And for the one that said that the interview was not inflamatory... I think it was a very poor choice of conversation and view when your main audience is Black women, and you are giving an interview for a magazine that main target is Black women. Honestly, I couldn't help but take it personal. When he made a comment about Black women in a Black women's magazine... uhm... I think he was giving a message directly at the reader. That message to me said, I don't have to put up with your shyt Black women, I don't have to beg for a glass of water, I got this Asian woman who is happy to do it for me. Because you know what Black women said? Don't think we got to put up with your shyt. When couples go out to movies... if the woman is saying I don't care what you want... I DON'T want to see that Wesley Snipes movie... and her man just want some R+R and possibly some romance after the date... I don't think many men held out for the Snipes movies... and his box office career was over. And I really think it was in part that Black women boycotted his movies after that interview. I heard those comments from co-workers/friends several times during that time period. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

Hollywood blackballs lots of people for lots of different things. Bottom line is...If they don't think they can make money off yo azz then you are out regardless of your race! Hollywood is an equal opportunity ass fucker. Lindsay is not working but she could as she is deemed fuckable which translates to bankable in Hollywood. Plus if that heffa would just show up to work on time well.... Drew Barrymore came from Hollywood royalty. She wasn't ever gonna fail and be black balled....at least not for very long. Robert Downey Jr. is a helluva actor and he's married to a producer. His father was in the industry . Access granted. Janet just plain fucked up. The only 40+ year old woman allowed to bare her breasts in Hollywood is Pam Anderson. Who don't know that? Tom Sizemore is a helluva actor who has the ability to stay clean and sober but he doesn't cuz his ass can't find a job. All he needs is a break...before it's too late. Todd Bridges does not have the attractiveness or skill of a Denzel, the comedic flare of Cedric or Mike Epps, nor the range and appeal of Will Smith. I don't think he's being black balled...his ass just don't got what it takes anymore. Carry On. [Edited 3/18/10 11:43am] "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

Harlepolis said: I thought Wesely Snips burnt bridges when he made those remarks about black women.
But looking at this list reminds me how much of a fuckin' Hypocrite hollywood is. Look at Michael Jackson, here is a man that was accused but never committed any crimes, and look how the many people felt about him. On the other hand, Roman Polansky got away with statutory rape EVEN though he was committed, and not only that but a HEAP of Hollywood's biggest names stood up for him by forming a petition. Child actor Todd Bridges was on the Today Show couple of days ago, and he basically stated towards the end of the second part of the interview that he blames some of the failure to really restart a major acting career to racism; that despite the fact that he’s been clean and sober and has stayed out of trouble with the law for over 16 years, he’s still labeled as a drug addict and unreliable by the powers-that-be in Hollywood, while other white actors who have had their own share on drug problems, spent time in prison and wild behavior such as Robert Downey Jr and Drew Barrymore have kept working and have now are even bigger stars than they were years ago. What did Paul Mooney say? "Protection of the complexion for the collection" yeah sounds funny but I bet it hits home. Snipes may have burned bridges with his black female fan base, but that wouldn't bother Hollywood, honestly. I don't think Bridges is or ever was as good an actor as Downey, but maybe the problems kept him from honing the craft. Bridges definitely didn't have anyone telling him their doors were always open after prison and giving him plum jobs (Ally McBeal)to help re-brand and get him back on track. But it just is what it is. Who was the last non-white Hollywood 'bad boy'? lol ********************************************

Alright, I have to step in here right quick.
Tevin was blackballed cause he tried to pick up an undercover male cop in LA. Black folks ain't going for George Michael shit. Taye Diggs did some some wrong things, but I don't think they were as blunt as Wesley's. His career took a huge nose dive for that and his marriage to Idina did not help. Lastly, Drew does not have family loot. Her grandfather, John Barrymore was broke pretty much when he died and her father had no money-he was and maybe still is homeless. The Barrymores have a legacy of talent and a revered name in acting, but money is not part of the deal. Drew got what she has on her own. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

He looked happy because he was celebrating and spend lots of time talking and laughing. *After two minutes* Interviewer: Do you think there was someone behind all these [Michael's death]? Joe: Yes, because I hadn't seen Michael for a long time and he was being controlled and forbidden to see his family. We hadn't seen him for a long time. When I saw him for the last time, he looked frail and sad. The man is just a crazy ass. [Edited 3/20/10 16:10pm]

O.J. lost favor with White-America because he wasn't found guilty.
R. Kelly, like Roman Polaski, not only got away with child molestation, but is still very much celebrated. Kanye took what was being said in most African-American household and made them public. Bush doesn't care about Black people and we never cared about him. Janet has had to suffer through 'Nipplegate' alone, because her partner-in-crime was 'golden boy' Justin. I don't care enough about Wesley to be offended by his dating preference. And I'm definitely not attracted to him, either. It is not Bobby's fault that the true Whitney Houston surfaced. We all fell hard for the image of Whitney as the pop princess. None of us ever considered Whitney the flawed person. The Chris Brown backlash isn't because he beat a woman. It is because the woman he beat was Rhianna.

A white athlete or celebrity does something and it's almost glamorized, but if the person is black--well, then they are sent to the corn field. Todd Bridges is a little more problematic. He was a child star in a sitcom. Child stars rarely go further than their initial success. For every Jody Foster, there are a hundred Rodney Allen Ripeys. And unfortunately Todd never even had the talent of his long-suffering co-star, much less the chops of a Robert Downey Jr. Some people tell me I've got great legs...

Oh well, the things you get blacklisted for. BTW, no one has mentioned an obvious... Prince. although he has pushed past the blacklisting due to immense talent, continued hard work on the road and fans that are loyal. But Musicology should have been a lot bigger than it was if it got airplay. Especially R&B station that are now owned by Clear Channel, who it appears continues to participate in the black listing.
