The clicks can be heard at the beginning of Stand Up & B strong in the background of the piano intro for instance.

You don't really notice them unless you are wearing headphones.

Check the record could have been a great instrumental. Nice groove and guitar work.the lyrics and way of signing don't quite match up with the tempo and groove of the song. I have this with most of the songs unfortunately. It's not a bad album per se. But I need multiple listens.

Although that might be a bit obtuse. Maybe a sample of Arnold from Commando? Or ‘Break ya goddam spine’ from Running Man? Obviously right up front in the mix after the knees bit. [Edited 7/25/21 5:58am] All splendid suggestions.

Actually I jumped the gun on this album I am on my second listen and the songs sound a lot better than they did on 1st listen. I am using a sound bar to listen to them.My headphones broke on me a few days ago.I am sure these songs will sound even better when I get a new pair of headphones soon. Not a bad album at all.

For once I am NOT actively seeking this out - & of course Rin Tin Tin pops up on a random streaming site FFS! A decent enough track but dare I say it needs editing. Love the live vibe from the tracks so far.

after listening to this album about ten times, in my opinion, this just isn't a good album, its obvious to me why he shelved it, forget this fantastical narrative theyre trying to shove down our throats that he knew how controversial it might be and the world wasnt ready for this album and its super-relevant in 2021 - thats all trash, it just aint that great, thats why it went in the vault [Edited 7/25/21 17:18pm]

I've listened to this a few times now. For me it's an absolutely solid album, nothing I feel the need to skip and I'm enjoying every track.
1010(RIN TIN TIN) Call to all the women Call to the men What could be stranger than the times we’re in Earthquake, flood, (law, Better hurricane?)
To the marrow of the bone And the eye of the mind Like drink if you’re thirsty And sight if you’re blind We’ve got to let the funk unwind
Enmity Between us since the fall began What about genetics do we not understand Maybe we should listen to the band?
The band Rin Tin Tin
Analogue people, in a digital world Too much information Just make your head curl Nothing left of value If it’s all the same kind Time to let the funk unwind
Rin Tin Tin Rin Tin Tin Rin Tin Tin Rin Tin Tin
Still a second hand on your masters clock It’s best to be like water, there’s no vibration in rock Meet me in between the atoms Beethoven and Bach Ask the Lone Ranger Rin Tin Tin
Better better better hurry cute Rin Tin Tin We need to let the funk unwind. Here come the jury Talking about good and bad Rafter in their eyes From the power they had Check check the watches Can somebody please tell me the real time? They got to let the funk unwind Rin Tin Tin Rin Tin Tin Rin Tin Tin

Most of the W2A tracks can be seen on tapes in this death investigation photo from outside the vault. So, if this is CD-R sourced, that is some incomprehensible sloppy and laszy ass work by Howe and company:

I left my Amazon preorder active for the Japanese edition because I wanted the concert. . But it looks like that might not be deliverable. While they haven’t cancelled my order, that particular version is listed as “Currently not available” on Amazon. I don’t know if they maybe will fulfill previously-placed preorders. I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

That song by Nikka is fucking amazing and I would love to hear his take.

Somewhat underwhelmed with what we've gotten so far. The title track was moreso interesting than actually good and Born 2 Die, while the best song revealed so far, has an unfinished, grainy sound to it that almost completely kills the mood for me. Same for Hot Summer, meant to be a summer jam but sounds so empty that it defeats the purpose.

I don't think "Hot Summer" should be taken literally. Sure, it sounded shallow when first released but in the context of this album, I think there's another meaning there.

Listened to it a load of times now, gonna have a break from it now until I get the cd in my hand. Still think it’s really good, and happy they have released it. [Edited 7/26/21 0:23am]

For the French readers, here's a new Morris Hayes interview about W2A :

One answer is interesting, about 1010 (Rin Tin Tin) he says : [Edited 7/26/21 2:36am] "You can skate around the issue if you like,

Apparently the other 8 tracks that ended up being part of Welcome 2 America.

This doesn't mean Prince didn't add those tracks later - only that Morris did not produce them. On the recent podcast, Shelby and the girls recalled the recording of 'Yes' as part of those sessions and Shelby referenced '1010 (Rin Tin Tin) lyrically. Clearly the songs Morris had would not constitute a finished album.
