Same! I've pulled out the sewing machine, and have been repairing a quilt I made about 16 years ago. Many evenings I've sat at the machine on the dining room table, and told Alexa to "Play SiriusXM Channel 30 in the lounge" (the Alexa and the FireTV together). Sometimes we may skip a Prince song, but you're sorta forced to just sit it out with streaming. So, I've been made to listen to songs I may have otherwise dismissed (especially stuff in the aughts and onward). It's been nice to hear old and new, familiar, and oddities, etc.

But I have to say, the DJ Rashida stuff the other night was boring as fuck. She was interviewing someone, just rambling or whatever. I must've missed his part of the radio demo, because her part was a snoozefest. I could've lost a finger in the sewing machine had I fallen asleep during that shizness! lol

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Same. I'm gonn miss free Siriius strameing period. Been binging the hell out of Howard Stern, Raw Dog comedy and all the new channels while I work but whatever I guess. Millions of podcasts and stuff I can go back and catch up on. TBH, there wasn't enough fresh stuff and deep cuts on the special new channels to keep me engaged but it was still fun while it lasted.

I followed Howard over there and ended up loving it. Made sure my car had a radio when I bought it. I listen on the app at home and during walks. I love being able to SEE the Stern interviews also and accessing the library.

I was addicted to The Beatles channel when it first came on... the Prince Channel has been amazing, wish it was permanent.

One thing I caught listening to a lot of Stern archives was how often he and his guests would tell Prince tales. You can tell he's a real fan and in several interviews his guests share a lot of Prince stories. More than you'd think.

On the down side....god damn I feel so OLD (53) going through the History of Howard Stern and re-hearing so much stuff I was around for in my younger days. The idea of Howard Stern being this dangerous horrible influence seems almost quaint now given what we're currently going through.

lol totally.

Oh, HS has gone on and on and about the genius of Prince. But his story about how he was invited to a private mini Prince concert at some NYC hotel and when the performance began Prince turned off all the lights in the room. Howard was furious because he wanted to SEE him play. Hilarious!

The Stern Show from about 1988 Billy West's debut - 2008 Artie Lange losing steam will always be the king midas gold standard of radio that no ambien-esque podcast or mediocre "hot talk" show from the last decade and beyond will ever be able to hold a candle to. Joe Rogan sounds like he's falling asleep 90% of the time, I can't even believe that's the guy of 2020 talk, someone effed up the timeline royally..... I grew up setting my alarm to a groggy 6 a.m. sharp and going through middle/high school with headphones stealthly hidden during morning classes, wouldn't trade it for anything.

History of Howard is a solid, but a lot of those Mastertape Theatre's are censored/edited in a variety of places now... of course any of the old Alison references are also gleaned based on the NDA specifications of their divorce settlement... the real tapes are "around" the internet like anything else, but I always wish we could get proper archives at proper quality....

Curious...with his birthday coming up, I'm wondering if they'd maybe extend the channel through June (or better yet) indefinetely? Would be fitting, and there's plenty of material. Has it gotten good ratings (if that's the proper terminology nowadays)? There's got to be some monetary benefit for the Estate to keep this thing going I'd imagine...

Ok I can feel the hate coming but they've been playing a song lately with a lyric about "heaven or hell" and "open up" I believe. I've only heard it twice but any help would be greatly appreciated. Funky track with a synthesizer hook.

I agree with Rashida's last one...that was really boring.

But they've been playing a lot from the 90s and 20s this week (at least when i have it on). Especially from Crystal Ball, Come, and Chaos. It's been really refreshing to hear these tracks randomly come on. A few weeks ago, it seemed I heard Theives in the Temple and Batdance about 100 times...love both songs...but everyone has limits! lol.

WTF not can't there be a permanent Prince one?

I've listened to all the Purple Playlists and all have been awesome and insightful. Even though I totally enjoyed the stories from Andre C., Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis and Wendy & Lisa/The Revolution - my favorite Purple Playlist host was Maya Rudolph! I dug her picks the most because I concur with her emotions, descriptions and loved her track selections. Like Maya and most here on The Org, I grew up in the 80s highly influenced by Prince, rushed out to buy all his 12 inch singles on vinyl because I loved to discover his B-sides and extended versions and continued to dig Prince's music after Purple Rain. Maya your Purple Playlist was so sexy! Thank u! 💜🎶

A few weeks ago, some of the fellas joined up at SiriusXM and recorded a segment of the "Purple Playlist" honoring our brother Prince.

Fast forward three weeks to now. None of us would have imagined the events that occurred in our hometown Minneapolis would rock the world. We grieve with you and we are hurt. This is hometown, this is "Us".

Today and Monday (6/1/2020) from 6pm Eastern, please celebrate #Prince with us on Channel 30 on SiriusXM.

I figured it was added when the Prince(r.i.p.) created group The Time made their announcement for June 1st. This is another great news along with the fourthcoming SOTT remaster.

Listening to The Time's set. Loved the stories. Some of the stories told by Morris are more like what I was hoping to find in his book. Fun listen.

I'd love for that to be true. But looking at the website, the identification of channel 30 as "The Prince Channel" is gone, and it lists a non-Prince related program to start at 3am on that channel. The original advert was for the channel to run through May 30, so that would coincide with that 3am transition. Doesn't look good unfortunately...😔

See, I'm told the Maxwell's and D'Angelo's of the world are their "own" by their assorted stans or whatever, but to me all I hear within 10 seconds of their tracks/acts is Prince Clone #etc, etc.... I even pulled up the YouTube and these are all blatant soundalikes... they're amalgams of different Prince eras at best, the difference was Prince was an amalgamation of wholly different artists and wholly different eras of music history. They're borderline tribute artists... it's like comparing an international cookbook to the stock recipe that comes on the back of a pasta box.

[Edited 5/16/20 16:17pm]

D'Angelo was definitely Prince inspired and had a lot of P in his soul which is audible in music music. But one listen to Voodoo and you know that this is not just a "Prince clone"! I can see if you have only heard 10 seconds of one or two tracks, but please definitely check out Voodoo or Black Messiah which are masterpieces in their own right

No petitions. Those silly commercial petition sites are merely designed to collect your personal information and use it for advertising purposes (spam). NO company is going to wade through all those petitition sites to see what people are asking them to do. No one.

SiriusXM knows exactly how the ratings for each channel are AND how many new subscribers are We've subscribed to SiriusXM for over 25 years.

Who here CARED ENOUGH to subscribe while listening to The Prince Channel?.

Small glimmer of hope. If you go into the SiriusXM website, and search channel 30's schedule for the day, it lists "The Prince Channel" as starting again at 9pm tonight...after what's on now "Top 500 of the 90's" finishes. I checked the other limited run channel schedules (Bowie, Fleetwood Mac, etc) and they don't have anything resuming on the guide. So maybe it's set to return tonight. It does list "Purple Playlist" on tomorrow at 3pm, which would align with The Time's announcement. So again, there's hope...unless I'm reading too much into it.
