Well, on the advice of moderator luv4u, I am reposting here my initially misplaced post about my puzzlement over Ticketmaster's pricing system for Janet's concert in NY - please see here below.
And I should add that I am now $274 poorer than this morning:)..., but soon to be richer with the experience of her show [+ seeing her closer, better, and everything that comes with that ticket].
And thank you to TotalAlisa and alphastreet for the encouragement!
Janet Jackson's concert in NY - Ticket prices
As I'm trying today to buy a ticket to Janet Jackson's March 21 concert in NY, I just realized that Ticketmaster is releasing the top-priced tickets only [$274 all incl]. Any other searches, in any other parts of the theater results in 'not found'. The site does say that tickets might become available nearer to the date of the show - but still...
Am I underestimating Janet Jackson in thinking that even in these economic hard times she could not achieve sold-out shows? Or am I being naive in thinking that Ticketmaster has changed its dubious ways since earlier pricing debacles?...
The thing is, despite the warning note of later availability, I still find it strange that one full week before the show not a single seat outside of the most expensive ones is available in the entire theater.
While there is no limit to what I would shell out for my darling P, I was hoping to go for the mid-range tickets for this one. I'm a JJ fan, but not a mad one:)
Thoughts?... Anyone with better luck than me in buying a ticket for this show?....

^^^ That's what I'm saying! Why isn't THIS the standard of voluptuous beauty these days, instead of the starved boney look for young women considered today??!! Janet can make a straight girl desire to be a lesbian--that's how hot she is! Janet should be the new poster girl for what healthy and sexy should look like! I just checked for tickets in my city, where she is appearing twice, and the only tickets left are the VIP tickets or "nosebleed" seats where they actually warn on ticketmaster that "the view may be obstructed." At this late date, you can only hope that VIP prices go down or pay the scalper prices on line. I was able to get great central seats for second tier prices--but that was on the first day of sales. I wanna echo this--have fun, even if it seems expensive! Hope you get the best experience possible. I just looked at some recent videos and Janet seems in great shape, singing and dancing more... I am so looking forward to these concert appearances! Let us know how it goes for you! Janet looks completely full of estrogen which adds to fat to the body especially as a woman or a man ages...(is the truth of it).

Janet Jackson gets intimate with fans on new tour
Janet Jackson has limited experience with downtime. Shes juggled acting and music careers, served as both a sex symbol and social reform advocate, and weathered highly publicized storms, in-cluding the infamous Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction in 2004 and the death of her older brother, global music icon Michael Jackson, in 2009. Though the 44-year-old superstar declined to discuss her brothers passing, she chatted with us by e-mail about her new tour, which stops at the Citi Wang Theatre tonight.
Herald: Your Number Ones Up Close and Personal Tour focuses exclusively on No. 1 hits in smaller, more intimate venues. What inspired you to do a tour of this nature, as opposed to an over-the-top, special-effects-filled arena show?
Jackson: WOW, Ive never looked at any of my shows as being over the top, but maybe they were LOL. I was in Europe last year and there were several fans camping outside my hotel. Every time I would talk with them, they would ask me when I would be performing in their city. That gave me the idea to ask the fans to help me pick the cities that I was going to perform in. Then when I got back to the states, I had a private date at Radio City Music Hall in New York. It was so much fun to see everyone. The energy was amazing and all I found myself thinking was this is what I want to do on my next tour. It has been a long road, but I am really happy with my life. I get so much energy when I perform for my fans and I love to give back to them. That is what Number Ones Up Close and Personal is all about. Its a thank you for all the support my fans have given me all these years.
Youre recognizing 20 people under age 20 in each city who are helping to transform their communities. Activism and social consciousness are things youve publicly championed since Rhythm Nation. Why is this important to you?
All you have to do is look at the news. It doesnt matter which format TV, print, Internet. Just about all you see are negative images. I wanted to recognize kids that are making a difference in their cities.
Your new book, True You: A Journey to Finding and Loving Yourself, details your struggles with weight, self-image and self-esteem, things many young people struggle with. What advice would you give to someone battling these issues?
I wrote True Youbecause there was, to my knowledge, no book of its kind when I was growing up. If there had been, I would have read it immediately. I want anyone who reads it, especially the kids, to know that they are perfect just as they are and that they are not alone. If they see someone like me, and understand that I had the same problems that they are going through now, perhaps they will feel a little better and love themselves for who they are.
You recently starred in Tyler Perrys For Colored Girls. How does acting compare to being a recording artist?
Acting has always been my first love. It is what I always imagined my career being. That or a horse jockey LOL. It is nice to get back to it. The two are completely different, though.
Youre in the midst of a major tour and you have a new book out. When things wind down (do things ever wind down?) whats next for you?
I like to keep busy. I plan to record a new CD later this year. Im not sure what it will be yet. I am going to wait until I am in the studio and see what is going on in my life and be inspired by that.
Janet Jackson, with Mindless Behavior, at the Citi Wang Thea-tre, tonight. Tickets: $55-$150; 617-931-2000.

