after listening to it for a while now, the novelty of it does wear off quite fast. I'm sure this wasn't meant as a "proper song", just something to test the drum machine with. It reminds me of a song from a couple years later that has nothing to do with Prince but has some of the same influences and the vibe is definitely there.

I don't know why it seems to be so hard for some people to understand, but holding onto material someone trusted you with is not about ego or wanting to be an "elite trader" (whatever that might mean) – it's about integrity and being a man of your word. Apologies - After 400 listens, it's Prince. The verse near the end just doesn't sound like his voice at all, it sounds like someone impersonating his voice, though it is similar to the fadeout of "Neon Telephone".

The guitar and bass line are dissimilar to anything else he was doing at the time (and after), but then again there are hints of "Calhoun Square" in there.

So... yeah, it's Prince... just sounds so straight-up different... wonder what the rest of these sessions are like!!
