Well, she was missing live instruments and vocals, so I guess that counts her out.

I don't necessarily see it as a big deal, especially if someone's sung live before and people know that they are capable of doing it. Dancing and special effects can sometimes hamper that, so they lip-synch instead.

Hell, some folks need to lip-synch regardless.

The way I see it, if you can still put on good quality show without live vocals, then more power to ya. It certainly doesn't make you an inferior artist.

Honey, stop talking and just create the music.

Yeah. Fergie's vocals sound like fingernails on a chalkboard on a record. Shoulda known it would be torture to listen to her live.

Usher's part was kinda cool, though.

Prince played it safe by doing covers and more recognizeable songs from his own catalog. This strategy works best for a general audience. Some of you are applauding Madonna for taking a risk and "performing" her new song. I don't know her new music and as a result, I didn't know that was her new song. So others like me, were just spectators watching and not being able to get into the performance because we were unfamiliar with the song. EPIC FAIL!

Her latest video and this performance lack the sharpness and polish she is known for. Very by the numbers. Exiting going down a box with a puff of smoke and uttering the last word of the song from last inside of it. lol

The camera pan's out to a birds eye view and apropos of nothing "world Peace" is written in front of the stage.

She can do much better than this.

I like Madonna's performance, but you know what? I also liked the Black Eyed Peas performance too boxed lol It's just a 12-minute performance....I don't go that crazy over these types of events anyway. For the most part, the artists do the same stuff that they do at their concerts. So if you're not really a fan of the artist in the first place, you most likely won't enjoy their Super Bowl performance.

A few artists ever decided to break that rule on mainly ST and AB. Solid Gold was mostly lip synced anyways but Soul Train and American Bandstand did allow some bands to play live especially in the earlier years.

Definitely a smart move on her part, even if many of us think the new song is okay/mediocre/weak, the Superbowl stage is still one of if not the best venue to showcase a new project.

- Well, I dont see any sense to pay to see a concert where the artist isnt singing or playing. If I wanted to see dancing, I would go to a dance show. Ok, Superbowl is different and even a great artist like Michael Jackson did lip synching. But I wouldnt pay for a full concert in lip synch and I would feel cheated if it happened.

One thing that might have made for a brilliant half time show is if they could somehow incorporate the Kitten Half-Time show from the Puppy Bowl.

You should keep your ass home, then.

Pop acts lip sync - that's the nature of the game.

You don't go to a Madonna show to hear great musicianship, great live singing, great

songwriting and great choreography. You go for the spectacle.

Madonna was 'Beast' Half time.

APART FROM: The Lip Synching; she should have really sung live. An artist on her statue, HAS no business not singing live, it makes the whole experience less interesting and more programmed. She never said anything about throat problems, or whatever, so what made her lip synch pretty much the entire performance? Lol...I

I thought she would take OFF a little more than she did. Her intro was great! The choreography was Pitched perfect and she was in motion! The collaborations with 'LMAO/Nicki Minaj/MIA/Cee-LO' was a bit too much for my taste. Cee-Lo would have been better with Madonna everyone else was not as great WITH her. I like how in 'Like A Prayer' Cee-Lo as androgynous and flamboyant as this man is, shared a unique chemistry with her and the choir. I was in Madonna church for a second..lol

Her dancers were almost over shadowing her though, which turned off the mode for me a bit.

Yet she did justice to her name. I think the new song debut was cool, it has a catchy beat BUT it reminds me of the movie 'Bring it on' back in 2003? It sounds kind of dated, but it fits Madonna right now. She seemed really happy and energetic, and HEY...She even has 'World Peace' at the end..which was very cool! It was a loud cry, it could have been louder if the background and everyone else wasn't so UP FRONT.

Her intro was awesome, but this was not really Breathe taking!!! It could have been, but it really did not live up to my expectations, by a long shot! Good for what it was and much better than last year! smile

O well! Prince still wins in my book! Not because he's Prince or because I'm a huge fan, but because his performance just stands really tall! smile

Nevertheless L U V Madonna! Haha

It's Button Therapy, Baby!

I was referring to the Superbowl performances.

Either way, some people could care less about lip-synching, whether it be the Superbowl or any other concert. It's all a matter of personal preference.
