Isnt this kind of a given since Prince wanted people to be "present" at his concerts, he banned them, and most Prince fans are well aware of that...This was a tribute to Prince, so stands to reason a similar rule would apply....

I also dont get what difference it made to you personally that the filming was for a television production...

They didn't kick you out.

They didn't yell at you in front of everyone else while you were still in your seat.

They specifically told you, in front of everyone else, that you weren't in trouble.

They talked to you in private.

And nobody would have thought of you as a "criminal" if they had seen you return to your seat, especially knowing you got there late and probably missed a verbal reminder to the audience.

It sounds like you were aggravated with the audience instructions because you felt the ticket price didn't justify the forced audience participation.

Regardless, if I were in your shoes I would have made damn sure to get there early ... and there's no way a little incident like that would have kept me from enjoying 95% of the show and participating in a soon-to-be televised event that millions would have loved to attend.

I also have to ask, since you already felt that Prince would have hated watching others perform his songs ... why did you even want to attend since you already felt that way?

Most importantly, Val was kind enough to sell you the ticket at face value with no fees etc. How does she feel about all this?

I didn't mention this earlier, but the OP wrote "as a brown person over 50, I know this treatment all too well" which certainly seems to indicate they believe they were the victim of discrimination.

Which begs the question, did they see anyone else - of any colour - in the audience taking pics or video? If so, how were they treated?

If not, all the more reason I would have gone back to my seat and paid extra attention to what was going on in the crowd.

It's not discrimination when everyone gets treated the same. The burden of proof that you were treated differently falls on you, sorry.

Did you not read that it was going to be on CBS and airing in April. There is a thread about it, right here on the org. CBS is a television production.

What happened to you has nothing to do with your brown skin. It has to do with you broke the rules by taking pictures, and instead of you deleting them and getting back to the show, it sounds like you had an attitude and left.

What difference does it make that you got the ticket just hours before the show?

You can't take pictures at Paisley Park, you couldn't take pictures at a Prince concert.

You are lucky you weren't thrown out, ...that's what happens here on the Org, when we 'go against the rules'.

I'm sorry June, I don't feel sorry for you, you could have stayed and chose not to. It's on you.

As far as the OP, i kind of get where he was(is) coming from. I think it's about choices and power. He chose to leave the show, and took back his power(control) by doing so. And as long as he can realize that he is not a victim(not implying that you think you are, June 7), then he's on the right path. I also don't have a problem with him venting. It's good to let things out. Just don't let it go on for too long. Life is too short to stress on the not so important things. And because of certain events, I'm sure June 7 is aware of that.


Oh, and, i think it's important to pay back the ticket.

The rest of the stuff(should it have been a sticky or not, etc) i don't care about.

This is an issue about respect.

People just don't respect people anymore! There is a way to treat people and a way not to! The security person could have very politely said, ''please pop your camera away'' and I'm sure June7 or anyone else would have happily done so!

People hate people, people hate animals, people don't care! The news is full of people killing people and people destroying the environment.

This week in Australia we saw a farmer MURDER 100+ Koala when the world is trying to help Australia with their insurmountable ecological disaster!

This problem is getting worse and worse!

The human race is sinking into a cesspit of it's own making.

However, there is a glimmer of hope. Some people are great and together we can achieve great things! Again, look at the kindness, love and respect shown around the world for the animals of Australia!

So how about we all start to show each other a little respect. Be nice. Be polite. Be courteous.

A small start can lead to great things!

And I'd much rather be spoken to in private, as he was, instead of at my seat with so many people around looking and listening. Plus security had to ensure the pics were deleted, can't do that from a distance.
