Ok, you clearly misunderstood my post. I'm specifically referring to posters and the content of their remarks regarding a specific thread that Bboy is referring to. I was NOT speaking in general terms, which is what you seem to be responding to. If you read the thread that I was talking about, you'd understand my post clearly. Here: http://prince.org/msg/7/346753 Until then, let me clear up some things..
I do NOT see Michael as some lord and savior. I don't believe in that crap. I do NOT engage in discussions where we dissect the motives of Katherine, Joe and the other Jacksons in relation to Michael because I'm more concerned and interested in the artist. Most of the information I post/respond to has to do with the man/artist himself and not the gossip, sensation, etc. I rarely engage in Prince vs Michael debates, and the only time I do is to refocus the discussion away from irrelevant, media-hyped discussions. So if you want to thank those who keep this thread about the music, news of the artist and the man Michael Jackson.... YOU'RE WELCOME.

but you do know I wasn't talking about any MJ v Prince thing, right?
I was simply saying reading some of the remarks makes me hope one day people who realize what really went down in those cases "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

When is this debate going to stop. Prince and Michael were completely different artist, different genre, different styles, why are some of you obssessed with comparing them. Obviously at the end of the day its going to come down to opinions based on who you perfer more. Duh! stop with the BS. Frankly, I dont care much for Prince but that doesnt mean he isnt an amazing artist and it doesnt mean i see Michael, who i perfer more as some godlike figure, my lord and savior. Like i said stop with the bs. Not everyone going to fall head over heels for prince, and not everyone's gonna like Michael. So stop with these rediculous debates and arguments. @wetdream . the whole fear prince comment, lol! funny thats how i feel everytime i go into a thread with you prince fans and your all going after him like a pack of wolves. Its a never ending drama. I dont say you have to like him, but repect. and theirs hardly any of that shown. I dont come on here and talk ish about prince. I respect the guy, i really do. And bboy, i completely agree with you about the nonsense that goes on in mj threads. Complete disrespectful. you have to think, there is something wrong when the thread made is about a prince logo on an mj album, and all of a sudden the discussions becomes prince vs. michael. How Michael, who's dead by the way and didnt have any input in choosing the artwork, is obssessed with prince, and his legal trials, The pysch of a peadophile ,pedofilia and whether you think he's guilty or not. Its life you can always expect these things to enter a discussion about mj. Wetdream you've made your stance clear. prince is the greatest artist that ever lived, Michael's music is beneath you, same old same old blah blah and so on. Thats your opinionm good for you but dont expect evryone to share it. You have an overall condescending tone. Like someone said, michael was michael, you want him to be more like prince. Enjoy him for the artist he was not the artist you want him to be. Its not hero- worship to like michael over prince and vice-versa. Again it all comes down to taste and preference. Whats obvious to you isnt always obvious to someone else.[Edited 11/7/10 10:16am] [Edited 11/7/10 10:27am]

i don't think it's stupid at all, they were contemporaries and heirs to the same influences and musically had many similarities. You ad on to that the fact that they were both on the cutting edge and either commercially or artistically not just the best of the black but the best of all artists. And moreover, I believe they both admired each other and were influenced by each other it became an inside joke between them and us through the years. I believe they used each other to up the ante and were rivals with a love/hate relationship. I think it's a good and valid comparison, like comparing the Beatles to the Stones or Chuck Berry to Elvis etc.., That said, it's not worth getting all vicous about, we should take it like they did, with a degree of fun.

Heartbreaking. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Yeah, that might be true, but their music is still pretty different from each other and they went in two separate paths later. I mean...they weren't the only r&b musicians that existed at that time either. I think that, for a lot of people they were the most popular two. Kinda like how people keep talking about The Beatles and the Rolling Stones even though there were other pretty influential artists out there as well, such as the Kinks, and etc.

Music was similar enough though, and had the same mix of influences. In that era, there was what, New Wave, long hair rock, Bruce in his pop if not art prime, but I can't think of a lot that has endured from the era outside of these two giants. then again, I was never a fan even as a teen of the music out at the time. You're right though Prince and Mike weren't on an island of their own, the black music and the van halens did have impact on both in one way or another but they were both at the forefront of it all. Anyway, since some of you get tired of it, I don't want to beat a dead horse.

When reading this I get hints of Little Susie. Obviously it feels like he evolved this song into Little Susie - maybe because recording it as Michael McKellar might have been too easy a target at HiStory time. "I'm not human I'm a dove, I'm ur conscience. I am love"

Yeah, yeah, i know. But, that's enough of that. It wasn't aimed at you. Just keep that news coming and i'll hope for MJ to to prove me wrong about my perceptions on his music. I really hope some non-pop stuff exists ala that classical album. This Post is produced, arranged, composed and performed by WetDream

I hope the Estate commissioned it. Michael had done some demos for it but hadn't fully started it, but there is stuff from earlier sessions as far back as 1979 that he had in the vaults. He did some songs called "Iowa", "Kentucky", and others the same time he wrote Little Susie, When Babies Smile, Be Not Always, and Lovely One "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

just posted on twitter by taryll jackson
On Monday 8th November 2010, @Taryll said: I am shocked that things have gotten this far. This is ridiculous. I was at the studio when these questionable files were delivered. I heard these "so-called" Michael Jackson songs raw and without the distraction of the well produced music by Teddy Riley. How they constructed these songs is very sneaky and sly. many people who have worked on this project either have strong doubts and questions while others KNOW the truth yet decided to turn and look the other way with their hands out for $$. I will NEVER look the other way. Right is Right, Truth is Truth, Facts are Facts and it will all come out!!! I tried so hard to prevent this craziness, but they wouldn't listen. I KNOW my Uncle's voice and something's seriously wrong when you have immediate FAMILY saying it's not him. Don't you have to wonder why? I have strong, undeniable points. They can't give me answers, yet continue to move forward with lies and deception. Sounding like Michael Jackson and BEING Michael Jackson are two different things. "If you know it's a lie then you will swear it, If you give it with guilt then you will bear it, If it's taking a chance then you will dare it... you would do anything for money" Yeah it's like "oh you mocked me for liking him but now he's dead it's cool to play him again?" And then they look at you funny when you don't play him. -Timmy on after 6-25 fans

Maybe for some people but I will always see them as two complimentary halves, dopplegangers, perfect for each other. Michael made Purple Rain, Born in The USA and the entire music industry more successful than they would have been without him, if that is a fact (and I think it is) then there is nothing wrong with pointing it out. I am just truly thankful that I was a young fledling musician at that time, I think others should feel that way.

No offence but how did he get to listen to the songs from the album? -.-
I'm sure Sony is protecting the songs from being leaked. I very much doubt that the Jackson family other than the head os estate had access to the studio while Mike's songs are being mixed or remastered. (sigh)
And I trust Teddy. I think he knows Mike's voice. ~Time Spent Learning is a Time Never Wasted~
