My only quibble is when you write: "beyond Prince fans, not that many people know who Sheila E, The Family, Mazarati, etc." It's absolultey true that no one has heard of The Family or Mazarati, but everyone knows Sheila E. I don't think she fits in that sentence.

Perhaps you meant that, while people know the name Sheila E, no one knows any of her music outside of The Glamorous Life (and perhaps A Love Bizarre). That's true. No non-Prince fan is going to recognize Noon Rendezvous or Holly Rock.

You've misspelled Sinéad O'Connor's name, and The Bangles weren't a one-hit wonder (then again, you said this of "Manic Monday", which makes even less sense).

Also, why would they release "Love Song"? That track is available. Moreover, it's a collaboration between the two.

Thanks, I’ve fixed the typos I would argue in 2019 that the bangles are a one-hit wonder. It is all anyone really knows them for, but I hear your opinion. That’s what the site is about - get people debating music again, since no other music publication has the guts to have an opinion nowadays. They’re just optimising for SEO and Facebook likes.

But if the Bangles are a one-hit wonder (they certainly aren't), Manic Monday isn't the hit. I'm speaking from a U.S. perspective, and Eternal Flame and Walk Like an Egyptian were both #1 singles, with Walk Like an Egyptian being the biggest of their hits. As far as oldies play now, I hear Walk Like An Egyptian a lot more than Manic Monday (Eternal Flame not so much).

I'm still checking out the blog--the thumbnail for the Heroes article kind of flipped me out when I first saw it. I didn't quite register it correctly. I'll let you know what I think after I read around a bit more.

Thanks! I think you both nailed the sentiment re: knowing the singles. I agree Sheila E. is pretty well-known, but I’m less certain pesky millennials are familiar with who she is (they’re too busy listening to Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa to dive into the past). We’re on a mission to make people appreciate artists who really *are* artists, and I’ll likely dive into people like Sheila in the future, but baby steps for now... ;)

If I am permitted to plug further (we don’t use social media and only spread through word of mouth), you may understand our sentiment better if you read my Heroes piece.

I was about to say the same thing. I've heard their Walk Like An Egyptian 100x more on the radio than I've ever heard Manic Monday. Egyptian seems to be the one that seems to pop up on the 80s compilations. Eternal Flame was really big, as was Hazy Shade Of Winter.

Don't get me wrong - I have not heard much of them from them since the 80s.
