Whatever happened to the days where people weren't so cynical about whether or not an artist lip-synchs? Maybe it's just this new generation?
This is the post-Milli Vanilli generation.
To be frank, Janet always re-records songs she's gonna sing live in every year she hosts her concerts. So what? Least she ain't singing to no 1986 back tracks.
Gotta admit though, the illusion is great. She's had 20+ years practicing the lip synching so she has it down to a science to the point you can't tell.
Well i think there is NO EXCUSE for lip syncing all of her show - especially the ballads section. As a fan it is really embarassing if she does do that.
as a fan its not... i don't expect janet to dance and sing.... its one or the other... even MJ was quilty of lip syncing and he used the back tracks... he didn't even pre-record it....
anyways... its not that serious... i rather see her dance well and sing to a pre-recorded track then barely move and sing live....

Some of it was lip-synched, not all. It totally didn't detract from the magic of the show.
why cant people just let janet be great? her show is getting nothing but rave reviews, every critic has said she sings most of the show live, if she's not then she is obviously doing a damn good job lip syncing, why would her own fans try so hard to find something negative to complain about?i was at the ny show friday and she was great, everybody had a great time and there were no complaints where i was.
Gotta go with Sean and other people that have been "up close and personal" during these performances. Sometimes Janet is lipsynching and at other times--especially for the ballads--she is singing live to a backing track. Either way, I am really looking forward to seeing her twice in April.

No, she doesn't sound different If you listen to clips from different shows they all sound the same and that includes the ad-libs. Also when she does speak live you can hear the distinction between her live voice and pre-recorded vocals. Totally different. Most of the fans claiming it's live are just saying that because they want it to be. But in reality it's not. She's just that good at lipping.

Well, some of us think you are deluded for thinking that she is singing EVERY song with lip-synching! I think she does some lip-synching and sings live for the ballads. But in the end, no one's opinion matters. I will find out for myself in April. I still think that, unless you were there in person, you don't really have any standing in commenting on it....

Did you even bother watching clips of her other shows? I mean, you do consider yourself a fan, correct? If you have ears and sense you'd understand that her vocals sound the same for every song. I've yet to see a performance where she sounds completely different from the previous. They're all the same. This also can be noted in other tours. And yes, her ballads are lipped. Then again you probably didn't bother to watch the side by side youtube doubler I posted in the other thread of her vocals sounding exactly the same as another one.

I agree. If she wants to have a real tour then she should probably put effort into giving a live performance, not a fake one. But she'll be stuck doing theaters if she continues giving half-assed shows like she is now.

From what I have seen, including your clips, which I already saw, I am still stating that she is singing live for certain songs and lipsynching on other ones. But, in saying this, I feel that I am stating something that you will never agree with. And, I will not agree with you, because my perception is different from your own. So, why don't we just agree to disagree at this point and move on with the discussion on the thread? Even if someone thinks that Janet is lipsynching for the entire concert, everyone is enjoying the experience. I think that she is not lipsynching the entire time; you do. So what? Let us move on...
