I'm surprised they haven't asked for her in previous years.

Can't stand her music, but she can put on a show.

Honey, stop talking and just create the music.

I'm surprised no one noticed Madonna almost slipped & fell on the first song. She played it off good though. So for that mistake alone gets her a D+. The stage & graphics were good. But she can't dance no rhythm at all.

Prince still wins for not having to lip sync.No one can top Prince on musicianship & not lip syncing at all he owned that stage, he didn't need a bunch of graphics and special guest either. He did not slip and almost trip either in all that rain.

Sorry people...

PRINCE WILL ALWAYS BE THE NUMBER 1 HALFTIME SHOW IN HISTORY.

P.S I did like "Like a Prayer"(Because of Cee-lo who saved the lip syncing)was well done & her final exit....

I can't believe Sheila betrayed Prince saying that. What the hell happen with U 2?

Yeah, Sheila got the side eye from me on that one too. I wonder if she just had a lapse and forgot Prince did the Super Bowl.

The weirdest thing about this performance was Madonna being nervous- I've never seen Madonna look so nervous in any of her stage performances, given that she's been so confident in every performance I've seen previously of hers.

Not even Janet showed that nervousness. She got excited from that flash mishap though. And Prince possibly was nervous in the beginning but he aced it out in the end. But Madonna... wow...

Well to be honest Madonna's never been a brilliant performer/dancer to me in the same vain as Janet or Britney. That's not her gift either.

Her ace card is imagery and media manipulation.

Hmm interesting. I do agree with you as far as the ace card being imagery and media manipulation, she's a master at that. But I've always considered her a fierce entertainer, even more fierce than Janet. shrug

Her Unsung show will show whether or not Sheila definitely can't stand Prince right now. I don't trust her words...yet. Her wording on Twitter about the situation was cryptic. Guess we'll find out if she'll reveal anything of what went down.

They have GOT to book a real band next year (and all succeeding years). Non-performing singers like Madonna and The Black Eyed Peas just don't present well on such a big stage, IMHO.

We need real musicians up there. The Who was horrible but they were better visually than either Madonna or the BEP, IMHO.

Its a sad day in America when the halftime show thread gets more replies than the thread about the game, lol Anyhoo, it was kind of all over the place although I did like the last two songs and I thought Ceelo was great.

The halftime show is more about mass appeal than it is about football fans anyway.

Madonna's Super Bowl Halftime Show: What Hollywood Is Saying
"Two quarters of Super Bowl and the strongest performer is Madonna," said Alec Baldwin of the show.

Madonna took to the stage for her highly anticipated halftime show during Super bowl XLVI. Beside her were Roman soldiers, the duo of LMFAO and Nicki Minaj.
our editor recommends

The performance featured a stunning electronic stage and plenty or pyrotechinics. Her performance featured some oldies-but-goodies such as “Vogue,” and also her latest single "Give Me All Your Luvin'.” What did the entertainment industry think of her performance? Overall, reactions have been positive.

Project Runway judge Nina Garcia wrote on Twitter: “Madonna rocked it !! Loved her and the outfit was HOT. LOVED. My girl Nicki Minaj adorable.”

30 Rock star Alec Baldwin also heaped on the praise, writing, “Two quarters of SuperBowl and the strongest performer is Madonna...”

“You gotta hand it to Madonna. No apologies,” he added.

Paula Abdul wrote, "so happy for #Madonna 's triumphant #HalfTime show! <img src=" /> @NICKIMINAJ & M.I.A. crushed it! @CeeLoGreen & @LMFAO added so much fun!"

Steve Martin wrote, “Congrats to Madonna for great spot, especially considering game has resumed during last three minutes.”

Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria wrote, “Madonna is amazing!!! Love her always! What a performer! All my fav songs!”

Rosie O'Donnell kept it simple, writing: “Madonna = perfection”

Rapper Snoop Dogg added: "Madonna killen the superbowl her show is soo fresh. Wowoowowowowowoowowowowowow!"

However, there seemed to be a disagreement between Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan. Osbourne wrote, "Madonna is back! She's the queen. Just sensational!"

The performance featured plenty of dancing and stunts by Madonna, despite her very high heels. Rainn Wilson wrote, “I wonder how much Madonna can bench?”

Seth MacFarlane commented on LMFAO’s contribution to the performance, writing, “The way they rhymed "Madonna" with "you wanna" was terrific. Just tremendous. And a bunch of times! Which was also great. Music is great.”

Ryan Seacrest also praised the halftime show, writing, “Loved the madonna performance, i think she nailed it. Great job by @LMFAO, @NickiMinaj, @CeeloGreen too.”

As a Madonna "hater", I will say the show was kind of boring and mediocre, but not terrible. She looked good, KEPT HER CLOTHES ON, the visuals were OK and that's it. We knew there would be gimmicks. We knew she probably wouldn't sing live. That way, no one can criticize her for botched notes...

Cee-Lo sounded the best but that's no surprise lol

MIA likes controversy as well, and it's not like she would ever get the chance to perform at the superbowl again, so why not put her name in the headlines? lol Funny thing is, when I watched the performance, I didn't notice her flipping the bird-I only heard that she said "shit".

I don't understand why the media and celebs are hyping the halftime show up though. I wasn't even close to being blown away and most football fans don't give a shit about Madonna lol shrug
