I pr-ordered the 7" vinyl box set and peach 2LP version (which I would have got anyway). If I wait a bit the 8CD boxset will get cheaper and i'll offset some that 7"box set cost. So cool.

Did U order it from Thirdmanstore?

True, but the same track list is on Prince.com. Maybe only lists with running times are being taken down (as was Qobuz). Are they trying to hide something?

Yup the track list and page(s) are gone on qobiz

Good thing i grabbed the list before it was pulled lol

Cheers for that.

It seems like that section of the set was for unreleased remixes (Being between a 12" mix of Wonderful Day and Strange Relationship). Maybe they couldn't get the rights to the mixes they intended on using? Maybe 'Housequake (Razormaid Remix)' could have been one of the intended tracks but got removed as it's not technically unreleased?

My only wish is that,if I buy the CDs,I would want the full size book that comes with it and not one the size of the CDs.

The book is the same size for both, 12" x 12"

If so this is probably why the CD set is so pricey. I could really do without the book.
But it will be nice to have

OK people. I think there's either some hidden tracks on the Vault discs or some tracks that have been removed.

Going by the running times on Qobuz (page now removed)

CD4 total running time: 1h 14m 57s
CD5 total running time: 1h 15m 53s
CD6 total running time: 1h 07m 11s

So CD6 is 7-8 minutes shorter than the other vault discs, and side 12 on the vinyl only contains a single track (which is about 7 mins long).

-----

According to the numbered tracks from Questlove's leak, all the numbers chronologically match until we get to this section of the set.

71 Big Tall Wall (Version 2) 2020 Remaster
72 A Place In Heaven (Lisa Vocal) 2020 Remaster
73 Wonderful Day (12" Mix) [2020 Remaster]
...
76 Strange Relationship (1987 Shep Pettibone Club Mix)
77 Intro / Sign O The Times (Live)

So what happened to tracks 74 & 75?

Edit for typo

[Edited 6/25/20 13:45pm]

With the tie in with Third Man Records for the 7” box set, I’m hopeful for that too but know I’ll be wrong. Third Man have done some weird things with vinyl, e.g. Jack White’s Lazaretto.

https://thirdmanstore.com...o-12-vinyl

- 2 vinyl-only hidden tracks hidden beneath the center labels
- 1 hidden track plays at 78 RPM, one plays at 45 RPM, making this a 3-speed record
- Side A plays from the inside out
- Dual-groove technology: plays an electric or acoustic intro for “Just One Drink” depending on where needle is dropped. The grooves meet for the body of the song.
- Matte finish on Side B, giving the appearance of an un-played 78 RPM record
- Both sides end with locked grooves
- Vinyl pressed in seldom-used flat-edged format
- Dead wax area on Side A contains a hand-etched hologram by Tristan Duke of Infinity Light Science, the first of its kind on a vinyl record
- Absolutely zero compression used during recording, mixing and mastering
- Different running order from the CD/digital version
- LP utilizes some mixes different from those used on CD and digital version
There may or may not be something coming!

That, and yeah of course at the time it was promoted as a collection of "previously unreleased" material from the vault, but still it was an album, it was sequenced in a certain, very intentional way (not just chronologically), some tracks were purposedly edited, a general tone was given to the record as a whole (clearly it was some sort of party record).

.

After 22 years I just cannot at all see it as a random assemblage of tracks, I've loved it so much for so long, it just flows so naturally in my mind that it's a whole, and these mid-80's and TGE-era tracks totally belong there for me by now.

.

But admitedly how I feel about it doesn't matter, in the end Prince released it (and it was WIDELY available albeit for a short time, I bought it first on release in a big record store chain in France: they had it, everyone who lived in a big city could have it, then a second time on the tour so I could have Kamasutra on CD), he took responsibility for it, he featured it as the 1998 album in his online discographies in the old NPGMC days, and the estate respects this and treat it as an album as well and I mean, what are they supposed to do: disassemble it and claim it never existed and redirect its content to reissues? That'd be barbaric!! Now release the alt. mixes yeah, anytime, please!! But there'll be room for these later on, the diggin' of the vault is only at its beginning.

.

I truly wonder if CBII was compiled before being shelved. What a treat this would be!!

My thoughts exactly! I see somebody already replied that CBII wasn't finished, but at the very least, there was a list of songs compiled for the voting...and hopefully edits of Extra and Lust that exclude the rape reference that could be part of a CB98 Vault Discs.

If he made them himself at the time, I'm all for it.

Don't worry though, sooner or later the times will get less hysterical and the originals can be released as well.

http://princevault.com/index.php?title=Wonderful_Day

I'm a bit confused as whether the title is really Wonderful Day or It's A Wonderful Day. Apparently the "it's" was there both on recording day and DF tracklist, but maybe we'll learn that when the 12'' version was made (later in 87 it appears?) the title was changed??

Don't think those mixes at the end are chronological. I really doubt he was intending to release Wonderful Day by 1987 or late 86 (this timeline would also mean he committed Lisa vocals to APIH after Rev broke up).

Fair enuff. I didn't pay attention too closely I must admit. Well, all I can say about this title, Cocoa Boys or Soul Psychodelicide being butchered off the rehearsal instead of a real 1986 edit or studio track (among other possible fuck ups) is:

BEWARE, MICHAEL HOWE, BEWARE...

it's not one of my favorite tracks so i didn't even remember that wendy and lisa are on lead lol

what's interesting is that the 12" mix is twice the length of the regular version, clocking in at 7:38

i do keep wondering about this track in particular. will it simply be an edit of the rehearsal?
i mean, princevault implies that the rehearsal is the only version of this particular song that
is known.

but in that case wouldn't it also be called 'live in studio' just like "power fantastic"?

so could it possibly be that there is an unknow 1986 studio track called "soul psychodelicide"?

Note that nothing was "rushed". These kinds of things need to be designed and printed, it's not like they can start doing that in September or so. Projects have deadlines for reasons.
