So cool this is still a sticky. [First of all, yeah, I’ll go ahead and say it, being a mod here for over twenty years and running the FB page more recently, does afford one some privileges here, and for that I do not apologize. I truly don’t have a problem with how I presented this, but thank you guys, all of you, for your very educated opinions. Venting about something involving Prince, that I felt was unjust, is something I felt should have had attention brought to it. No one can speak for me and say how I must have felt when the guard took me to the lobby, only I know how I felt at that time, and it was all those things I listed. I am well aware that this is a Prince tribute show, and that it was being filmed for television, but IT’S NOT A FUCKING PRINCE CONCERT. Geezus, so, Prince didn’t like cameras out when he performed. We know this. I know this. But, I didn’t feel that it merited removal from my seat and back to the lobby. Another orger said they just had them delete it right there at the seat. Had they done that for me, I probably wouldn’t have left. But the long ass walk to the lobby, to then be handed off to another usher was just ridiculous, and uncalled for. As I mentioned, due to circumstances beyond my control I arrived 10-15 minutes late. I missed the instructions, and apparently I missed when the gazillion ushers and security were telling people that. And, as stated, the signs were extremely small. Even the guard had trouble pointing them out to me. Another thing - I heard three songs. The last one, twice, due to the stop and start. Also, I’m aware of what a taping is - I live in LA. Being filmed for a television production is way different than “this concert will be recorded for later broadcasting”, and I’ve never been to a show where they stopped and restarted a song, for airing sake. There seems to be a lot of animosity over the fact that, because I’m a moderator I shouldn’t be allowed to do this or that, or bitch about something that pissed me off. Well, too fucking bad. I’ve been on this site, volunteering for over 20 years, and the FB page for over 14 years (I think), and I’ve not let your sarcastic, rude, bad mannered and condescending comments affect me or how I moderate here. And quite frankly, most of the responses were just really mean spirited and unkind. Yeah, looking back, I may have overreacted to my ordeal, and for that, I will apologize. But, it’s how I reacted, how I felt and how I responded to it, and I’m not going to begin taking anything posted on here as anything but more of the same in what goes on here. And, yes, I wrote it, stickied it and left it that way on here because that’s what I wanted to do. When any of you moderate a site for a couple decades, I’m sure you will be able to do the same, too. And, guess what, I’ll probably do it again. As for not posting here for long periods of time, is that supposed to be a measure of one’s worth here? You have no idea what we do behind the scenes here. We have a moderator portal group where we discuss the actions of members and I’m in there all the time guiding and assisting my fellow moderators in actions or inactions taken, plus moderating the FB page and posting p-related material to keep it interesting, plus attending school for my bachelors, plus working part time, plus working on my own music and other performing or written arts. So, I ‘m not going to sweat that out either. Some of you used really poor choices of words to describe me as a result of this thread, or who knows, my persona on here? - and I left them as is. That’s a reflection on you more than it is of me. So... enjoy that. And finally, if this were to happen again, or something similar to it, I may think twice before reacting, and maybe consider other factors prior to airing my views of an event that I was fortunate enough to attend. But, maybe by venting in this manner, someone in control may make sure next time that people are treated more respectfully if called out. I may have erred, but there’s nothing wrong with demanding common courtesy - it appears others were afforded that, why wasn’t I? So, I’ve decided to remove the sticky on this - maybe some of you will be able to sleep better now. Who knew that doing so offended you all so much. And you’re absolutely right. I only did it because I can. And, I’m most likely going to be doing it again sometime in the future. MThank you to those who supported my stance, was truly touched by your words. - June7] |
