I think the point is that everybody's disgusted at his behaviour. In my mind it's not a case where animals matter more than children but where we all feel sick that the vulnerable and voiceless (animals and children are being abused).

I for one am pleased that society is recognising that animals as well as humans should be given rights, and that these stories are being reported on these days.

The sad fact is that this story would not have been reported on if it were simply a case of two girls being molested - it happens too frequently and we've become desensitised to it unless it's attached to a story like this, which does disgust everyone.

This guy is a rapist, simple and plain. I don't think he will ever reach the point of rehabilitation. The act with the dog, as sad as it is, was just a precurser, a testing of the rape itself. I don't think he raped the two girls. It sounds as if it may have been inappropriate touching and/or self exposure but not assalt. This act was also a precurser to what he wants to do...to rape. Rape is not about sex it's about power and this kid, for whatever reason, is a rapist. He needs to be stopped and put away for life now before he claims another victim.

Actually, a victim is a victim. It's pointless to argue about who we should feel more sorry for. Stress and money worries can cause major illness in the same way that psychological damage can cause stress and illness to people.

You talk about generations, How about those people who had hundreds of thousands in their 401k and all got lost. People laid off, and company goes bellyup. This company had over 60,000 employees affected. People lost cars, houses, money, children suffered and all, dogs don't eat cause they couldn't afford dog food no more. California suffered with false rolling blackouts for wha they did. Now on this hand some clown, raped a dog and owners mad, look dogs get runned over in the street, same thing they are dead. The boy sick but he affected only the owners, no one else. The 2 girls , how u don't know it was not volunteered. Statutory means underage but she could have volunteered. Same for other one. The severity of a crime is not determined by how many people it effects, anyway. It is determined by the severity of the act. Embezzlement is only money. Rape or murder can take something away that you will NEVER EVER get back, and I don't care how many people lost money at the hands of the Enron bastards, their crime is not nearly as severe as this - and that is from a legal standpoint, as well as a moral one.