purplethunder3121, alphastreet:
Then I withdraw my distrustful words towards Ticketmaster: this is my very first Janet Jackson concert, I've only seen her in videos and such, so a live concert still feels a little surreal for me, I can't imagine how many fans/people she could attract, and obviously I was underestimating how big she was in terms of ticket sales!
So I can't wait for the magic to start next Monday, and no regret about the price! Stay tuned for some NY concert news/reviews!

Janet Jackson Signs Film Production Deal with Lionsgate (Exclusive)Chris Jackson/Getty Images
The performer-actress inks a deal to select, develop and produce a feature film for the independent studio.Janet Jackson is becoming a movie producer. The performer-actress has signed a production deal with Lionsgate to select, develop and produce a feature film for the independent studio. Jackson has a thriving music career—she’s currently on world tour—but this is her first foray into film producing. She says movies have always been her first love.
“Many people forget I started out as an actor,” she tells THR. “I have been fortunate to work in the film industry, though not as much as I would like. I have a passion for storytelling, and have been doing it through my music for some time.”
A deal with Lionsgate was a natural fit. Jackson has starred in three Tyler Perry films--Why Did I Get Married, Why Did I Get Married Too and For Colored Girls. She also starred in John Singleton’s 1993 drama Poetic Justice.
Mike Paseornek, Lionsgate president of motion picture production and development, says the studio recognized Jackson’s instinct for great stories.
“She is a powerful on-screen presence, with a vast audience, and we believe she will be an equally powerful presence behind the scenes,” Paseornek says. “We are honored to be able to provide a home for her ideas, passion and immense talent.”
In terms of the film projects she might pursue, Jackson says she is drawn to diverse material. She says she is particularly captivated by film noir.
The deal with Lionsgate was negotiated by Paseornek, executive vp business & legal affairs Robert Melnik and director of business & legal affairs Neil Ollivierra on behalf of the studio. Negotiating on behalf of Jackson and her jdj Entertainment were attorneys Tom Hoberman and Don Steele of the Hansen Jacobson firm.
Earlier this month, Jackson’s memoir True You: A Journey to Finding and Loving Yourself debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list.
Presently, Jackson is on her Number Ones: Up Close and Personal world tour. The performer and actress has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, and ranks as one of the bestselling artists in the history of contemporary music.
Jackson is repped by WME, JdJ Entertainment, the Sterling Winters Co., Hansen Jacobson and Hertz & Lichtenstein.
Congrats Janet on your new deal and becoming a mini mogul........ will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

I saw janet last night, she was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! the show started around 8:30 and ended about 10:15, she did the full playlist. I loved see her perform all nite, diamonds, the best things in life are free and a bit of throb. The place was bumping the entire show, she sounded live most of the time, and she really gave 110% today, judging by the clips i've seen i think today was her best show so far. 2 older women next to me were big fans and they were telling me about how they saw her on the velvet rope tour, people(including janet) got emotional when the pics of her and michael came on during together again but it was a celebratory night. She looked happy and i was just soaking it all in. I took some pics but there will be better pics the media took posted eventually. "we make our heroes in America only to destroy them"

Wow this is great news for her, I can't wait to see what she does with films more. I feel like what we see is just minimal and there may be more to it.
Glad you enjoyed the show mimi

Who's attending the show on Friday? I cannot wait! A GF of mine went to the Chicago show and had a blast so I'm looking forward to it. She said Janet started with Pleasure Principle so as long as she's not cutting THAT from the playlist I'm all good! Fav JJ song EVER!
These pics are hot hot hot! I actually have always prefered Janet this way, thicky thick. I could always tell when she was super skinny she really wasn't happy and was probably not maintaining that weight in a healthy way. Some folks just aren't meant to be rail thin and she's one of them. I think she looks fantastic.
Im halfway through the book but it's a hard thing to carry with me on the train because it's hardcover. I guess it's time to just get a damn Nook.

Great news about producing films! Just keep TP away from the camera and she'll be alright. As a matter of fact, I think she shouldn't work with him at all in the future. 3 movies were enough. Time to move on Baby. I hope she hooks up with the right people and do well.
