you can't call shit out.. because i was hte main one supporting the 20 y.o. album and the Feedback album..

I HAVE PROOF TO BACK IT UP.. that I was not bashing janet all the way up to MJ death.. you just have a bad memory and you don't know what you are talking about...

I have the right to call you a phony cause i been seeing all the crap you been saying about janet recently...

so go ahead and make false claims.. but i can go back and post links of my posts supporting janet before MJ's death...

i was basically one of the few fans who actually loved 20 Y.O. i was always supporting janet..

SO STFU...

and stop talking about her lipping.. and if you have a problem don't go to her shows...

well you have a point there. Seeing Janet at Radio City was my first and will be my last show. I just have my preference and I don't want to pay to hear a cd playing in the back. To me live should be live. I'm glad I got to see her, I can check it off my list and cherish the memory and move on. but you do have to understand it does take away from the show somewhat to some people.

for me as long as janet is dancing right.. i don't care if its lipped.. or backtrack... some of her best performances on award shows she was singing to the backtrack...

You will definitely enjoy yourself! And even moreso even if she does lip, hopefully the track will be turned down so you can hear her:) I could also add I don't know how good the sound was at the Borgata to compare it to say the RAdio City....She is a great performer and I am GLAD I went still...

LOL..huh..What I was trying to say was since I never went to another show of hers to compare it, I had heard VR was a tour she sang alot live on noreso than normal. I don't own the DVD so I went to you tube and looks like someone downloaded it in pieces--assuming VR1 through 27 or 28..assuming that amount of songs. I listened to parts of it and compared it to what I saw Fri night../Def more live singing for VR...

Unless..and this is a big unless....Maybe she IS singing but to be honest it is so low/quiet and she has the prerecords on there...it is basically lip synching..There were for sure lip synching parts overall..

Still..as I said I am glad I went I just know when a performer can do more..it would be nice...

Maybe she was saving herself up for last nights show..DID anyone go?? Would love to hear..

kenny88 said:

Huh? lol

The tour Janet sang live was the Rhythm Nation tour and most of the janet tour. After that she started heavily depending on pre-recorded tracks. As I've already stated, the Velvet Rope tour was mostly lipped. Keep in mind that Janet has been doing this for decades and she's a performer with a light voice so she needs the backing tracks to conceal her real voice.

Who are you? and where did I say it bothered me? Quit with the pity assumptions. I'm just correcting the deluded buffons in here that think Janet Jackson is singing live.

lol@who are you? im a font on a message board just like you. also the word deluded/delusional,ect,ect has become the most overused word by so-called janet fans who feel they have to prove they are not 'delusional' stans, so they find whatever they can to go in on her about.my question is when has janet not been accused of lippin? it seems like since she is getting all these good reviews and the critics are saying she's singing live you seem kinda mad about that.

No problem..I just never knew she relied that heavily.....esp on a up close and personal tour...smile

What's up with people in this thread getting emotional over others opinions? confused I don't see the big deal if someone states that Janet's lipping since she's known for doing it. Anyway, the topic is tired much like most of the gibberish in here.

Again...sigh why do you need it and why should I post it? When I have looked at your clips and many others and disagree with you? Why is it so important to you to prove that Janet is lipsyching every song at every concert?!! I don't think that she needs defending... I disagree with you and, for me, that is where the debate ends. lol

Do you not understand how a debate works? If you're going to claim something at least know how to back it up. Many others? Just you and Sean (who's known for being stuck far up Janet's ass).

Again, post proof that Janet is singing live and point out where she sounds different.

Come again? I was away for a weekend and this shit already? You can seriously take it elsewhere, homegirl. Stuck up Janet's ass? No. A longtime fan who attended the show and enjoyed the hell out of it. Yes. Your comments concerning me aren't necessary.

Moving on...

Latest news is that there may be a second leg for the US. Gil (aka Big Mouth lol ) recently tweeted something mentioning additional US and Canadian dates, and a reporter at the Chicago Examiner said that Janet's promoters are looking to add future Chicago dates.

Geez! This lipping discussion is boring! Of course, live usually is better, but when it's not really that noticeable/distinguishable I don't really give a shit! The show was great, even though awefully short and her business of cutting songs needs to stop, but still, looking forward to the european shows.

