Cory Rooney I just read Teddy's comment about me on twitter and the funny thing is, before this he had a great relationship with Taryll Jackson!!! Living right down the street from him and communicating with him constantly about music, studio gear, and... the overall state of the business you would think that he would have enough respect or be man enough to say what he felt!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sure would and I will when I get back to LA!!!!!!!!!!! I don't specifically mention Sony or anyone yet because we still don't know who the actual person is to Blame and I'm far from stupid!!! I will say this, it very easy to see the ones that got paid!!!!!!!! :0) I DO NOT MANAGE TARYLL JACKSON!!! he is just one of my closest friends along with his brothers and other members of the Jackson family including the Late and great Michael Jackson. Please YouTube anything on Taryll and tell me if you think there is a hostile bone in his body!! They better stop playing with me!!!!!!!!!!!

Breaking News Support Vocalist Revealed

The first of the Cascio tracks to be released –”Breaking News”–obviously isn’t a perfect realization of Michael Jackson’s abilities. Receiving the most critical attention are Jackson’s vocals, the veracity of which even some family and fans are questioning.
There are understandable reasons for this. This certainly isn’t a “typical” Jackson recording: there weren’t extensive warm ups with longtime vocal coach Seth Riggs, no layering and polishing by Jackson himself, no Bruce Swedien and world-class studio technology to capture the original vocal.

It was also specifically verified that the vocals did not belong to well-known Jackson impersonator, Jason Malachi.
Source: HuffingtonPost

Yeah that was from the full length HuffingtonPost article posted a few pages back that everyone pretty much called bullshit on.

I think the more we dig the more we will find we are all right to some degree, lol.

Michael is on the track, and supporting vocals are others which is what I was trying to say yesterday with my breakdown. Again this was called bullshit.

Who knows. I don't know how this will be resolved.

If the estate comes out and says all the research and investigation proves its not MJ and apologise, then as I have always said I'll be here saying I was wrong.

But what if it comes out that Michael is on the track, and many people have written it off saying its not him. What will they do then? Admit their mistake too?

I truly think for all the controversy it has caused the questionable tracks should be removed until this is confirmed 100%.

I think in all honesty the Cascio's scrambled to finish a track Michael may have lost interest in or abandoned all together. And thus in fleshing it out they filled out the vocals etc etc. That doesn't mean Michael isn't on the track though.

I don't know. All I can say is what is my point of view and hope I am respected right or wrong.

If it comes out I am 100% wrong I personally won't mind, and would hope no one on here would attack me for it. Likewise if it comes out Michael is on the track, I wouldn't attack others for admitting they were wrong also.

That's all I'm gonna say on it - as I feel some of the comments coming back now are starting to move into personal attacks and none of us want that.

Swa

Swa,I respect you and your opinion, and I am also willing to admit I was wrong if it can be proved that it is Mike on the song. wink

Dear Fans

As the Michael album was being put together, it was decided to bring Teddy Riley on board to work on several songs, including “Breaking News,” a song Michael recorded with Eddie Cascio and James Porte in late 2007 while living at the Cascio family home with his children. Riley produced and submitted “Breaking News” to Sony for inclusion on the album. At that time, no one ever mentioned that the vocals we heard on the Cascio songs, which were basically in demo format, might not be Michael. It was known, however, that the background vocals were a combination of Michael and James Porte.

After the tracks were submitted to Sony, three of these Cascio songs were selected to be on the album, and “Breaking News” was one of the three. The day after the submission and selection of the album tracks, for the very first time, the authenticity of Michael’s vocals on the Cascio tracks was questioned.

Because of these questions, I was immediately asked by co-Executors John Branca and John McClain to conduct an investigation regarding the authenticity of the lead vocals on the Cascio tracks.

Six of Michael’s former producers and engineers who had worked with Michael over the past 30 years - Bruce Swedien, Matt Forger, Stewart Brawley, Michael Prince, Dr. Freeze and Teddy Riley - were all invited to a listening session to hear the raw vocals of the Cascio tracks in question. All of these persons listened to the a cappella versions of the vocals on the Cascio tracks being considered for inclusion on the album, so they could give an opinion as to whether or not the lead vocals were sung by Michael. They all confirmed that the vocal was definitely Michael.

Michael’s musical director and piano player on many of his records over a 20-year period, Greg Phillinganes, played on a Cascio track being produced for the album, and said the voice was definitely Michael’s. Dorian Holley, who was Michael’s vocal director for his solo tours for 20 plus years (including the O2 Concert Tour) and is seen in the This Is It film, listened to the Cascio tracks and told me the lead vocal was Michael Jackson.

These are all engineers, producers and musicians who worked on tours and/or in the studio with Michael when he was recording Bad, Thriller, Off The Wall, Dangerous, Invincible, HIStory and Blood On The Dance Floor, and they all reconfirmed their belief that the lead vocals were Michael’s voice on the Cascio tracks.

