Kanye West confirms that he's working on Michael Jackson's new album.

Michael Jackson is teaming up with Kanye West to record his new album.

The 'Stronger' rapper has revealed that he is currently working on material for Jackson's follow-up to 2001's Invincible.

West told The Sun: "I’m working on stuff for Michael Jackson. If I like a person’s outlet or what a person brings to the table, then I’ll speak to them."

Jackson sparked rumours yesterday that he may have some new material ready for release by claiming in a newsletter to his fans that he was about to announce some "exciting news".

The 'Thriller' singer has also been working with Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am and rapper Ne-Yo on his record, which has been described as as sounding like Off The Wall for a contemporary audience.

The album is rumoured to have a release date in early 2008.

If they are going for an "Off The Wall" -type of sound - then why don't work with people who actually know how to orchestrate the instruments that were used to make that album and its sound?

Off The Wall? That's one of his least succesful albums. Invincible sounded like Off The Wall and didn't do MJ well.
Working up a purple sweat.

Maybe it's funky but it doesn't have the variety or commercial appeal of Thriller. He just wouldn't be MICHAEL JACKSON just relying on Off The Wall.

Thats true !
But..
He wouldnt have established himself as a RELEVENT adult solo artist without Off the Wall...
Thriller was a major event before it was even released because Off the wall was HUGE !

I hope Kanye has written a better song than he did for Janet. I didn't care for "My Baby" on Damita Jo.

Kanye saying "If I like a person’s outlet or what a person brings to the table, then I’ll speak to them" is unacceptable when talking about Michael Jackson. Show the man respect. If you are supposed to be an associate of his, then you shouldn't be talking like that. Expecially since it's Kanye West. Of all people. Does he realise how lucky he is to be working with Michael Jackson? He isn't doing Michael any favours. I hope he doesn't think he's Michael's superior or something. Get over yourself Kanye. Michael isn't counting his blessing because you are working with him.

OH MY GOD. People please stop comparing Prince to Michael Jackson. In fact I wish the former would work with other people (in particular producers)....

As for her West working on this new Michael Jackson album, until the final cut, we have no idea if his contributions will even be on it.

I know! I hate this motherfucker more than Justin Timberlake. He even called himself and Timberlake the Michael Jackson and Prince (with him being Jackson) of this generation!

If Justin's Prince and Kanye's Michael, then I'm... Santa Claus. lol Only thing MJ about Kanye is his costume he wore near the end of his 2006 "performance" at the Grammy Awards. lol

It better be a good original beat. I don't want Kanye sampling a J5 record, and giving it to MJ for his new album.

As far as I am aware, he is not on a label. I am hoping he will release some of his songs on his official website.

I do hope he does take the Radiohead route now that I know what that's all about. When will first suggested it, I wanna rap him in the mouth but now, I think this is nice to do so.

No. I believe there were samples on a couple of tracks on HIStory.

He sampled Yes' "Owner of a Lonely Heart" for "D.S." and the "Twilight Zone" narration for "Threatened".

Didn't the remix of "Scream" sample Sly Stone, right?

Yeah I think so too. Instead of becoming involved in another fight to the death struggle with a record company, it would be cool if he just does a distribution deal. And also have downloads available on his official website (which by the way sucks right now).

See I like how Mike does his sample on DS..its almost like I cant notice them at all because there is still so much original music in it already.

Threatened I dont count. He chopped those samples up so that he made a narration. That was one of the most creative uses of voice sampling I ever heard nod

It wasnt a real musical sample.