So basically we are not allowed to say anything less than positive when it comes to Janet here? I enjoyed the concert but the lip synching was a problem to me and the band not playing to their full potential was too. That is just my preference. The ability to sing live is a talent, for which janet does not have, so I personally will not pay to see another Janet concert. I've seen enough one time. Now for those who don't care about that stuff, i say rock on and have a great time which you will! cool

^^No, of course you are... it's just that this arguing (and insulting) back and forth is annoying and well, boring! You all said your piece and now move on.

To say that Janet has no talent to sing live is a bit of a stretch! The times she sings live she sounds fine! She is just facing the problem most singer/dancers face... when she doesn't dance but sing live throughout people complain, that they wanted to see her dance, when she dances but doesn't sing live throughout then people complain, that they wanted to hear her sing! And when she does both and huffes and puffes through songs, some might complain as well. So damned if you do and damned if you don't!

But when the lipping is not that obvious, so that there are still people who are convinced that she sang live throughout, then I'd say she did a great job.

No its not a stretch to me and its should be no surprise that alot of people do not consider janet to have a great live singing voice. This discussion is nothing new. And I would agree with you if she didn't start lipping the ballads when she's sitting down, and the slower tempo songs like that's the Way Love Goes. lol Like I said, if it doesn't matter to you or anyone else then cool.

Patrick that is not totally true. I went in with the expectation she would sing most of her songs. I realize she nor most people can dance like she does and sing well at the same so lipping would probably occur (or singing lightly where you cannot hear it and tracks are relied upon) for SOME of the time... not MOST.

I walked away thinking she danced more than she sang live..I personally expected it the opposite way....

And to me the lipping was very obivoius.....

This whole thing made me actually dig up concerts and reference points from Kenny...I just wanted to see for myself if she actually sounds good live..and she does...I would have liked a bit more of that-ESPECIALLY being up close and personal...Was the whole point of her show to have smaller venues/less people or a scaled down show to see her talent up close?? If the point was to showcases her dancing she might has well have done an elaborate stageset with costumes.....

You are right though..WHEN she sings she sounds very pretty....Maybe it was just my show (Friday nite) she did not sing most of it...I should ask the people who I sold my Sat tix to about their show Sat...maybe it was different...

Anyway...it is just personal opinions...I guess some just like more of a musician/singer while others prefer a performer....

Well, yes it is a stretch! Just because someone is not doing something very often doesn't mean, that they are not good at it and can't do it. Of course it's no surprise that people might think that she can't do it.

So what exactly is not true? I said there are several kinds of people and you obviously are the one who cares more for live singing than dancing and is upset if there is not enough of that. Which is totally fine.

And to me the lipping was very obivoius.....

Well, to me it's not that obvious. It was obvious (and annoying) with Michael, because you could clearly tell, when he was not singing live. With Janet to me it's not that obvious and when I have to second guess I don't give a shit really.

Was the whole point of her show to have smaller venues/less people or a scaled down show to see her talent up close?? If the point was to showcases her dancing she might has well have done an elaborate stageset with costumes.....

The point was to have smaller venues with a cheaper show as she can't fill big arenas anymore. Other than that nothing has changed.

Maybe it was just my show (Friday nite) she did not sing most of it...I should ask the people who I sold my Sat tix to about their show Sat...maybe it was different...

Hmm no... I also was at that Borgata Show and it wasn't different than the shows before... ah well, maybe I'm biased as I was in front row basically.

Anyway...it is just personal opinions...I guess some just like more of a musician/singer while others prefer a performer....

Hmm, she's a pop artist, so I accept more than I would in any other genre.

It does TO ME, especially when it comes to singing. We will just have to agree to disagree and no one is upset. We just came away with our own opinions about the show we saw. Still enjoyed dancing the night away.

Well, ok I guess you are right then. Britney Spears could be considered a pop aritist...and there she was lipping away just today on GMA. I guess we can lump them together..

Out of curiousity...what genre do you consider Prince.? I am not arguing just asking...

Ok at least we agree on that:)...

I will see her again someday...but normally when I buy tix I buy 1 or 2 sets....This time I was not overly disappointed to be getting rid of my Sat tix...although I have now heard the SAT show was indeed better....Still lipping..lol...

Seriously though why for years did other 'artists' like boy bands, britney, etc get trashed for lipping yet Janet made it out of that. I never really heard that complaint about her before me... Maybe I never looked..
