Sharon Jones

You guys think R&B is dead! Guess Again

One of the most underrated soul singers in today's R&B scene

Sharon Jones is possibly one of the most underrated soul singers in the R&B scene today. She came way before Amy Winehouse,Joss Stone and Duffy and was one of the first R&B singers in the neo soul generation to use real retro R&B in the contemporary R&B music. Her band the Dap Kings collaberated with Amy on her Back to Black album and they said working with Amy was good but working with Sharon is even better and an experience.

What do you guys think about this woman and should she show the UK music scene how soul music is done

I'm a recent convert to Ms. Sharon Jones and will gladly praise her talents and strengths. She may be a little too black, too strong and a too old to get the proper recognition she deserves.

It is good to know that there are people who have heard of this talented woman she came way before these British artists who claim to be retro soul but she did not get proper recognition.

British artists...like Amy Winehouse? Well, she's backed by sharon's band the Dap Kings so she's at least making an attempt with real talent behind her.

Check out all of the artists at daptone records, so great afrofunk/soul and great music.

Right! I like Amy don't get me work but I don't the selective card they play in the music industry especially when comes to people who are really talented and who something to contribute to in music.

Oh we're talking talent, yeah haven't seen any from that side of the pond as far as soul music is concerned. Make sure you see her live, the show does not disappoint. Make sure you bring extra money for the VINYL they sell!
