beautiful, I've never had the urge to cut mine OFF, but I have trimmed it a few times.
