Agreed. I'd be surprised if Prince actually remembered how many albums he released during the 90s or what year Parade was released, etc. From the books I've read about MJ I learned that ever since he was a kid often times he had to learn & record multiple songs A DAY when he was with Motown. And of course he spent his entire life meeting different people every single day constantly writing new songs or being on tour there's no way he can remember little details like which album Blues Away belongs to (and Thriller might as well have been released in 1983 anyway, I even saw some so-called music journalists saying Thriller was from '83 lol). And yes I also heard he was under the influence of lots of pain killers at the time and on top of that I believe this particular deposition took place on Nov.8, '93 and just a day before he'd performed at a stadium in Mexico. He must've been exhausted and stressed to death T_T

Oh, and you're the judge of that?? Artists usually are not that obsessed with their own work, once they are done creating it and it's released, like fans are. Usally after an album is released, the only exposure with their earlier works is performing them live and that's about it. An artist doesn't go home to listen to his own album for days and months and years like fans do.
So Michael said, Thriller was released in '83?? Wow, big whoop. It was released in December of '82 and he spent '83 promoting it, reaping the accolades and shooting videos for it.
His Bad era lasted from '86 until '89. So somewhere in that time the album dropped. And why should he keep tabs on how many albums he released? Overall his albums are in the 2 digits. Also do you count compilations as well? Those are things fans are interested in, but not really the artists.
So he said "Blues away" was from Going places or Destiny, some 17 years after he recorded that song, wow, how could he? It's not like the early Gamble/Huff Jackson albums were blockbuster albums... it was their usual 1 album per year, with little input of the brothers. It was only later on that they began being more in charge, so it makes sense that he thought that "Blues away", a song he wrote, was on one of the later albums. And it's not like his guess was decades away. He was off by a year. [Edited 12/18/12 11:02am]

You know, I feel for Michael on this one. I am also VERY bad with dates. If you asked me when I graduated from highschool, did this or that job, I would not know the exact years or dates. I can understand that. Or names. I am very bad at remember people and names. He also seems to have problems recalling people's names. When you watch the MTV interview, he has hard times remembering names of directors of some of his biggest hits (Billie Jean etc.) [Edited 12/18/12 10:42am] "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

^^Exactly. Some people have a knack and a interested for and in the little trivial things and could be their own best chronologist and others just don't give a shit and look forward and not back and don't care for when what was done...

Can't really blame MJ for not knowing the dates. As busy as he was, I'm surprised he even remembered anything...
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
dates? only dates? and what about the fact that he did not remember the names of his companies and did not know whether they exist in reality so far? he has a bad memory about his business, too? But what about the fact that only simple logic is enough to answer the question "whether it was after moving from Gary or before?" he moved from Gary, when he was a kid ... this is normal, do not remember these facts?

Who's arguing though? Besides, Michael lived the life he wanted to, can't change that.

I don't think it matters if MJ knew all of the dates and songs of each album, it isn't a big deal. I mean I know all of that stuff for most of the musicians I like. But for example, I make short films and I couldn't tell you when I made each of them, especially my first ones. I bet MJ probably knew more about other musicians he liked, because I doubt he listened to his own music all the time. Even if he did, I don't think trivial things like that matter much.
I'm not good with dates either. I only know my brother's and my own birthday, I don't know any of my best friends' birthdays nor my parents nor anyone else, and I only know my brother's cause we are both in August. I don't like thinking I'm self-centered for that, I'm just not good with dates!

What is it you're referring to that his huge fans apparently need to admit ? I'm still a bit confused so could you make it more clear what you think the problem is here? In your previous post (reply #262) you said you think it's either signs of memory loss (sounds all serious but me and others already mentioned he was under the influence of pain killers so it's possible that could've affected his sobriety a little, but at the same time he definitely doesn't look or sound too out of it. I know for a fact being physically exhausted or feeling pressured affects one's memory too) OR he was only pretending he couldn't remember those things for whatever reason - Which makes zero sense to me because when you think about it the lawsuit was about copyright infringement and plagiarism regarding songs he wrote and co-wrote..it was crucial for him to answer those questions as throughly and honestly as possible, so if anything not being able to remember certain things & dates correctly wouldn't have been helpful at all...I just don't see why he would give false answers saying he doesn't remember on purpose you know? Unless you're saying he pretended to be like that because he's just...weird like that. I mean if that's what you're trying to say I have nothing to say to you anymore so we can all just move on I guess lol And let me just add it's not like as a fan I don't know or refuse to think he can be quite weird when it comes to certain things. I just simply dont think that is the right excuse in this case, there's honestly nothing weird about him getting little things like album names mixed up and for the big things you obviously think he should remember you can blame pain killers & stress that's all I'm saying [Edited 12/19/12 2:00am]

On the other hand, what amazed me about that deposition was that he was able to remember EXACTLY the way the song came to his head. That's kinda fascinating. As far as the songwriting process, he was able to remember it in such details, it's unbelievable. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Madonna leads Billboard's top-grossing tours
While this year's pop charts have been dominated by young singers, it is veteran music stars, led by Madonna, who are commanding big money in tour ticket sales, according to a new Billboard list released on Tuesday.
Madonna, 54, topped Billboard's list of highest-grossing live tours, earning an estimated $228.4 million in ticket sales from her sold-out ninth worldwide tour in support of her 12th studio album"MDNA."
Madonna came ahead of pop star Lady Gaga, who landed at No. 6, with ticket sales of $124.9 million from her worldwide "Born This Way Ball" tour. Gaga, 26, is currently midway through her tour, which kicked off in South Korea in April, and will wrap in Oklahoma in March 2013.
Music publication Billboard compiled its list through estimated gross ticket sales figures from Billboard box scores, which tracks concert tours, ticket prices and sales.
The top five highest-grossing tour acts of 2012 included Bruce Springsteen, 63, and the E Street band at No. 2 with $199 million from 72 shows and Pink Floyd's Roger Waters, 69, at No. 3 with $186 million.
Cirque Du Soleil's homage to late singer Michael Jackson in "The Immortal World Tour" ranked No. 4 with $147.3 million over 183 shows, and British rock band Coldplay was fifth with $147.2 million over 67 shows.

ive been doing some research on the 1995 hbo special that never happened.. That would have been an amazing show. Apparently Childhood and Smile where in the setlist. I wonder if the rehearsals where recorded. does anybody know?

There's that famous pic of Michael with that mime (Marcel someone, I forgot his name) taken allegedly from footage of one particular rehearsal. This was a week before he went to the hospital. [Edited 12/19/12 19:09pm]

That just proves my point that sometimes creative people don't remember everything but you bring up something that's artistic and all of a sudden they can tell you what went with the song, what inspired it, what got him to do that vocal spot there...

Lisa was at her prettiest when she was with Michael. Even her look was classy after that she went straight to trash.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Actually, she looked quite good after that while still trying to get back to him. She did that Vogue cover where she looked great. She started to look bad once she released her first album. I like her style now for Storm and Grace. I think she has finally found herself. Yeah she looked happy and all girly when she was with him and after 1997,98 it's like... she didn't care to look pretty anymore. Oh and she always looks really agitated too. I'm sure she has many great qualities and they have a lot in common but ugh not a fan of them as a couple lol

I think they were great as a "married" couple, but not as a "divorced" couple. If you know what I mean. In the beginning they both looked happy and relaxed, when it was starting to go downhill, Lisa especially was not handling it well, at least publically. Michael may have been doing whatever, but unlike her he was doing it privately. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent.