The Estate then retained one of the best-known forensic musicologists in the nation to listen to the vocals without any instrumental accompaniment (“a cappella”), and to compare them with a cappella vocals from previous Michael songs. This expert performed waveform analysis, an objective scientific test used to determine audio authenticity, on the Cascio tracks, as well as previously released tracks with Michael’s voice, and reported that ALL of the lead vocals analyzed (which included Cascio tracks) were the voice of Michael Jackson.

Sony Music conducted their own investigation by hiring yet a second well-respected forensic musicologist who also compared the a cappella lead vocals from Cascio tracks against previously released vocals of Michael's, and found that Michael’s voice was the on all sets of the raw vocals. The Cascio tracks were also played for two very prominent persons in the music industry who played crucial roles in Michael’s career. Both of these individuals believed that the lead vocals were Michael’s.

Just to be absolutely certain, I also contacted Jason Malachi, a young singer who some persons had wrongfully alleged was a “soundalike” singer that was hired to sing on the Cascio tracks, and I confirmed that he had no involvement with this project whatsoever.

Sony decided that, given the overwhelming objective evidence resulting from the exhaustive investigations outlined above, they wanted to release a record that included three of the Cascio-Porte tracks - because they believed, without reservation, that the lead vocal on all of those tracks were sung by Michael Jackson.

Although there still seem to be concerns being expressed in some quarters about the authenticity of the lead vocals, notwithstanding the opinion of those who worked with Michael, and two independent forensic analysts, ultimately, Michael’s fans will be the judges of these songs, as they always are. We take all fan comments very seriously, and as I’d stated above, there is nothing more important to the Estate than Michael’s music, his legacy and his fans.

Michael’s fans are extraordinary in their quest for accuracy and their passions to raise their voices in a search for truth! We join with them in our care and concern for Michael. We are continuing to follow up with those who have worked in the studio or on tours with Michael, and if any new information comes to light, we will keep you and the fans advised.

Thanks,

Howard

Unbelievable. This only demonstrates that record labels are very powerful and will do what they can to stick to their agenda. It demonstrates they dont' want to waste time re-doing the whole album, yet they don't want to risk losing millions so they toss a statement like this one to appease fans. It does NOT demonstrate to me that the final product of Breaking News & co. are Michael's vocals. No statement can convince me of that. The fact that they used such a poor first single in the first place speaks for the whole album. The whole project is shady and it's a disgrace to Michael's legacy.

I said it once and I'll say it again, when you have a record deal of $200 million, there is NO WAY a artist's integrity will be respected. With a major deal like that, things will get shady and brushed under the rug. I knew this as soon as the deal announced. They will milk any way they can because they are almost gauranteed profits either way. They never did and never will care about what the fans think. Let's face it, they know fans will purchase the album no matter what. They know the sales will push it at the top of the charts. Who cares what's on it, because they know the fans will do it for the sake of Mchael's legacy. Either way, we're still jeopordizing Michael's legacy.

I'm boycotting the album. Sorry, can't respect it.

disbelief Who the fuck are they trying to fool?

First of all, the words don't have one hint of that Midwestern twang. Where's the slurring? Where's the country? Hell, Mike don't even speak in his regular voice like that!

Second, where the hell are the stomps and grunts and claps and finger snaps?! The ah! ah!'s after every other word?! There's a reason that nobody can stand still during his dance songs: He couldn't, either! Hell, you could dance on an acapella because he sho' did keep the beat!

Third, this imposter is trying waaaay too hard; sounding like a goat with that overdone vibrato! Mike's came with such ease, he did not need to try that hard; ESPECIALLY when he sang in his higher register.

After listening to some of MJ's background vocals (which are just as beautiful as his lead vocals), I think that that's the only part of the song that he contributed to. The rest sounds like a Michael Jackson impersonator who comes off sounding like some flat pop singer.

Sheeeeeet! Just let me know which songs are 100% Michael, because they will be the only ones gracing my iPod. I refuse to entertain the rest of this fuckery. hmph!

Honey, stop talking and just create the music.

I wish MJ was still here to walk in and settle this mess. The album cover

would NOT look the way it does and more importantly, these Cascio songs

would be in the trash, and at best, Internet leaks like "Mamacita" - and nothing

more. (Where they belong cus none are Michael.)

Companies do shady shit all the time. There is money to be made. They all know it is probably way too late at this point in the game and really don't give a crap.

I just say this, it's best if we make our voices known. If there are any songs in which I doubt the validity of Michael's voice I will just download the individual songs in which I believe are his and that's it. This will be unfortunate though because the press will jump on this as Michael's material not being popular with the public anymore and the $250 million dollar deal will be considered a true waste of time and money. I think as people who are, legitimately, interested in keeping his legacy alive we're kinda stuck in between a rock and a hard place.

We either buy the album to support Michael and also support the imposter which will encourage this kind of behavior from Sony and the Estate again in the future OR we boycott the album and be the very people that we criticize for tarnishing his legacy as this will affect any possible future releases.

This sucks.
