Mj knows to work digital and analogue recording equipment.
Knows how to play a variety of instruments decently (not to princes level of course)
Knows how to drum program, how to record and set up vocal harmonies...
set up string patterns..
knows how to sample...
Know how to write a song
so ...
What skill doesn't he have...?

What song can I listen 2 that Mike performed all of those skills on?

go check the credits of HIStory...
Guess who played all the instruments and did most of the production?

Dude...
Work For Hire is no longer applicable music industry, hasn't been since like the 70's

And even if it were a work for hire sittuation, MJ would've done it for every album. He didn't get the same creds as he did in History...
He produced a fair majority of that album by itself.
2, its completely asanine to have worked in the music industry (unless your madonna) and not have learned the trade...
And i'm just saying that because thats simple logistics...
In reality i do know MJ produces his own stuff, because i had connections at the Hit Factory, I even know Michaels preference to computer software. Which was (then) Logic 6.1 Platinum

Cool! Good to read a post by someone who knows what he is talking about instead of the b.s. that abounds in most Michael Jackson-related threads.

I'm telling u that there r people that make a living at "working 4 hire", sell their work outright 4 a nice fee, and move on 2 the next artist.

Unless you have proof that Michael Jackson does this, I am going to believe someone who works in the music business -- EmbattledWarrior. He criticizes Michael Jackson often on the Org, so he is far from being a delusional fan. And why do you care whether or not Michael Jackson produces his entire album alone? Are you not a Janet Jackson fan, like Cinnamon234 pointed out? I assume that you are an ex-fan of Michael Jackson. If you are, why stick around and post on a thread on his new album? If you are apathetic, move on.

Again, unless you have proof that Michael Jackson does work for hire, I am going to assume that what you are saying about Michael Jackson in particular is not true. His work with his brothers at Epic and work for other artists and for himself speak for themselves. Besides, why do you care about his new album, if you are an ex-fan. If you are apathetic, move on.

Just help me with my request: What song can I listen 2, where Mj produced the entire song by himself? I'm talking about the writing, the arrangement, the instrumentation, and the performance.

Check out Morphine and They Don't Care About Us -- that is the closest I can come to your request.

There are also other songs on HISTORY and BLOOD ON THE DANCEFLOOR.

Again, why do you care so much whether or not a song is the product of one person alone? Other than classical music, modern popular music, I thought, was a cooperative effort. Even the former requires more than one person.

No it's not, and if you worked for the biz you should know that.
I've been doing this for 5 years and i've never seen a work for hire case...
Because nobody uses it in the industry because of the ease for copyright infringement, though work for hire is boundless by the law, the creative process isn't under it. IE a bunch of motifs created while making the work, but never used. Unlike say films, where a cinemotographer hires a work for hire contractor on a specific part of the movie, thats usually because the director or othe rfilm makers has an idea in mind but can't achieve it somehow and needs a contractor who specializes in it.
In music it isn't so simple. Music is ambiguous and is almost unintelllible when or when not it is for hire...
I think its more common for an album to be work for hire than a song
but i really have't seen any work for hire cases so what do i know

If they are going for an "Off The Wall" -type of sound - then why don't work with people who actually know how to orchestrate the instruments that were used to make that album and its sound?

Because keyboard workstations like THIS (Korg M3) has replace all of that:

I don't think he should work with any producers. He should get together with his brothers and they should write, produce, and play all the songs with real instruments and real funk. He should just ignore what's on the radio today and what's been on the radio for the last 15 years.

No, his album wouldn't be a huge mainstream success, but like Prince, he has a huge enough fan base that will buy anything that he puts out so he could at least save his musical reputation with smaller sales from his fanbase rather than a huge sellout mainstream smash.

VA, we're talking about Michael Jackson, The King Of Pop, a man with a professional ego that will not allow him to settle for "smaller" record sales like Prince or Madonna. disbelief

For anything, I wonder how much money is he going to spend on a new video this time around. We know Michael loves to make a statement with expensive videos that cost $10+ million each.
