Is this the same drum track he used for the early Wouldn’t You Love To Love Me?

Just heard it finally! Very cool track. Sounds like it could stand side-by-side with Sly's "If You Want Me To Stay" in a track sequence

That a bit of Glass Cutter.

I always forget about Glasscutter - which is no reflection on the song.

quick lyrics....

Neurotic Lover's Baby's Bedroom

Welcome to the Neurotic Lover's Bedroom baby

where just about anything can happen ohhh

Multifaceted sex devices blow your mind from every angle
Have you tried the lotus position while being strangled?
No?
well step inside and peel off your inhibitions baby
The fun has just begun

Hello my sweet want some stuff?
help yourself unless of course uhh you're high enough
take off your clothes I want to show you a trick
but first I want you to meet a fiend of mine
Say hello to my fffff that's it hold it right there
don't move i got the jam baby if you got the groove
it aint nothing but a hammer baby you got the block
umm stop jiving baby let's rock
are you ready?
I said are you ready ummm

if you're ready take this uh

(guitar Break)

Do you know what I am talking about now? umm
you are definatly holding some tomatos baby
(inhails)
Right there
alright

tune in next week baby for another adventure from
Neurotic Lover's Baby's Bedroom

Where anything can happen

that's the place that owns

Multi facited sex devices that will blow your mind from every angel
if you ever try the lotus postion try it while you're being strangled
Understand what I am saying?
I mean get a rope and strangle yourself

if you can't do it yourself have someone do it
But stangle... you know what I mean?
Blue face.. just I mean the works do it
if you're going to do it do it right

Wow. Wow. This song is amazing. That guitar, that bass, that voice. There is a lyric that I don't like, but otherwise it's amazing. This would've been the most talked about song on For You if he put it on there. It would've been controversial. There may have been some reviews saying that it's a Bootsy copy, but it's far more than that.

What did number23 day to encourage a leak on this?

all i know is one day he's complaining about some people who did not share the song(s), even at the behest of a bandmember, and the next day it's out. i am left to assume his public shaming caused the leakage.

or it could be one big coincidence.

That's immediately what i thought of too lol lol

This pure smoke.

No way they could have handled this joint in 1977, 78, 79 or 80.

Here it is:

Honestly - the insular, elitist nature of much of the Prince fan community has never failed to amaze me since becoming a fan in the 80s. Imagine any other musical artist community where fans take a perverse pride in secrecy. Bruce/NIN/Beatles - all make Prince fans look like Gollum with their precious. Prince cultivated this attitude, of course, but he’s dead - and I doubt he’d care about preserving the Estate’s future cash cows for the sake of 5000 or so hardcore fans that are left wanting to hear a concert recording. Which they will buy anyway when officially released.

Saying ‘these recording are easily available’ but ‘don’t ask me where’ (and I guess that also means by org note as that’s been ignored) is absurd cloak and dagger clandestine behaviour. I get you can’t say where in public on the org, but a private communication? Prince ain’t monitoring this anymore and the chance that I’m a Web Sheriff hired by the Estate is nonexistent. I guess the buzz now, in lieu of ‘new’ releases, is not from listening to the music, but from the possession.

He’s gone. It should all be shared amongst the tiny few who appreciate it. If I ever got a hold of the harddrive at Iron Mountain, you’d all be listening to Neurotic Lover’s Baby’s Bedroom within minutes. The Estate deserves none of the financial rewards of Prince’s endeavour. He deliberately didn’t make a Will. He likely wanted fate to decide what happened to it all. I personally think he should have had a legal agreement drawn up to release everything in the Vault online upon his death so no-one profited from his work.

The time it took you type that tho - let your fingers do the walkin'

Love this track. Amazingly crisp too.

I can see why it wouldn't fit on an early album but it would have been an amazing opener.

I wonder why it isn't titled "Neurotic Lover's Bedroom"? I don't think he explicitly states the "Baby's" part.

I lost count of how many future songs are in this one.

There's even some Let's Go Crazy up in that....and pretty sure the base is one of the go to grooves we've heard in extended live breakdowns, it's familiar.

About 1977....The guitar sounds like it could have been added later based on the mix and the pedal effect.... it's young Prince, but the Blueface section is kinda advanced for that time even for a pervy kid. Clearly Prince could time travel.

Cool. Nice way to test that drum computer. (Do we know what type it was?) The sound of the drum computer immediately brings back Sly around There's A Riot Going On, but much more sparsely with the other instruments, basically two guitars who do a very minimal groove, with Prince doing spoken word over it a la P-Funk (Wants To Get Funked Up).

.

At first I was thinking that the vocals were sped up, a first instance of the Camille voice. smile I think this simply needs to be slowed down a little, although I think we can just check what key it is in. (I've never known Prince to be into alternative tunings)

.

As it is, a nice, minimal funk groove. Not really a song. And the first instance of BDSM in Prince's lyrics that I know of.

Btw I'm really impressed that this is stereo and hearing the background vocal in the left channel. Just goes to show you he always had this nasty side in him even when he was doing gorgeous but G rated jams like Baby and JALAWT.
