I don't like that he was in it period. I would prefer Usher.

Does anyone know if the rehearsals for the One Night Only HBO 1995 speical were recorded?

Same.
I just think they chose Chris Brown because his more relevant. Chris Brown's commentary added no value to the documentary. They could have gotten anybody Usher, Ginuwine, Omarion etc.
I am definitly getting the DVD

the original doc got into that more, and michael was credited quite a bit, they had to chop it for this special

I didn't get that implication either. If anything they kinda contradicted Jeffrey lol when they went into the robot sequence in Soul Train, they show MJ doing it in '73 and then Jeffrey FOUR YEARS later lol

No it is not and you always have to be a smart ass for attention, hope your happy now that Im responding to your dumb bait
Besides the Bad and Smooth Criminal video Jeffrey discussed teaching Michael how to dance and urban moves even when BAD and Smooth Criminal were not discussed.
Maybe they did not intend that but the implication was Jeffrey Daniel was a source for majority of Michael dances moves and that is not true. [Edited 11/24/12 9:01am]

I admit, I was expecting, I don't know, more? Good to know a DVD will follow. The Bad video (short film) happens to be one of my favorite. I remember being extremely taken aback by Michael's appearance when it aired on television (the first time, ever), not necessarily in a bad way, he was just different from Thriller (I know that Thriller Mike was different, too) and way different from the Mike I fell in love with, but still Mike, nevertheless. Anyway, Bad is my absolute favorite--I love MJ's dancing in that. LOVE IT!
Ummm, I wasn't mad that Chris Brown was interviewed. I feel it's a good thing that his peers are interested in MJ and those that aren't might just get interested just because Chris respected him. I think Chris did well and showed his respect. He noted that no one could "touch" Michael, that is of course, the truth, at least to date. So, it was good to me.
I'm happy that they didn't harp on his death but not everyone in the world knows Michael Jackson (I know, hard to believe, right?) so I think it was necessary to let that special viewer who just happened to tune in know that the great Michael Jackson is no longer with us in physical form. All those people crying didn't surprise me at all. Watching it, it was hard to know that he isn't here. The material and his performances just didn't seem that dated to me.

Just watched the doc. Spike Lee did a fantastic job.
This documentary just brought back so many memories. Just a great era. Never again will this world see another artist as amazing and talented as MJ. This guy just slays everyone.

[Edited 11/24/12 9:01am] Jeffery co collaborated with Michael. It was discussed that during the bad video mj would follow the routine, step out of it to do his own thing and come back smoothly And I feel the memorial spoiled man in the mirror for me. It was great already before his death and has nothing to do with morbidity, I hate how this new generation knows it through that and feel old when I'm mot 30 [Edited 11/25/12 5:33am]

Yeah, like Whitney's funeral spoiled the hell out of "I Will Always Love You" for me. That is the song they carried her casket out to at the end. It was like her final bow.

Yeah that was sad too, kids younger than me were calling her queen of pop and asking if I knew I will always love you. Wanted to pat them on the head and felt obnoxious though I held back

I've just seen the documentary online and the US version is so edited. If you saw the bits on youtube, there was almost nothing new, but seeing those people cry made me weep, too. Still great documentary, though. It's just that the internet spoils stuff. Can't wait to see the dvd. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Michael Jackson: ABC Cut 30 Minutes from Spike Lee Doc, Including Sensual Dance with Sheryl CrowOk, so no one bothered to send the actual full version of Spike Lee’s “Bad 25″ documentary. The 90 minute version aired on ABC on Thanksgiving night. On Friday morning, the DVD of the complete movie arrived (thanks to the Critics Choice Awards). It clocks in at 123 minutes, at least 30 minutes longer than the ABC version.
And seeing it, I now understand what ABC did: they chopped this thing up and took out a lot of really great stuff. Among the missing items: all of the interviews with Stevie Wonder, including the legend at the piano and reminiscing about recording with Jackson; a very young Sheryl Crow in 1987 on tour with Michael, performing a sensual dance to “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You” and Sheryl’s racy recollection; attorney John Branca insisting that he and Michael did not steal the Beatles catalog out from under Paul McCartney; and many instances of Michael directing his videos or recordings. There’s also one interesting moment at 1:05 in which it’s clear that Michael is healing unselfish-consciously from facial surgery on his cheeks and nose.
Also missing from the ABC version but on the DVD is a fun stretch showcasing a bunch of celebrities who were filmed for Jackson’s “Liberian Girl” video.
Spike Lee also included one five second piece of video of Frank DiLeo right at the beginning of “Bad25,” but he never mentions him again as the guiding force behind “Bad” or the tour that followed. Too bad considering there are a number of people featured who didn’t even know Michael Jackson, including Justin Bieber (I have no idea what he’s doing or what he’s talking about) and someone named Joseph Vogel, who’s credited as author of a book that’s just come out and has sold has badly as the Randall Sullivan book. I would rather have seen Randy Taraborelli, who at least is an expert on this part of Michael’s life.
Also, plenty of people, like Quincy Jones, are only shown in footage from the “Bad” era and not now. The fact that DiLeo died in 2011 wouldn’t have precluded his being in the film. There’s a lot of archival interview footage.
Well, it’s too bad. Who cuts Stevie Wonder out of a documentary, anyway? ABC should have just shown “Bad25″ in its entirety. They cheated Michael’s fans and the audience at large.

^They cut even more than that--with commercials we only saw 1hr. 3min. worth of the program. I know because I recorded it without the commercials. So the American audience missed over an hours worth of footage! MJ L.O.V.E: https://www.facebook.com/...689&type=2 / YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/us...nderSilent

I could not agree with you more. I thought it was heavy handed. It was an emotional sucker punch. It does however add more weight to "Man in the Mirror", but I would have liked to just enjoy that period without remembering the far more recent tragedy.
And as I was watching the special I kept thinking "Geesh, can I get some more Bad 25 with my advertisement watching?" But frankly I would have been unsatisfied with even just one advertisement. Can't wait for the DVD. To All the Haters on the Internet

I'd rather see Joseph Vogel than Taraborelli. I just cannot see him as an expert. Speaking of Michael Jackson books, looks like Arnie Klein is working on a book:

And Raymone Bain already has one up on Amazon for pre-order!

There was another thing I noticed. Right after the section on Quincy Jones they show a lot of candids of Michael working at his home studio Havenhurst. The interesting thing is you can literally see that it is this period, during the making of Bad, that his skin completion changes...drastically. By the time Bad is released his wonderful chcolate completion is gone and his nose is also smaller. Also I see no evidence of Vitiligo, rather his skin looks burnt which would support what Quincy said about Michael changing his complexion through multiple chemical peels.
