MJ's Thriller 25 is basically Michael living off of past glory, plus remix versions of classics that only the children & grandchildren of long time Michael fans would like.

Right now, Madonna is launching Hard Candy, which is THE most hip-hop/hip-pop/"hood" album of her career (more so than Bedtime Stories for that matter). Despite the potential of Hard Candy to provoke division among Madonna's long-time gay fans, the album will give her black audience a "hood" record to jam to, which is something Michael & Prince haven't done in a while. At least the main single 4 minutes is above the 95 BPM mark, thank goodness!

I went to a BB King concert a couple of years ago with my mom & I swear to U, we were 2 of the only 15 Black people in that 10,000 seating place. The rest were white people. Why??? I have no idea.

I blame our Black Radio Stations & B.E.T....they simply don't give Black Artists who don't do "Hip Hop" or "R&B" a chance. For that reason. most blacks I know don't know much about Prince other than Purple Rain. Michael Jackson got played more than Prince because his music was deemed more "Black" than Prince. I hope this will change someday.

I honestly have no idea why they don't have love for Prince but I know why they still have love for Michael because he goes back to the MOTOWN days and they still feel connected to him that way. My dad still bumps to MJ on occasion playing "Thriller".

No, he is right, blacks tend to like MJ better. Probably because Prince is more eclectic, rock and roll sounding. Blacks tend to hate rock music, thinking it is white music. Just a lack of history class, like most of us.

Maybe in this younger generation but when I was growing up in the early 1980s, when it came to black folks, at least in my area, it was always Prince vs. Rick James and it was never Prince vs. Michael Jackson until white people discovered who Prince was.

Since Michael blew up so big with "Thriller", then he started doing kiddie shit like narrating an "ET" album, going to the awards with Webster, started being known for hanging with kids, I've seen him become a public figure that kids (of all colors, not just black) grow up watching like Barney, Elmo, The Easter Bunny, and Santa Claus. Michael Jackson, with his kiddie ass, became something that parents could put their children in front of the TV and entertain them. No parent in their right mind would put their todlers in front of a TV with Prince prancing around singing about sex. See Prince is for the grown folks, Michael is for the brats.
