Look- I understand wut ur sayin, i do...

But I'm just pointin out that there r many reasons why things went down the way they did. Its not so simple to say- "oh, its becasuse she was black..." I've pointed out that young, white females also suffered a backlash after they became what the media deemed "sexually explicit."

After the nip slip, Damiota JO was released. It sold 1 million sopies. With barely any radio support to boot.

I know u hate the Madonna comparisons, but- Music sold 3 million copies, just like All 4 U. Then American Life went and only sold 700k! That's LESS than Damita Jo! Madonna did not have a nip slip. She was not humiliated by the media. She is not black. So how do u explain that? Without all these things u say were workin against Janet, Madonna's flop still sold less than Janet's. So how do u explain that? Is it really all about the nipple and the media?

20 YO was the real test. Many ppl flop sometime in their career. But after u flop, u either need to stay steady, or sell slightly more, or at leats make an acclaimed album. Instead. 20 YO sold less, and was not very well recieved by fans or critics. Most ppl consider it her worse album, and msot fans were unsatisfied with her image at the time. Damita Jo was Janet's first dissapintment, fine. By 20 YO, ppl could've moved on from it, like they moved on from Mariah's humuliation. But she just didn't realease the album for the job, is my point. She needed a monster album, and she didn't put one out.

Ur tryna say theres NO WAY Janet coulda bounced back, but from My POV, its very obvious she couldve. Michael is black and bounced back. Madonna is old and bounced back. Mariah is a female that was humiliated and she bounced back. Why not Janet, u say? Because she's black? I dont think so.

um ok

Just like I thought. nod

She owned up to it. JT cried. Don't open your mouth if you don't know what the fuck you're talking about confused

The issue here is giving her the benefit of the doubt. She has always passed it off as if was Justin's idea only. Lastly, I am NOT a child nor am I your child Mindiscover, so you need to check yourself...

Janet never passed it as Justin's idea. She said on national television that it was her fault and passed it off as if she was the one that planned this alone. The fact is she didn't.

Like I said already if you don't know what the fuck you're talking about don't say anything on the matter at all.

You give a child the benefit of the doubt, not some grown ass woman who is supposed to know better. I am all for the supporting of my people, but when it comes to doing dumb shyt, that's when I have a problem. Too many of us wanna play the victim or the race card, when we fuck up or when things don't go our way. Janet blew it, and she was not grown enough to put on her "grown up" panties and take responsibility for her part of it.

I didn't say anything about being a child with all due respect, you did. Second thing, I'm aware she's a grown woman. Unless you've gotten through you entire adulthood never being misunderstood or having something go wrong unintentional than please write a book and share it with the rest of us. Nor did I say anyting about race... if you've read any of what I've posted in this thread I thought Ms. Jackson caught a bit of blow back from her brother's trials and tributlations. Getting bent out of shape for a millisecond of a tit airing on TV... most people didn't see in real time. The news at 5, 6, and 10 slowed the tape down and pressed replay.... and still photographs where published. Ms. Jackson explanation of what transpired seem plausible to me, you disagree. shrug

That's what I do for a living.... I give people the benifit of the doubt just because it's reapeated upteem time, "THEY DID IT!" Some haven't done what they are accused of or at least all that has been claimed. I'll repeat, "we" should know better and at least be a little bit sceptical.

I have read everything that you have written and I still place blame on Janet as well as Justin. Yes, I have done things that I am not proud off, but you are gonna sit there and tell me that her actions were unintentional? C'mom...man. She did that for publicity and it backfired.

Got caught in what? Hasn't Ms. Jackson always put on a show? I don't recall the sista every sittting on a stool singing... let alone standing still. A total over-reaction.... all because some man was heavy handed and pulled the wrong layer of clothing off.

He didn't though. It was planned that she would show her boobie. Why on earth would you wear a pastie over your nip unless you were planning such a thing? People aren't stupid. JT figured this out and that's why his punk ass distanced himself from the situation. He realized that the so called good idea was a complete foul up.

nod I never thought it was a mistake for the same reason... why the pastie unless you were going to expose your boob?

Blech! Lot's of folk think his career took a dive because of his Oprah sofa antics but he's been workin' up an ass whupin for years. One of the reason's why he's one of the richest actors around is because he's supposedly the one that started the trend of actors getting a percentage of the gross. He made something like 40 mill off of Mission Impossible. Hollwyood don't like to pay that much. He actually cost studios a lot of money in the long run. Plus he's supposedly a control freak with his ladies. **cough** **Napoleon complex** **cough**

Then there's his whole Scientology thing. He supposedly shoots his films around when the timing is right according to his faith. He was very outspoken about postpartum depression and autism and how prescription drugs are all bad. This is a dude who barely graduated high school. I think if he's ever been close to being blackballed it's probably because he has this air of pretentiousness and arrogance. There's something to be said for humility in the entertainment biz and I don't think he has much of it...anymore.

Okay,
Now I do remember something about Cruise offending Spielberg. I think... Spielberg it was Spielberg. And I thought Cruise and the wife of big hollywood producer squared off about Scientology belief and producer got pissed and just wanted Tommy to go away... and Tom being pushy won't take no for an answer.

I saw or read a gossipy story about Cruise insisting on being the presenter of some osbsure award show for this producer and the producer looked surprised and not happy that Cruise was there presenting the award.

I thought it was Spielberg.

At any rate.... it is surprising that Scientology would cause that much ruckus... I bet it is the whole trailblazing percentage of gross profits.

You mean the "I am Blade!" shit? lol Yeah I can see that being the factor, I almost forgot about that episode, I think several mentioned it here.

Speilberg was, and still is per reports, pissed at Cruise for turning his PR for War of the Worlds into a talkathon about his love for Katie Holmes (couch jumping on Oprah), damning Brook Shields for her post-pregnancy depression treatment *and* Scientology lobbying. The last great five foot seven movie star was Bruce Lee.

No one wanted to see Tom Cruise sans German Accent, a high-school grad with a Scientology degree in Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacology and History, make a movie about a failed assassination attempt on Hitler. Everyone knows how the story turned out. No one wanted to pay for the privilege of seeing Cruise do his standard schtick.

No, because he had the same lack of education all through is career.

My point is that he damaged his image considerably talking about subjects that he knew nothing about. The jumping Oprah moment, the attacks on Brooke Shields, his promotion of Scientology, all contributed to his public image taking a huge hit.

Valkyrie may or may not have been a good film, but he cost the studios a lot of money with all the negative publicity. No one wanted to spend money on a so-so film, starring a guy that they thought was insane.
