My problem with Tidal is that I don't want to sign up to pay fees in order to by Prince's music. With all the money Prince had, it made absolutely no sense that he could not get someone competent to run a Prince site where we could by the music.
.
And yeah I know the fiasco with LotusFlow3r.com etc but this is not hard business in this day in age. . I would not sign up with Tidal pay a fee just to get Prince's music.
But your problem is with streaming in general, or as a general concept. It's not specific to Prince and Tidal.
All the exclusive music Prince provided to Tidal was also available to buy and download in their store without a subscription, including the Piano & Microphone live tracks. |

Exactly. That's like requiring someone to pay a cover charge just to enter the doors of a record store to buy an album. That's absolutely crazy as hell. And as far as music from other so-called "artists" on that site, I truly doubt there are very few on there that I would like, if any. And wasn't it a "streaming" site? Hell, streaming is like being satisfied with throwing money into a jukebox but never being able to bring the music home and own it. I tell ya, this new generation is crazy as hell throwing money away like that. But then again, I'm glad so many of them are satisfied with only listening to music on small devices like phones. That' means I'll never be disturbed with their mess. I'll just simply turn on my stereo on ground it out. Andy is a four letter word. |

No it isn't race based. A lot of the people who had a bad taste when this all happened prior, were African - American. Don't make assumptions when you don't know who is behind the screen.
Lots of African-Americans don't like Jay Z or Beyonce.

Those bootlegs appeared on all streaming sites and have now been taken down. But you're evading the point. Your criticisms apply to the concept of streaming and any and all streaming services in general, including spotify.
And you did not need a subscription to listen or own the exclusive music Prince provided to Tidal. You could download it all for a price in their store if you chose to. |

Bootlegs no... But he did upload Prince's entire catalouge which the majority of it has been taken down now...
Everything was uploaded from Crystall Ball to ONA Alone to NPG Exodus (which is still up)...
Bascially his whole catalouge was uploaded, but no boots. |

Wow! Why should it be race related?? If Jay-Z was a white guy with the same shoddy busines practices and crap music I still wouldn't like him and would still say the same thing. I actually agree with some of those lyrics but in the end he's as much as a money grubbing corporate tool like Universal, WB or Londell. I would rather see Prince's family get some help from professionals with a proven track record regarding cultivating an estate and leave these clowns where they are. Jay-Z should just sit down and understand that Prince just used him as another pawn. |

Why would Prince be telling his wishes to JZ for when he died? Unless it was the Tidal deal and he wanted the music to stay on Tidal.
P must not have forwarded him the email and such about PP being turned into a museum.

But it is observable that the same level of hate and criticism is not levelled at Spotify here. And that is a streaming service Prince resolutely did not want his music available on, and that is exactly what has occured after his passing.
Meanwhile, many fans here attack the very streaming service Prince did approve and provide his music to during his lifetime.

I have many downloads and have never paid a cent for them and never will. If I'm going to spend money, it is going to be on an actual original CD or record. Spending money on a download is like borrowing a friend's record back in the day and recording it onto a blank cassette tape. if you download something and burn it onto a CD, you simply have something "homemade" and not the original product. Homemade recordings have always been free except for the price of the blank tape and they should continue to be free except for the price of the blank CD. I want my Prince CDs original, not homemade.

Spotify isn't whining like Jay-Z is. And Spotify obviousy made a deal with the people who are now in charge of Prince's estate, so being hateful against Spotify would be kind of weird when the hate should then be directed at the people who made the deal with them. I understand Prince chose Tidal and i was glad he did because I would rather pay money for HQ streaming than Spotify Low-fi music, but now that Prince is gone, other people are striking deals and Jay-Z is crying foul without anything to back his claims up so he comes off to me as just some whiny money grubber like Londell and the rest. |

Can U tell me right now, who on here who has a problem with this is Black White Red Brown or Yellow?

The race card thing get's thrown around to easily and too quickly. When anyone should know Prince fans don't like many people between them and their Prince. . Prince fans went after WB just as much or more.

That could still come. But unless Prince had this all designed scripted signed and sealed, then there is an understanding on the rush. Not to make money for themselves but to pay those taxes Prince left.

Even though I'm not a fool enough to throw away money like that, do I dislike something owned by Jay-Z more than other services? Damn right I do. He is shit hop trash and I wouldn't give one cent of my money to support shit like that. Is it racial? Hell no. My love is funk and I was listening to it as far back as 1979 right after disco's supposed "death" in the days when I was one of the very few white people listening to it and caught the backlash from all the white people that hated it. But was funk replaced with a better form of R&B when it ran it's coarse and something else took over? No, it was replaced with shit hop, which is a bunch of absolute nothing, and shit hop hasn't been replaced with anything since. Styles always changed every ten years but not with shit hop, the 2000s arrived, still shit hop. The 2010s are almost over, still shit hop. So this is what the dominating form of R&B is apparently going to be from now on. Well, not one cent of my money will contribute to it. Andy is a four letter word. |

Yes Londell screwed up the Uni deal but his duty wa to the family and the estate. He did the right thing by disputing the Tidal contract that was not even written on paper and was potentiall able to maximize the sale of the rights.
Otherwise Tidal would have gotten it all for nothing.
Jay-z is also full of it if he thought one coversation with Prince meant he had all the digital rights.
Ultimately this is is ALL PRINCE'S FAULT. He was sloppy with his contracts, sloppy with his business. Would change is mind based on the time of the day and TRUSTED NO ONE and did not like living up to his committments.
Music genius yes, business mind hell no.
